The school has so much potential. The curriculum seems to be great however with the virtual learning it is EXTREMELY hands on. As a mom that works from home during this pandemic, I constantly have to come to the screen to assist my child. More than not, my daughter is on break and I have to figure out what she is suppose to be doing. My opinion, Im given all the tools to home school but its definitely not virtual learning. I have a son in virtual learning (at a different school) and I have a very clear and set schedule for his breaks and etc. With this school, not at all. Its just not organized. Now today my kid had about an hour of class and she is out for individual assessments, that will take a few days to complete. I just think they need to come up with a better plan. That makes no sense and my child is in kindergarten so this year is extremely important.
Im loved this school and all the teachers when i moved from there i was so sad because i missed my friends and teachers i wish i could meet mr. parker again the best pepole there were the princeble the acting teacher my friends ms ludy all the 4th and 5th grade teachers and Mr.parker
This school is so bad. i’m not just saying this because i got disciplined. the lunches are barely edible and they don’t even wash the trays. once i found a bug in my food and there’s roaches in the lost and found. the teachers here don’t care at all. i left this school in 2017 because of all of the bad conditions.
Bless the teachers that actually are trying to educate the students but the other half need to be dismissed. Literally had a teacher just walk up to my window as I was waiting for my child to go into the school building and ask me to move! Keep in mind I just watched the same teacher bypass 4 other cars that had kids exiting the vehicles, attempting to swerve pass all of us. Maybe she is running late?!? But we are in the drop off line. Excuse me “teacher” I’m trying to ensure my child makes it safely into the school building considering there was no one at the front door to let them in in a timely manner.
My child is a current Kindergarten student and this has been an amazing experience. The faculty and staff do an amazing job. The fathers event yesterday was amazing and really made me love the school even more.
This is not based on my experience, I just want to know If this is a good school to enroll my children(as far as academically)Please answer current parents
This is my daughters 2nd year at North Metro. She loves it here. The academics that have been given by her teachers have either met or exceeded the county standards. Her teachers have been amazing and pushed her to do her best. She also loves the performing arts aspects. It really helps to keep her engaged in the school.
My daughter is inspired here. All of the staff I’ve met here are so helpful and joyful. It makes you brighten up
I have seen these children perform and recite and sing. They are cheerful while they perform which reflects their joy in what they are learning and doing. I commend their teachers for imparting greatness into their lives. Excellence in learning and performing creates a very bright future for each student.
This school is amazing. The staff is great and the teachers are amazing. This year has been great and I would encourage all parents to bring their kids. The performing arts program is wonderful and they have so many different activities.
If youve not had an opportunity to visit North Metro Academy of Performing Arts under the new administration, please do so! You will notice some significant changes that are moving us towards our goal to become the best charter schools in the state! We are extremely impressed by the leadership of our principal, Dr. Rodriguez Johnson. Visit us during the school day or come to one of our wonderful Performing Arts productions! Check out our website for production dates and other activities. #proudadministrator #soaringtonewheights #risingthebar
This was the best choice ever! This school engages my son and encourages him on a daily basis to be GREAT! We love NMPA!!
Such an amazing school with teachers, staff, and administrators that truly care for the kids, the parents, and the community! It is most definitely considered a safe haven type of environment! It is also a very supportive environment that promote motivation and excellence in learning!
Very unorganized. I do not think this school teaches the things required per grade level. They intentionally leave things out of students grade averages to help their grades and pass them along. Communication is nonexistent between teachers and administration. Every visit to the school is complete chaos. They lack any structure. My children will not be returning and I hope you all do your research before placing your children here. They are not performing at state level and have not since opening 4 years ago.
This should not be an option for any child. This school lacks administrative structure, ethics or the ability to offer your child the education they deserve. The administration lie about everything. They can not support the technology teaching that they attempt to promote. They dont have books, e-class or any other technology resources available to the kids. The children are learning from whatever the teachers download from the internet and provide. I question if they are being taught the things they should be taught for specific grade levels. They have horribly poor standardized testing scores, awful teacher and student retention rates and unacceptable lunches. North Metro is doing the founders legacy a terrible disservice. I am not certain what the focus is with this school but unfortunately it does not seem to be the well being of the child. With small student numbers, it would seem that this school could excel.....This review is not intended to bash the school. It is intended to make people aware and hopefully the school will make the improvements necessary. Childrens educations are at stake... BEST
If you are looking for your child to come to a school to be a star, this is not the school for them. However, if you want your child in grades K-5 to be taught by world class educators who genuinely care about the success of each child in the classroom, then NMAPA is the place for your family. At North Metro Academy of Performing Arts, we integrate the arts into our regular curriculum of Math, Science, English and History, which is not typical at most schools. Additionally, our scholars have the awesome opportunity to be trained in music, dance, art and theatre by academically savvy industry professionals. There are grade level performances that showcase the talents of each scholar that give them the opportunity to build confidence and engagement beyond NMAPA. Students in fourth and fifth grade are able to select a discipline in the arts to further enhance their skills in music, dance, art and theatre and/ or learn how to skillfully play an instrument. The teachers and staff at NMAPA have a genuine investment in helping your child soar as an Eagle! As we are growing we would love for you to join our NMAPA family.
This school was so frustrating . I went here when it first opened in 2015 for 4th. The curriculum was slow, most (not all but definitely most) of the kids here are rude, disorganized and scary, many of the teachers are not the best, the technology was never all too great, and no one cared. North Metro, in all Gwinnett county schools, had the worst math grades on the GA Milestones in 2016.I went there for two years, and that was enough for me. The school was more focused on teaching us arts than academics. I remember curse words on the bathroom stalls, the ripped ceiling and walls and broken ventilation, their spoiled food (they reuse the milk that you dont drink), or the playground behind the woods near the street where kids have tried to run away into the street, since there is no fencing and dangers everywhere. Not the safest in my opinion.
I believe that this school is going to be great with the new principal and administration. The teachers really seem to care and I hope that this school finds the funding that it desperately needs. The school communicates great with parents in my opinion. I feel like my children are benefiting from this school. Smaller classes mean concentrated attention on the students. The performing arts program is the real deal. My children are in Kindergarten and First grade; their performances were entertaining and actually quite good. My children are above their reading levels by 2 grades! Every other month, they have a family activity night. We get to show our support for the school through various activities, such as, festivals, chik fila, and skating at the rink. The scholars have technology integrated with their learning. Downside- a lot of families have departed from this awesome school due to poor administration during the 16-17 school year. So they lost lots of funding and teachers. I pray that more families come back to the school next year. The school does not need to get any smaller. I saw on the GCPS website, they only have 260 students. Academically, my children are above where they need to be and most important. They love their school. The team at NMAPA loves my children and it is evident. They know us parents by name. I dont think schools get that personal anymore...
They need Organization, better customer service, kind teachers, better discipline method and Budget. Please, find another school for your child@
This school was better off as Hopewell Christain Academy.....I used to LOVE this school but after my 6th grade year I started to hate it. At this point Im embarrassed to be leaving middleschool as a NMAPA eagle. This school is very disorganized but they are still some great things about this school.
Plz dont put your kids in this school it is horrible.
You should really go to the place I go to that school
Watched a performance by the kids from this school. Excellent!!!

This SUCKS and your child will HATE this school I wish I could rate this a zero or a -1000 the food here is barely edible and aftercare is boring especially since we have to write even on fridays which sucks
