Its a nice little park in north haven, has picnic area and a pond for fishing, and I think swimming also .surround by a huge field, and pine trees which are growing from the tornado of 2018. All in all good place for kids and elderly mostly flat. And walking dogs
A tranquil beautiful place to be one with nature. We go there often to walk, read and enjoy the beauty of God.
One of my favorite local parks. This may a finch invasion year. Red breasted nuthach are in and I found 3 this morning 8.21.20 feeding on white pine cone seeds.
Had my grandsons party here, the weather was amazing, the lake had ropes and buoys to keep people out of the deep end, I just wish they had a life guard, other than that it was nice
Great place to visit. Many bright views are impressive and amazing.
It’s a great place to take your grandchildren ..My grandson Jayce is 26 months & It’s quiet . It’s not too crowded and a great place for him to get used to the water and to teach him how to swim without a lot of distractions.
Needs updates, quiet place, didnt stay long.
This pond is very small. I like going because its close but kinda small and very close to traffic. Not a place to be if you want to get away from the noisy cars. It is still pretty though. Just not the best ct state park ive ever been. Stocked trout pond.
Yikes. For a state park we thought it was going to be a nice place to take a walk. It was a muddy swamp that looked like it had recently been clear-cut, plus a small grass area and small pond for swimming. Smelled bad too. Cant say I recommend this place. We went in the dead of winter. Maybe its a bit nicer in summer. I took the nicest picture I could, in the direction toward the pond and away from the swamp.
Enjoy park for meditation & bringing dog to walk
Nice place, but water super dirty
Very easy short loop walk
Its a nice place but the downfall is theres to many people
Decent trout pond
Very nice event
The park had some recent renovations. I go here for peace of walking around the lake. I have fished here and caught stocked trout but little else but catfish. Nice small family park.
Nice quiet spot with a good area to fish.Has a couple picnic tables.Decent amount of parking.Very clean but has no porta pots or restroom facilities. There was no fee to get in.
Wharton Brook got hit pretty hard by the tornado/microburst of 2018. Its still a great place to go for a picnic, cookout, or do some fishing. The trails were utterly devastated in the storm, but they are more interesting and accessible now. Luckily, a lot of the Pitch Pines were spared during the storm, and theyre quite unique and worth a look. I love this little park and hope you will too (please help keep it clean!)
The least visited of all the State Parks in CT I bet. There a small lake with an even smaller beach. A few pavilions for picnicking and wood or charcoal burning grills at picnic tables strewn about. Nothing to write home about but handy being right off I-91.
It is a very nice park to go to with your family and friends on a sunny day.
Beautiful open space!! Convenient to I-91, and Routes 5 and 15...good Fishing as well!
This was great we caught a huge bass and the beach area was awesome but only one tiny problem when you first go in the water its like seaweed but its fine it doesnt have the whole area with seaweed I would give a 10 star if I could
Good water
Went because it is designated as a Trophy Trout Park, showed up and it was nothing but a polluted pond and dried riverbed. It was a huge disappointment
Nice pond for fishing the park is a little beat up still from the Tornado that came through 2 years ago. Nice spot for a picnic or a walk
Quiet and good place to take kids fishing
Need more trout..Still. Peaceful except for train and hwy noise.. Trout Park, great for walking...2018 Tornado damage evident.
It was nice quit relaxing not full at all bearly anybody there
Peaceful, quiet. Good place for a walk with the dog.
It will be several years before it recovers from the storm last year. Used to be a nice place to have lunch. Now looks like a wasteland.
All kinds of pollutants were found in there and it was shut down years ago. Dont let your kids swim there! I remember being there as a kid and not daring to go in because you could smell the POISON in the water.
Nice place for a picnic
Great place to take the kids fishing. This place is wide open. Teaching the kids how to cast will be a lot easier. They stock trout here. Kids caught for fish and I ran around helping them.
Relaxing very comfortable
Careful, I saw a Copper Head swimming in the water looking for frogs, could be nice, neglected.
Very nice quiet park for a picnic.
I wasnt crazy about the idea of people fishing close to where people swim. Its a safety hazard, someone could step on a hook that broke off a line in the water.
Beautiful place
Very peaceful.. there are snakes in the water
Comi f back. Goos fishing
I caught a hybrid pike/pickerel and it was monster..I user a rooster tail jigged with a yamamoto
Just recently stocked with trout
I did not like that there bathroom was so bad u couldnt even get in to use it, but did love the view and the lake.
Its a nice park for a cute walk.. Make sure you bring bug spray
Very quaint spot. Clean, trails well cared for.
Very calm little park. Kids had a great time.
This park used to be great for swimming. The beach is over grown now and the swim area is literally a kiddie pool size roped off area.(6/20/2016) Its not suitable for anyone teenager or up to swim in. The State of Connecticut continues to neglect its parks and forest land and this park is one of its poster children for neglect. The decline of the parks in this state are a real tragedy for our residents. Dont waste your time going here to swim....its not worth the trip anymore.
So relaxing. Cant wait to go back
Good place for picnic
Just a beautiful place for a nice relaxing time.
Great fishing spot.
A good get away yet close.
Just sad we lost all those trees
Park is temporarily closed for tree work. July 2018
So sad to see so many trees gone
Nice place to walk, but larger groups of people may be disturbing the experience
Good times with pup
Very clean
The park is open again as of 3/2019
Outstanding experience
Call my lemon in 10 minutes
The water was disgusting and looked contaminated
Quiet place for a picnic or fishing.
Good fishing
Chillin

Awesome
Quiet, beautiful
I think is close
Beautiful!
Nice
Beautiful grounds
Convenient location
Trout fishing
Trout park.
Memories fun
Relaxing park and great for cookout
It was close close but you still could take az walk.
Water is always nasty
It is a nice park but they need to get more people to pick up the garbage garbage cans are always overflowing with garbage doesnt look very good all in all a nice part
Beautiful place
This has to be one of the crappiest places in CT. It is dirty, scuzzy and the water smells !!! Not to mention its next to a main drag and near a chemical company ! The terrain is horrible unless you like scuzzy gravel sand pits.
