Besides the Discovery Center there is an elevator where great, unique views await at the bottom. Taking the elevator down to the water and looking up at the remains of the old power plants that used to be along the Niagara River ages ago is really cool. The stone walls and intakes are still visible. The maid of the mist boats are stored on the platform at the base of the elevator in winter but in summer youre able to walk in that area and view the river and the Rainbow Bridge from below. Theres a small hiking trail that takes you along the Niagara river a short distance. Theres another much longer hiking trail from the bottom that takes you along the gorge to the top. Or you can just take the elevator back up top.
The center has an administration fee. Free parking. Nice landscape and gardening. Has a short trail(1.2mile?) and the trial head looks very attractive (has a bridge!). Has public restroom. sells the trolley ticket here. Located at the South of the Whirlpool Park and North of the Goat Island. Good starting point.
Awesome place! Small but it is full of information!!! The whole story of the falls, pieces of history is amazing! We got the passes so going here was part of the package but worthy!!! We love the place! This is the second time we been there! The falls are just an amazing place so surreal!!!
It took 52 years to get my honey to the destination of her dreams...we parked our RV on goat Island and spent the day on the bus dropping off to view the beauty and natural wonder you have to see to appreciate...dont wait 52 years guys I have a patient woman, on ed of a kind beauty...like the Falls
It is a good place for scene actually.
Very informative.
This place has alot of interesting info and artifacts
Are real Hidden Gem. Well worth the few dollar donation. Lots of interesting information that you never knew the best part is the elevator down to the gorge on the outside of the museum Center. Once youre down into the Gorge all the information in the Discovery Center starts to make sense. Very unique well worth the time to stop. Parking can be challenging but there is a bigger lot across the access Bridge. But please hire somebody with a weed wacker.
Find out a bit of the history of one of our nations most well known/beautiful tourist attractions.
Nothing to really discover here. Dying location. The only thing keeping Niagara falls alive is the falls that being said the maid of the mist and cave of the winds was really the best parts
Exceptionally amiable, aesthetically pleasing, and one of the worlds best eco-friendly locations situated in Niagara Falls, NY on the American side of Niagara Falls. Offers an excellent vacation spot for all vacationers and is undoubtedly one of the most relaxing and delightful getaway locations to escape from the monotonous workaday life that one inevitably has to go back to.
Very neat to see the history! The people working here were very nice. Some updates would really make this place a five star attraction. The gorge was awesome. I loved going down the elevator and seeing it all.
Must be the last in the list when you visit Niagara Falls.. the show was cool and came to know the history of Niagara Falls..
I loved the place, a little bit outside the falls, but if youre someone interested in acquiring some knowledge about thing, probably this is a place along with romantic, thrilling niagara view
Love the history!
Great view
Good staff, movie was not panoramic but good one to know the history
Definitely didnt know there was an elevator that takes you down and brings you up to the top. Pretty sweet
Great experience - free! Well worth the time, and very educational. So much to see and do that it occupied our youngest (4) for hours.
Nice park
Ok place, very informative. 20 minute video plays every half hour inside about history of the falls. This and the Aquarium were at the very north end of the park and were probably the most in need of updating. Still worth checking out in my opinion.
Great attractive place to get started to pick up ur brochure and trolley passes
Wonderful information about the falls. Really educational for the kids to get an understanding of our history.
Small, but interesting. We were able to get in on the parks Discovery Pass, but wouldnt have paid otherwise.
Nice place. Thought there was very little to see.
Feels super old and its very small. Good place to get into some AC waiting for the trolley, though.
Low-cost natural history lesson about the Niagara Gorge. Worth the $3 admission, and has a water bottle refill station.
One of the places at Niagara Falls that adds information to the fun.
MOBBED!! If you cant find parking on Goat Island prepare to be scalped...and be prepared to spend most of your day waiting in packed lines. On hot days it seems many visitors from abroad arent accustomed to using deodorant, so be prepared for that too.
So awesome to come in and see the real time camera is cool love the rocks ans minerals
Nice place
Reasonably priced. Good information. Nice stop on the tour
This place was sort of neat, but needs a serious update. It looks like it was plucked directly from the 1950s.
Awesome,The sales people were professional and warm; the tour enjoyable for our group
Get the pass, greatest value for all attractions
Had so much fun! Well priced and well worth it.
Good film of history. A geological overview of area
The employees were very helpful
Looks nice
Great Staff. Kinda dated. Needs updating.
The historical movie was good.
