Target ran out of stuff for college students. Ahould of prepared for opening. Small TVs none in stock. Not even bathroom trash cans.
The entrance is right behind the service plaza. We were initially confused, but the google location is actually exactly right. The trail itself was ok if a little rundown.
Good food
Always a great and challenging hike.
Nice Landscape. Woodsy land. Peaceful & Quiet
Love to walk and ride this trail. Very scenic, clean and well maintained.
Leaves are pretty!
This trail could be better maintained and the blazes are inconsistent. That said, it is pretty quiet for how close you are to the Merrit and it is nice to see the river. The ground is rather damp, so dont wear your favorite shoes unless you want them caked inud.
I complete love the place...also it has a really beautiful view️️
Nice flat trails and good nature scenary......
GREAT LOCAL HUNTING FOR, WILD TURKEY AND DEER AREA. STOCKED BY STATE & CLUBS DAILY PERMITS DURING THE PHEASANT SEASON. SMALL GAME IS AVTIVE ALL YEAR. SEPTEMBER FIRST TO THIRTIETH. THEN AFTER BIRD/DEER SEASONS NO DAILY PERMIT REQUIRED. PERMITS FOR ALL DEER AND WILD TURKEY AT TOWN CLERKS OFFICE. SHOTGUNS ONLY!! SEE BOW AND CROSS BOW RULES.
Not very interesting. Proximity to busy freeway doesnt help.
Other than the noise from the parkway, its beautiful
South entrance is found via Banton st which extends from State St. Parking behind the RT 15N service station on Banton rd. From the south end, the paved path ends about a half mile in, leading to a misleading continuation trail path which leads to nowhere. The real trail is marked with light blue paint and starts on the right side about 100ft in from the entrance. The path is old and narrow with many obstacles. Bikes cannot traverse, intermediate difficulty for trail runners. This trail is not what youd expect if youre looking for similarities from the larger parks (sleeping giant). Lots of fun if you dont mind difficulty in foot travel and the risk of getting a little lost!
Clean nice and quiet walking trail.
We loved it, drinks were amazing food was tasty!
Nice little walk through the woods. Nothing spectacular that i saw.
Great green area with amazing trails and scenery.
Peaceful & just right for the whole family
Lovely walk all along the Quinnipiac river! Canoeing possible!
I see ducks every time Im here.
Not a place for casting long fly rods (two handers), at least not in the area we looked at near the service plaza on the Wilbur Cross Parkway.
Love itNice trails to walk and beautiful water
Cool rest area with access to hiking trails.
Love what CT has done with the rest areas on CT-15. This one has a 24 hour subway and Dunkin donuts. They are staffed by the same people so sometimes there is extra wait. Its an easy on and easy off rest area and has a convenience store and restrooms which are well maintained.
Good luck finding it via GPS. You wont. I did manage to drive down some sketch road and found what looked like a parking area with a trail but it was the sketichiest place ive ever been (for hiking) and its right behind a major highway. I didnt bother getting out of the car. Looks like they built houses over what might of been the park? Im really not sure but I def dont recommend it to anyone.
Lots of great trails and hiking
Access road is impossible to find. The google maps directions are hopeless. Look for the local access on the website if you don’t enjoy frustration of going around in circles.
A nice little park with trails that meander along the Quinnipiac River. Poor signage from the South entrance did not indicate that much of the trail is closed and overrun with vegetation.
Maybe past it by but never went into the park
Nice visit
Visited late March 2013. I entered the blue-blazed trail from the north end (Toelles Rd bridge) and found the trail was impassable after about 0.5 mi (the blazes lead into deep water in a flooded area). I found it impossible to detour because of thorns, mud, and random oxbows from previous river flooding and had to turn back. There is lots of quicksand-like muck. I am grateful that this space is open to the public but anybody expecting trails like Sleeping Giant is going to be severely disappointed. I would definitely not recommend this for family outings. Might be of interest to intrepid cross-country trekkers, just be sure to wear good boots, long pants and expect slow going as it is extremely overgrown and likely to be even more difficult in the warmer months. The river scenery is not bad and there is wildlife (plenty of deer). On the downside there is lots of litter (large number of plastic bats and soccer balls, I guess from the facilities on the other side of the river). Also a lot of vehicle noise from CT 15 which runs parallel.
Beautiful scenery

Please read about levels of Copper Chromatic Arsenic found here. Would not advise visiting or eating game from this contaminated area!!
I hate it. I hate it so much that I would throw a bomb there.
