Newport is one of the oldest settlements in the Americas. Definitely one of the oldest cities in the US. The district is well preserved - With buildings, churches and even houses meticulously and beautifully maintained. Speaking of which, most of the houses here are still inhabited. Be careful if you feel like checking out an old iron door knocker! While there, also be careful about being too invasive in peoples privacy. Having said that, if youre a history buff - This place is the Kingdom of Heaven!
Extraordinarily well-preserved town. So much to see and do and all saturated in historical context. Definitely a must visit for the Colonial period afficionado.
Fun and lots to see if you like history. Harbor view restaurants dont disappoint with views.
