Greenbelt Forest Preserve

Such a peaceful and beautiful area to walk/run on the trails! Its a nice place to see nature and plenty of wildlife! Everyone has been friendly and respectful of our space. There are shelters with tables for a picnic or a get together. There is playground equipment for kids and bathroom facilities. Absolutely love it here!

I wasnt too happy when I came here for my walk. There are no markers where there should be. At least twice in my walk I was confused which way to go. I just had to wing it because there was no signs or indicators assisting me. Before I was able to complete one loop I was annoyed and no longer wanted to walk.BTW... there are 2 different loops for this forest preserve. I looked up the maps online and only one has a downloadable map to it, the one on the west side of the street. That one is 1.3 miles around. The loop thats across the street on the Eastside doesnt have a map of its loop and is 1.8 miles around. It can be viewed online but you would have to increase the size drastically in order to see all of the nooks and crannies.Happy

Its pretty quiet at times, even with people showing up to park and walk the trails with their dogs, kids, alone or with whomever. The down-size is because theres so many wildflowers, that also attracts an awful lot of bees and wasps. The bathroom is not sanitary to me. Theres a water fountain and its misleading. Theres plastic around it as though its set for use and protection, yet its inoperable. I still like going there though because it really is peaceful. I hope it remains that way.

Lots of green and it is well maintained. I wish the route were longer though, but Im not complaining.

Saw some deer here and they were majestic

The trail is perfect for walking, jogging and biking. Wheelchair accessible. Deers can be seen when its less crowded generally after 8pm.

Clean trail..no trash...love the pond filled with gold fishes and turtles..well cut lawn.

Single file signs for trail hiking safety during virus outbreak need to be printed in Spanish as well as English. Most definitely.

I was in town for a Navy boot camp graduation. I was looking for a place to run and found Greenbelt Forest Preserve. Was a nice peaceful place to run. The track is not paved and was soft in some areas due to recent rain. There was a bathroom along the course near one of the picnic areas. Overall this is a very nice park.

Went to a friends reunion. Beautiful, open shelter. Plenty of room for the kids to have badminton and other games. Perfect weather. Perfect location

Great facilities for group function. We were there for LCFPD volunteer brunch.

Beautiful center. Nice little tucked away nature center and also an incredible place for an event

Easily accessible. Love the stage area. Dont forget to check out the free library, closest to the pond near the Greenbay entrance.

Nice, clean forest preserve. They cut and maintain the walkways. You can fish and walk around the preserve.

Nature preserve in Illinois... not quite the ones the illannoysans visit in my state of wisco, but I guess they tried....

Since we were in the area we decided to check this place out. Clean. Well kept. A relaxing experience.

It is split in two by Greenbay Road. Parking is available at both sides. The trails are well kept. The pond is nice to look at, you can sit and relax. They have kids programs too.

Beautiful place for our daughters special day

Very beautiful spot with plenty of parking. Hiking trails throughout forests and prairie with a small pond with a little dock. Great area for photo opportunities or exploring. Easy to find, calm and hidden away. Bugs galore, but that should be expected.

Although it was better in the past, they have opened up the trail to be more visible from the main roads.

This is a beautiful spot in the middle of the forest preserve to either go for a walk, or book for a large party.

Great for family cookouts, outdoor festivals and family reunions. I suggest bringing plenty of bug repellent though or tiki torches. One year we went the flys were terrible! Great place for the kids to dance and run around though.

Very clean. Could have done a better job spraying. Lots of mosquitoes and my nephew was bitten by a tick.

I attended a birthday party for a friends child held at this preserve. I must say this was one of the cleanest event areas Ive visited in such a long time. I would recommend this location to anyone looking to book a party outside.

I am regular here for biking. Its very calm and quite. Shelters are available for parties but no loud noise is allowed, which is a good thing. Two very good trails connected each other in a figure of 8 one short and one long. This place is very safe as well. You might want to be careful with deer though.

Beautiful place, well-groomed walking trails, gorgeous pavilions, and was far enough away from the rest of North Chicago that we could only HEAR the gun-shots from all over town.

I love to hike and simply spend time out in nature. This location is pretty much perfect for all such activities. The large expansive prairie style lay out beyond the forested areas is idyllic for picnics or adventure and exploration! It seems to transcend one from being in a small forest preserve to being almost childlike, as you look around you lose yourself and forget that you are triangularly surrounded by highway systems and busy streets.Certainly among one of the more beautiful and serene forest preserves in northern Illinois.

Ive been going to this place since I was little. Remember I used to play in the same play ground my kids are playing on now. Everything is the same as always. Very quiet place on weekdays. Weekends its packed, parties everywhere

Beautiful park, well maintained trails to hike. Excellent fishing, even for small kids. If you are in Chicago and looking for open space for a picnic or a place to go fishing, this is a great stop.

Its a peaceful place, you can run, walk and picnic there. Dont mess with any wildlife; especially turtles there the pond is monitored 24/7.

Nice place. Grassy field bring some equipment like baseballs amd bats, badminton set, football and hola hoops and you will be good to go with some music friends/family and food

The Greenbelt Forest Preserve is a nice place to go to with your family and friends or just yourself, it has a place to go and be under a tree to sit down and eat. The park has a lots of parking places for anyone to use as some are even under trees and that is really good in the heat of summer.

Very nice place to go to, the fishing is good and you can jog, bike, or hike excellent for some Rest and Relaxation kids really enjoyed being there didnt see any play ground but take em hiking or fishing would like to come back again one day

Nice trail for a little breezy walk

Great little preserve, if you bring your family stick to the trails or the playground. Many people use the parking area by shelter C to get some action . Wish LCFP spend more time patrolling thus areas.

Love goibg on my runs here. Just be careful of thw mosquitos. Also had mu graduation party here a few years ago. Lots of tress and possibility of seeing deer. I see them all the time here.

It would be wonderful if it wasnt for the man with the vicious Rottweilers whos there every day scaring the daylights out of everyone and making it a most unpleasant experience. Im trying to find where I can report this because Im tired of being terrified that my little dog is going to get her head chewed off.
