Ive been working with Johnny B. Hazard at Firefly Tattoo in Noblesville, Indiana since October of 2019. He has done a number of sessions with m. Maybe about Ten or Eleven. He has been an amazing friend, just as much he is an amazing artist. He has done my tattoo on my neck in what became a beautiful healed calligraphy style tattoo. He is currently working on my left arm, which is going to be a full sleeve. It is a Studio Ghibli inspired sleeve. Johnny does sanitize all the things Ive touched or sat on before and after each session. He does require customers to wash my hands before entering the building. And the Studio itself does require both Tattoo Artist and customer to wear a mask at all times during the tattoo process. The actual building itself is super home-like, its very comfortable to be in. They have a small art gallery in main entrance of the building where they also sell art prints by their artists. The other tattoo artists are just as talented and kind as Johnny. I will say Firefly Tattoo does current have any piercings artist. However, everyone there is super personable. Im happy and excited to continue working with them for all my tattoo needs.

The studio is very clean and inviting. Everyone is authentic and welcoming. Kimberly did my piece and really took what I told her and made it better than I imagined!

The other artists Im sure are very good as well. Take a look at their website and see which artists portfolio appeals to your style the best. No response, no response, and did I mention no response? Deposit money was taken, artwork never produced, and I waited months before posting this negative review after.... you guessed it getting no response after countless attempts! There is no phone number to call and you are completely at the whim of the artist (Gerrit in this case) deciding to give you the time of day or not. Forget about rescheduling because it just wont happen. Want to make this right, Firefly? You could start by responding, ever.

NOT CLOSED. Not sure why it is showing up that way on Yelp, as I just got a tattoo there today by Laura Black. However, it is by appointment only, and youll probably have to get on a waiting list before you can even get a consult. I waited over a year from first contact to actually getting my tattoo. Im so glad I waited, and could not be happier with my first tattoo.Regarding the artist, Laura worked with me to design the tattoo to incorporate several elements that were important to me, even getting the technical details correct on the tatted lace frame. I make tatted lace, so it was important for it to be accurate. I love it so much that I am already looking at source material ideas for my next tattoo (or two...) by Laura.Regarding the studio, it is a beautiful space, more like an art studio than a tattoo shop, with tons of natural lighting. It is also super clean. If you happen to bring someone else with you to your appointment, each workstation has a couch for them to comfortably sit and observe from.

The facility is clean, well-lit, and welcoming. The artists are polite and professional (and they played 80s pop hits so it was the perfect atmosphere).

I was looking to get a tattoo of my own design that I had had in my head for a long time (almost a decade). I have other tattoos but theyre all on my back so I can cover them up if I ever end up not liking them, but this one was going to be big and on my arm so I wanted the best. After seeing all their great reviews and their portfolio, I chose Firefly. I originally wanted Laura but the wait was almost 4 months and I was moving so I couldnt wait that long, so I went with Dina based on her portfolio.I did all my research and printed out several reference photos, plus drew a picture of what I wanted. She made a copy of everything during our consultation and said she was going to draw something up and email it to me for approval. I never got an email but went ahead and went to my appointment after about another month thinking shed have it then. Instead, she drew the design straight on my arm without any reference photo or stencil. I know I shouldve stopped her there, but I thought shes an artist, its just her creative process so I let her start. Big mistake. I had stressed to her how important this was, but she disregarded all the research photos and just redid my drawing in her own personal style basically.This was the first tattoo Ive ever cried after getting. I went back for a touch up in about another month and she tried to fix some stuff but its still not what I wanted. And Im always scared with tattoos and haircuts if you tell the artist they did a bad job they will get mad and purposely mess it up more, so I just lied and said it was fine and went on my way. When I get the money again I will go to another local artist and have it fixed.I did like the atmosphere and location of the shop though, and she was nice, thats about it.

I first contacted Laura back in mid-June of 2013 with the tattoo idea Id had mulling around in my head for a few years but just couldnt get designed on my own. She said it sounded like a fun tattoo but had a waiting list of about six months. Having seen her portfolio and deciding she was the perfect artist for the style of tattoo that I wanted, I went onto the waiting list. Finally, she contacted me in early December and we had our consultation where I again went over my idea. She took notes on everything I wanted and said shed have a sketch for me a few days ahead of our session. When my plans for our session date had to be changed because of unforeseen circumstances on my end, she let me know that shed had a weekend cancellation that was the Saturday after Christmas, so I jumped on it!She sent me a sketch idea for the tattoo on Christmas night, surprisingly and was almost bang on exactly what I wanted already. With a few really minor tweaks, I was all set for my appointment which was today. Firefly Tattoo is in an historic old building and its very clean, very well-lit and believe it or not, very peaceful! Not at all what you expect out of a tattoo place when you think of all the shady storefronts you see in whatever city you live in. They only take appointments, so theres no rabble just wandering in and theres no phones either, so when youre there for your tattoo, youre getting all the attention of your artist. And believe me, theyre all artists.My tattoo is exactly what I wanted and Ive already got another appointment set up with Laura to fix up an older tattoo that I have. I dont plan on a lot more tattoos, but anytime I decide I need another one, Laura is definitely who Im going to and shes going to be who I suggest people go visit! I am super impressed with Firefly Tattoo Collective. I got a piece done by Gerrit (and am in the process of getting more) and the whole process was handled well. The appointment only basis creates a professional atmosphere from the beginning and the work that all of them put out is outstanding. Everyone was very friendly and made it a comfortable environment. You might have to wait a bit as many of the artists are booked in advance, sometime several months, but the end product is by far worth it!

