We visited this place on Friday and we enjoyed it so much! The pier is very iconic place. The view is very Beautiful! You can fish while you enjoy the the day and weather. It wasn’t good cold, but not hot at all. The estructure isn’t new and May need new painting. It’s a good place to breath air while you can keep social distancing from others. The public bathrooms near the pier are open.

Its just awesome Newport Beach is kept the way I can remember it from when I was a kid many years ago. I dont have any problems with the way things are now days. Even the police and as well as the locals are very pleasant to be around. And I think them all from the bottom to the top of my heart for having us be able to come visit anytime we like. You can say that the old saying is correct. Its just like being in Paradise even on a bad day

This is a nice little place to hang out and to get out of the house. My wife and I rented some bikes and went sight seeing. Will be going back at some point.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit! Ample parking by meter, and lots of space to spread out and enjoy the view! Make sure to walk down the pier as well!

Parking can be a little insane but worth it when the weather is in perfect condition as it was today, a nice 84 degrees with a little breeze. Rented a few bikes and had the time of our lives. Then finished are day off with a tent on the beach and some shrimp cocktails that we made from scratch at home so we can enjoy the sunset correctly! Our daughter loved every minute of it as she played in the sand with her toys. Great view as you can see in our picture!

Beach:Sand wasnt that soft, its very rough far from the shoreline, but closer to the water it gets softer and is easily moldable for sand castles. The water looked dirty and pretty much black and cloudy. Im fine around beaches, but I was getting itchy here from the coarse sand and ocean water. The waves were strong, and the water was cold. We did go on a cloudy day, and after 6pm the water started to warm up, weirdly enough.Parking Lot Info:Parking costs $2.55 an hour around there, or as I could see from the app you MUST download in order to pay for parking. The pay stations are shut down with a sticker on it telling you to download the app. Its dumb to assume everyone has a smartphone for that. The Old Spaghetti Factory was charging $50 a spot, when this area stops charging for parking after 6pm. I cant believe there were people who actually paid that. Theres also this parking garage I saw, charges $6 for first two hours and after that, charges some crazy proportion for every 15 minutes.I rather drive 2 hours to San Diego; free parking, better, affordable food, and more stuff to do. Theres also very soft sand and clear ocean water in La Jolla.

LOVE this place! Great food and all the shops have such friendly staff! Definitely recommend if youve never been. Decent bathrooms. Clean beach. Rent boards or bikes and grab an ice cream!

A very nice pier on the beautiful Pacific Coast of Southern California. The restaurant at the end of the pier is now closed, but there are some nice views and people still catch edible fish from there. It is a marvelous place for an evening stroll to catch the sunset...

It took me like 40 minutes to find a parking space. Although, once I parked, I went to the beach with my friend and the sunset was incredible. The pier is also a nice place. Theres a lot of people here and it has good vibes.

Love love love love love this beach!The lights are on 24hours.Parking is free after 6pm.24hours open.The pier is open but if there’s a lot of people, police will kick out people at the pier and lock the gate.

Took my boys here to go fishing for the first time and they had a blast. We went at night, so it wasnt overly packed. The people here were nice and happy to help them out, sharing bait and fishing strategies. Whatever fish they caught, they gave to them so Im sure that helped!Right off the pier there are several places to eat and drink. From restaurants to a corn dog stand, to bars and even a place that looks like they normally have dancing. Oh yeah, and a small taco bell too. Id definitely come back here again for fishing or to have dinner and a drink.*tip* parking is free after 6pm

Its more quiet than the Balboa Pier, more locals more local visit this spots, it is more toured neighborhoods of newport tourest stoped usually at the first beach coming into the island.bathrooms are not the best, they have no doors and they smell very bad but theres plenty of parking space,

Parking is expensive $2.25 an hour and hard to find, so come early. For the most, people seem to be conscious of others by distancing and wearing a mask, but in the end, the beach does make you want to breathe in the air. Love coming to this pier for fishing. Morning or night time, so relaxing. Theres Mackerel and Bonito mostly being caught.