I don’t even know how many times I have been here. I wish I could fly my drone and eat some cool shots. I wish they had some place where one could take permission to fly drone here.
Very interesting and you can really read alot about the falls.
The history presentation was ok. Very informative.. however not impressed
Feels dated, enjoyed the information and was very nice but kids and myself lost interest quickly.
Nothing exciting to see here. Better skip this place if you are in tighter schedule.
Movie was informative, but needs to be updated.
Exhibits did get a bit monotonous. There is a cool view and and elevator to take you down to gorge level.
Its nice center collection of history and discovers around Niagara. It is worth visiting this place for some time.
Visiting Niagara Falls was absolutely fantastic. We parked at the Discovery Center and it was free. We got there before the trolley started operating but it ended up being a super short walk to see the smaller part of the falls. Due to time constraints we werent able to visit the longer horseshoe part of the falls. We were told that was a much longer walk. Highly recommended visit!
Was fun
Nice for my granddaughter. Hands- on experience.
Nice stop after going to the falls
Its ok.the movie was good.near to aquarium
Any questions about attractions in the Niagara Falls? Then this is the place you wanna go!! Free parking and for $3 you can be driven by the numerous trolley buses from place to place all day. They have discounted packages you can buy and the center houses a ton of history about the area, including a 20 minute history channel movie for a small fee. Great views & a walking bridge to the Aquarium (instead of parking fee at their lot, park here free & walk over!
Great staff
Liked the info but is very small and some/most buttons and interactive displays are not working. Friendly staff. Nice trail info. The best thing was the elevator to the gorge which i believe is free and separate from this place but is advertised by the staff.
Nice information, water bottle refill spot!
Lots of interesting facts.
It the greatest place.
Dated and didnt really hold anyones interest long.
Nice with helpful folks. Use the trolley, $3 all day, 10 min. Between trolleys. Worthwhile!
Its very outdated, including information that science has since revised. The staff is very nice though.
Place to know best known tours in Niagara
Few more collections would be great
Beautiful scenery of the gorge and canada side... Still not open
Best movie and museum in the area.
Cool place and neat place to check out the history of the area and Falls.
Very interesting information on the history of the falls
Small and informative. Video was good but old. Front desk was really helpful
Bit dated, needs repairs. Many of the interactive information stations dont work.
Nice place but you can tell its on a slow decline. The displays need some serious love and attention. The people are very friendly!
Not much to this. Outside bathrooms locked, need a ticket to use ones inside or have to go over to the aquarium.
I didnt really dislike it... but it is really dated and if it wasnt included with the discovery pass I would not have paid to go in.
A place with decent information about the history of the gorge. But a little overpriced.Theres not a whole lot to see though and nothing that you cant get online. It also looks rundown. Needs a facelift.
It was nice to learn about the gorge
Ive lived in the Falls area my whole life and never once went here. Really enjoyed reading about the history of the plant that one stood here, and its weird seeing pieces of it still laying around in the gorge.
Very good place, the people ran it were very friendly! You have a nice view of the falls from here and you can take the trolley from this location right down to the falls and other part of the tourist places.
A fun visit
Somewhat dated, but the displays were informative, covering the major historical themes of Niagara including power generation and local geology. The depth of information was pretty limited, aimed perhaps at a middle school level. The short (20 min) History Channel produced film was informative regarding development of the area as a tourist attraction over the last few hundred years. Some of the interactive displays were broken when we visited, and the parking lot was completely closed for construction (park at the aquarium and walk over), which also greatly limited the outdoor access around the facility.
Nice place to visit with short movie about Niagara and small exhibits. Admission was part of the pass but otherwise probably not worth paying by itself.
Great place for biking, spending a full day with family. loads to learn about science, nature and myth.
This is the secret to free parking at Niagara Falls. Come early, get the Discovery Pass. Highly recommend doing Cave of the Winds first and getting the free sandals to keep for Maid of the Mist.
Awesome place.
Nice place to get info
A place everyone should visit!
The place seems old but does give you a lot of history about Niagara Falls.
Great location for picnics, hiking and biking. You can see Niagara Falls from a distance and a tour helicopter takes off and lands near ny making it that much more dramatic and adds some excitement. The Discovery Center itself needs to be open more often so definitely call if you plan on going inside for a history tour.
Very informative of the history of Niagara Falls.
Fun Place!
Great educational place.
It was very informative, I learned where the name Tesla came from, lol.
The best part about this place is the trails behind the center. Very close to the water.