I did not get my first tattoo until I was 35 years old so it was obviously something I didnt do lightly. I did extensive research to pick my artist and was willing to drive a significant way to get the best possible art. I chose Dina and have not regretted it for even a second. I sent her MANY pictures and ideas of what I wanted and I am pretty picky about things. Dina created an original piece of art that has far exceeded my expectations. My husband had several tattoos from a variety of other artists but he is now also loyal only to the amazing folks at Firefly. Dina created a tree of life cover for his 90s barbed wire that is unbelievable. Each time we visit Dina, we leave excited for what we want next. She is very kind and patient. She is so creative and her art is beautiful. When people ask why I drive all the way to Indy, I tell them its because Dina is the type of person Id be friends with, not a a creepy stereotype of what a tattoo artist is like. Firefly is the kind of place that has an easy comfort (despite the pain involved in the process). Each of the artists has a unique style but the quality of each is superb. I would trust any of them to create a tattoo for me without question. I couldnt give a higher recommendation!

Ive been a client of Gerrits for almost 2 years. The tattoo he did back then still looks great! Even though Im pretty dark complected, and the colors still look fantastic. I originally came to him after being frustrated with 3 other shops. Hes done some touch ups and done new pieces, and they all look fantastic! Im always proud to show them off :) Hes a very talented artist, both with tattoos and his other pieces! I love the relaxing, friendly environment in Firefly. Dina and Laura are very talented, friendly people, who are usually working very hard to design tattoos for their own clients when Im there. I regularly recommend Firefly for any of my friends wanting a good looking tattoo!

I recently had two tattoos completed by Laura and had a great experience. These were my very first tattoos, so I was incredibly nervous. However, Laura made me feel completely comfortable and made sure I liked the design, location, size, etc. before we started. After that I took a deep breath and let it go. Laura did a great job of knowing when I was a bit tired and need to take a break. Id highly recommend their studio. All three were there while I was in the studio - and were great chatting with. The studio is a great location downtown.

Firefly is a very comfortable place with a laid back atmosphere. You never feel intimidated or snubbed coming here. The artists are friendly and professional and very committed to their art and their craft. The shop is clean, very hygienic and the artists use high quality equipment. Its a great place to come for your first tattoo or your second full sleeve.

Agree with all of the previous statements. Private atmosphere, personal service, unique custom tattoo work. The no phone thing made me slightly hesitant at first, because it seems so inconvenient, but a simple email got conversation flowing and it was nice not having any interruptions during my session. Highly recommend!

Ive had many tattoos from Laura at Firefly Tattoo over the past year and I have to say they are the best tattoos Ive ever had. Even after sending many pictures we talk about just what is wanted and what can be done before every session. Each of my tattoos has turned out even better than I ever could have expected. Based on what Ive seen of Dina and Gerrits works, they are also excellent at their art. At this point I would never go anywhere else.

This is simply an excellent shop. The artists all have a strong fine arts background and love their work. I came to my artist, Gerrit, with a concept, and the composition that he developed blew me away. He incorporated everything I wanted into a design that I never could have envisioned. The atmosphere of Firefly is genuine and friendly. It is a comfortable environment to get a tattoo for anybody who appreciates the art of the industry. They really value you as a customer and an individual. This isnt some shop where they just want your money, here they care about you and your design.

Firefly Tattoo Collective is not what many people have in mind when they think of a tattoo shop. Think more art studio where the artists happen to be putting art onto your body. The shop is awesome...clean, light, airy, great views, great art. No blaring metal music, smoky air, or scary looking artists (that was actually my first tattoo experience!). Dina has done 3 pieces on me, and each experience has been great. I did have a healing problem with one of the pieces, a reaction to a particular ink color, which Dina figured out and has avoided using ever since. Dina, Laura, and Gerrit are all amazing artists, and I honestly think that whatever you could dream up for a tattoo design, these three could make it a reality for you. Could not recommend them any more highly. Great people, great place, amazing art. Glad to have found them and to be associated with them.