This place is amazing. The shops along the beach are awesome. I feel safe because it has a lot of life guards and the night life is great

Walked around the farmers market on Saturday. It was foggy, cool and beautiful. Then I walked down the beach path....very nice spot to come if you want to jog, walk, or ride a bike.

Like coming here. Seems like alot of people are pedalling for money and alot of homeless are hanging around. Alot of people were not wearing a mask, felt uncomfortable and left.

Quintessential SoCal pier. We had a great time. We were there the 3rd week of October. The weather was beautiful, the beach beautiful, it was fantastic. We saw a seal playing at the end of the pier. The beach to the right of the pier, if youre looking out to sea, is perfect for kids. We cant wait to come back!

Hey now, what can I say? Newport Beach is truly breathtaking. Its really hard to be in a depressed mood in this beautiful atmosphere. Fresh ocean air, sun beaming down, happy faces everywhere and just cool beach vibes. I recommend this spot for anyone who needs a healthy pick me up. You can also visit if youre already in good spirits. It can only get better

This place is the best pier I ever been to. The waves were going and mom and dad feed me good food and we had a nice vacation and we went into the water.

Quirky. It has a paved pier you can ride up with your board or bike. Theres a boarded up building at the end of the pier I wish was still being used. Theres a beach shack next to the pier made of thin boards. Theres a globe monument and surfer statue. There are some European styled buildings with fancy restaurants. There are two burger joints also close to the pier. You might see see a topless dude riding around on a longboard.

I love it here! From looking at fishermen catch fish, to the donut shop a few steps away to grabbing a corn dog. The donut shop is open 24/7. My husband and I love taking spontaneous trips here. We come from 50min away just to grab a coffee and donut to take a stroll on the pier with the beautiful moonlight and the soothing sounds of the waves.

This is such a beautiful beach. It is also pretty clean (some people were rude and left trash on the beach; tea bag, cigarette butts, bottle caps). Still, its still pretty clean, and my wife and I love it!

Even though covid, this place has maintained decently ...I was disappointed though by the walk to the end of the pair to see the building boarded up, and looking trashy and all the nasty, slimy/dirty fish guts (etc..) down at the end and all the fisherman crowding the end of the pier, its like they dont professionally or to feed their families...ita no longer a fun place to go fishing with friends or family...and its pretty disgusting TBH, rheybreally need to close it down once a week for a serious power-wash cleaning and disinfecting and let the sun light work its magic for one day each week, at least.

Had an amazing time, rented a few bikes and cruised up and down the beach coast!! Very nice views and much more enjoyable than Venice and all the homeless setting up there tents! Come here instead family friendly!

Great place to walk and rent bikes with the family. Good place to look at the shops and go shopping.If you are looking for fresh fish, halibut, shrimp, go early since it sells fast and its next to the pier.A lot of breakfast and coffee shops to choose from.

A beautiful place for a walk. When you go out to the end of the pier there are a lot of local fishermen. That day a large school of fish were at the base of the pier and the fisherman looked like they had a pretty nice catch! Watch out for creepy guys who try to get all close to the girls in the group, but I guess thats most places these days.

The day was overcast, yet beautiful. It was wonderful getting out and walking. Surfers were freezing though.

I love coming here. After a long day at work and the routine its nice to come here for a nice walk at the beach

This was my first time stepping in the Pacific ocean and Im happy I was able to do so at this beach. It was a really nice experience and Ill never forget it!

Its a ok pier. Went in the evening and there were quite a few teenagers hanging out on their bikes and skateboards because its summer of course and beautiful night to be out and about. Lots of people fishing off the Pier so kinda hard to get a spot to look over and out at the water. Watch your step fish guts and bird poop here.

Not as clean or kept up as it was 10 years ago. I remember coming here when I got my first car and enjoying it very much that whole summer.Now there are more homeless than before, people shouting and fighting and the crowd just isnt the same.People are rude, dirty and there is trash everywhere.Its run down more than ever before and the atmosphere isnt that great.For a 6am run its fine but to come for a beach day not so much.Id suggest going to a cleaner beach.Laguna Nigel has a few hidden gems if you are willing to drive over there.

