Great store, bought some really unusual and interesting vintage children’s books. The owners were very friendly and charming when I was there. I liked it a lot.
Found some pretty obscure and interesting books here. If that’s what matters to you for a used bookstore, then you should check this place out.
Hey, I love this place. Have only had lovely interactions with the owners and always find really cool stuff :)
Found an amazing copy of Alice and Wonderland for $9.00. We did have to leave our bags at the counter. Spent tons of time looking for an awesome book to bring with me. I think this place has many gems but you have to take your time and look.
If you want to receive an angry lecture the moment you enter the store, this is a good place to visit. Saw her do it to 2 other people who came in as well. I guess she just assumes that all people will mishandle the books, even before they have touched anything? If the lady working there is an employee, she needs to be retrained or replaced. If shes the owner, I dont want to spend my money with her.
Nice selection of books, terrible place to buy them. The harridan behind the counter does not want your business.
Excellent and huge selection of secondhand books, with an admirable tilt towards the left. Particularly strong in literature, history, social movements, labor, and such. Good place to find that book you never knew you coveted. Prices are fair. Be sure to use a stepladder when reaching for a book on the upper shelves, though.
This is a classic bookstore in Oakland. I really enjoy browsing there when Im back in town.
Huge collection, lots of really cool old books
Not family friendly. I may have found some nice books had I not been chased out if the store first.
Cute bookstore. All old books. Mostly pre-1970s.
The bay area has many wonderful bookstores, we lose so many. This is a shop where I always find a treasure. The smell and the many shelves of books will make you giddy with delight. The loss of Blackoak books was a bad surprise, the last thing I would want to happen is to see Biblomania end there too. I would be lost without them and of course the kindest staff as well. Check it out, you will be welcomed.
This is the WORST bookstore I have ever been to!!! Upon walking into the store my husband and I were literally accosted by the elderly woman working there with a list of rules about how he should behave in the store. By the time we got to the 8th rule-we were ready to bolt. As two teachers used to the wonderful book stores like Green Apple in San Franciscso where we live, this is the most stale and ininviting store of any kind we have ever been to. I would never step foot in this place again and I would advise others to look elsewhere if you enjoy browsing for books!!
Racist bookstore. The owner put me out for being on the phone with my grandma as I was looking for a book for her. I barely said two words on the phone before he threw me out. Lesson learned about being black while in a bookstore. If youre again RACISM and DISCRIMINATION dont support this store.
Intense selection of books. In my stumbling i found a section on Gold Mining.
Wow. The customer service was astonishingly terrible. An elderly woman was barking orders at us from the moment we entered the establishment. We left without looking at anything and will never be back.
This place has TERRIBLE customer service. Dont reinforce their behaviors by buying anything.