I absolutely love this place! All of the artists there are very friendly and they actually listen to you. The atmosphere is perfect. I enjoyed the fact that we werent interrupted at all because they dont have phones in the shop. Im going there for all of my tattoos.

Some of the most talented artists in Indianapolis! Each artist has a clear style so check out their online portfolios. But plan to wait a few months ... Most of the artists have quite a waiting list for new clients. Theyre that good --and worth the wait whether its a new project or a cover-up.

I got my first tattoo at Firefly with Dina Verplank! We initially met for a consultation where we discussed the concept and she had me send images for her to reference. When she sent me her sketch it was like she was in my brain and created what I could not put into words! Not only did I get an amazing tattoo, but she also gave me the sketch which I plan on framing in my house:) Her creativity is inspiring and I really feel like I left with a top notch, one of a kind piece of art. I just got my first tattoo ever at Firefly. The experience was wonderful. Laura, my artist, was very professional and courteous. The studio is bright, cheery and just a pleasant place to be. There was no walk in customers, no stopping to answer the phone during my inking. I couldnt imagine a better way to get inked.

I had a tattoo done by Dina. She created a beautiful design, was professional, patient, and very calming (and the facility is beautiful!). I sat for about 2.5 hours for the outline and will go back in a month for the color. I really look forward to continuing to work with her on this project, and would highly recommend Firefly to anyone looking to get a tattoo.

I was a recent customer of Firefly, never had a tattoo in my life. I was nervous and anxious and a little stressed (a picture on my body thats there for life!). The Firefly artists were extremely at ease, understanding, and even made things humorous to calm my nerves. The place looks very professional - you could say its the Mercedes Benz of Tattooing. But thats only to describe the professional and sleek look of the location. The artists and the atmosphere are more like.....well....the Google office in CA. If you can picture it. Everyone there really does love their job and takes pride in everything they do - putting ink to skin.Gerrit was my artist and he tattooed my family crest. It came out better than expected and he was gracious as ever. He did not rush anything. Actually, he worked on it well into the night because I could tell he really wanted the tattoo to be perfect. The lines were super straight and sharp.I rarely do review anything online, a little too busy, but I had to write something up. Firefly left me a very satisfied customer, especially since their product is on my body for life - it better be darn good. And it was! They are very booked, so be patient. Would you wait 2-4 months to get a tattoo that looks amazing and is perfect to your imagination or would you want the tattoo within days after having an impulse of getting it? Since it is a life decision, I wanted to wait and it was well worth it.

Dina is a wonderful artist! Excellent line work and color saturation. She did my shoulder tattoo 2 years ago, and just did my foot. Both are beautiful.

Without a doubt, the most professional, clean, friendliest tattoo business I have ever been in. And with over 24 years in Law Enforcement/Federal Government, I have seen more than several tattoo businesses. Firefly is definitely Top Notch. If my mother or daughter were getting a tattoo, this is where I would insist they go. The artistic insight from Gerrit was incredible. I went in thinking I knew exactly what I wanted. After just a few minutes with Gerrit, my tattoo went from kind of cool to absolutely mind boggling. Im still looking in the mirror in amazement. These folks are brining a whole new spectrum to the tattoo industry. I walked in feeling like another customer....I walked out feeling like one of my friends done something really great for me. I have started the process of a cover up by Gerrit at Fire Fly Tattoo. They are very professional, and is unlike any tattoo business I have ever been to. These people are artist and do not make mistakes. I cant wait to see the finished tattoo.

I never submit reviews, but after my experience with Gerrit and Firefly Tattoo, I just have to submit one. I came to Gerrit with a horror story of a bad tattoo (first tattoo of all things too). Original tattoo from a tattoo party, NOT by Gerrit, was horribly painful, bled for 2 weeks, scarred, 45 minutes of hell and regret, and on and on and on.... Came to Gerrit 3 months later to get it fixed. He turned this horrible/shameful thing into an absolute awesome realistic piece of artwork. 3 hours in his chair was extremely less painful, no bleeding AT ALL, just an outstanding wonderful job. The tattoo was a tribute to my kids and I am so relieved and proud to show it to my kids it is great. I couldnt be happier. They smiled so big seeing it look realistic that it made me proud to show it to them. Dont make my original mistake and rush into a tattoo with a guy that said hes been doing it for 25 years, Gerrits talent at making a tattoo realistic and attention to detail is INCREDIBLE and so worth the wait. You get what you pay for and it was worth every penny and more. The shop was very professional, quiet, relaxing, non-disruptive. It resembles nothing of the seedy tattoo shops around town. I enjoyed every minute being there to hang out and get tattooed. I could speak volumes around this place, but not to bore everyone, simply put, it was well worth the wait and I will NEVER go to anyone else put Firefly Tattoo and Gerrit for a realistic tattoo. Cant wait to figure out what I want next! Thank you so much Gerrit!