Great to walk down the pier. As you walk down the pier, scenic views of the water as well as the north and south shores of the expensive real estate. Lots of seagulls and pelicans. Lovely. End of the pier is beautiful. Depending on the time of the day, you can catch the sunlight reflecting off the 360 water views. The pier is in need of some maintenance. The boardwalk is nice and lined with expensive and good looking houses and restaurants.The beaches are clean.

Love Newport Beach and the bar / restaurant scene since moving near there last year (I live in Long Beach, literally 30 minutes away and a nice drive too). The pier area and activities around there are fun and family friendly. Take a date too, theyll enjoy an easy drink, and quick or formal bite to eat, and dint skip on a nice stroll on and off the beach! Or maybe just treat yourself to a delightful day, possibly into evening, in this picturesque community... Enjoy!

I have visited the Newport Beach Pier twice so far for my photo shoots. Once last year for sunset, and once this year for sunrise. As long as the weather and skies look ideal, this really is a picture perfect place for landscape photography. I highly recommend this place for a quick getaway. It is an awesome place to enjoy both sunrises and sunsets, and there are many restaurants around to enjoy some food afterward.

Sunset views from the pier and it is always so relaxing. There is always a nice breeze on the hottest day, and if youre lucky, you may even see a sea lion.

Lots of great shops, but crowded. The beach is beautiful!

What a beautiful beach and fishing pier!!! Loved the shops and food!! We all ended up with straw hats...and we look so adorable...lol!!! The yellow house is my dream home on the beach. Great waterfront rentals and dining. Was much warmer than expected...but it was a fun afternoon!!

Went there to watch the sunset. Its beautiful and fun to be among all the people. Lots of choices for food and some good shops too. My kids loved playing on the beach and walking down the pier. Definitely a spot we like to visit, and will re-visit again!

Visiting this pier is perhaps one of the best reasons to enjoy being outside. It is a synthesis of experiencing the freshness of the clear salt breeze of the ocean air along with the stillness of standing on solid ground. It is very relaxing to enjoy people having a lazy day surfing, playing in the sand, soaking in the sun rays or flying a kite.

Real deal Italians cooking what they love to ear. Seriously! I am super particular about just good pie. This is IT! Oh, they got other good looking goods I just havent got to get. It is small...but you MUST LOOK FOR IT!!

The Newport Beach Pier is a fun, family friendly attraction. My kids enjoyed playing on the sand and in the water. There are plenty of restaurants and bars. Parking is not easy to find due to the high demand, but once you park it will be a full day of fun!

COVID-19 Review (just for those curious, will delete after quarantine)Ive been contemplating whether to visit the beach since I can go for a few times a year and I couldnt find a proper description of how the situation is to determine my choice, so I went to see it myself.I went to the beach for my annual evening visit and it is packed, especially with fishers at the pier. I dont mind the crowd, what gave me anxiety was the lack of consideration from the majority of the residents and visitors. Some dont wear masks, keep a distance, or even glance at the shop regulations of limiting people. Some old guy coughed behind me without the use of their mask or proper covering while exceeding the number of people allowed in the confined space of a donut shop (he and his friends didnt even buy anything). Some beach house renters are bored out of their minds (they looked like 40 something year olds) they lighted a hunting flashlight directly at the face of other visitors, twice to my companion. Overall, I left the beach with a bad taste.But the ocean and sky are looking swell (as in not as polluted so you can see more!), the seals are enjoying their abundance of fish, and there were many schools of them. Which is what I visit for and they were a joy to look at when I was at a blissful corner at the pier.This was just one Saturday evening for me. If you are considering visiting the beach, maybe try out at another time sooner than 6 pm or another day if you dont like the circumstances similar to mine. If you dont mind, go for it, but please be considerate.

Ironically, the Newport pier has a run-down shack at the end that used to be a cafe or something, but the Balboa pier a mile or so down the beach is a smaller pier yet has a nice retro cafe (Rubys). It was too cold to swim or anything, but just watching surfers and the surf was beautiful, peaceful. Clean beach with lovely views.

The atmosphere along the boardwalk was booming with locals and tourists that were checking out the hip bars, surf shops, candy and donut shops and the dining choices. The beach itself was super clean and was being patrolled by life guards. It costs to park until 6p week days, and honestly its inexpensive. Perfect for someone to spend the day alone with their thoughts or vacationing. Gorgeous setting for a wedding!

I like the pier and would have given 5 stars, but there were many people who were out on the pier NOT wearing a face covering of some sort. I see why when people go to the beach/pier they are getting COVID-19. I only was out of the car long enough to get some ice cream and then back. While in the car, I kept the windows rolled up. Too many people walling around the pier with no mask wasnt good for me.

Great place to relax and have fresh air. Very clean surroundings. Pier well maintained. Friendly people. But parking is difficult. nearby pay parking is always full. Bars almost everywhere. good place to eat and walk around.

I mean, its always nice to go to the pier. Its not as glorious as Santa Monica pier come up but it has a real charm that is very enjoyable. And definitely not as crowded as Santa Monica pier, which is really nice!

Beautiful! Scenic.... nice area for fishing. Good catches! We can purchase fresh fish directly from the fishing guys. Kids loved viewing through the telescope! Lots of seagulls. Nice walking on the pier.Good parking facilities (free after 6pm).

Beautiful day most are wearing masks. Businesses are open. Venders under tents and musicians were playing at the 21st Street walkway going up to the pier.

Came here last year and had such an amazing time! We used the trolley and tried to experience as much as we could. We could spend all day here. So much to see and do!

Its a beautiful place to visit. The crowds are never bad, but Im always there off season, never summer. Theres always dolphins near by, saw a sea lion this last trip. Theres a Rubys on the end of the pier. The bathrooms are rough but its a pier.

The pier was gorgeous. The beach is beautiful. Theres not that much parking at the actual pier though, but theres a parking structure nearby. Theres food and beverages right by the beach. All in all, good time.

First time here and definitely going to plan a return trip. The shops/restaurants are a little pricey but we brought an ice chest with our own food so other then parking it didnt have to cost anything if we didnt want it to but we did splurge on some smoothies for all of us. Parking was a little over $20 from 8am to 4pm so very not bad for taking the grandson to see the ocean for the first time. Drones are fine as long as you are responcable with your flying and check that theres no special restrictions at the time. The pier is a great place to get some really good footage and pictures from the unusual perspectives a drone allows you to get. I just avoid flying over ANYONE and keep it moving so that no one thinks that Iam spying on them and I had no issues. As long as you dont hover 10 ft. Away with your camera pointed straight people or fly like you might take their head off or crash into them (AKA flying responcablely) then they generally dont mind drones. Its not over the top ritzy but down to earth, friendly, and clean with some dignity and class.

Very pleased and fun atmosphere for the whole family. There is plenty to do on this beach, you can relax in the area, sunbathe, swim in the sea or rent a bike and enjoy around the beach. I live in Florida and I was surprised with this beach, we dont have a nice beaches like this.

Stopped by at Newport beach for a while when I was in Orange County. It was a nice beach to hangout and take pictures. A lot of People were surfing and you can get the good view from docks. There were not many people compared to other beaches in vicinity. Recommend going there! Hang out, surf, take bunch of photos!! You’ll enjoy your time there!

I love this pier. I love this city, and would move here if I could. Nice restaurants both cheaper and nicer. Once I saw the coast guard playing with kids by spraying the from their helicopter! The water is clear and the waves are small. Great for swimming and sunbathing.

Great place to go to. Lots of friendly people everywhere. Only problem is trying to find some where to park in the middle of the day, you have to go around the parking area a few times and hope that someone is leaving the area when your going around.

The sight, seeing, is enjoyable! I saw people fishing in the pier, with succesful fish catch and one seal, below the pier.

Beautiful place for a walk anytime of the day. Lots of shops and places to eat right before you walk down the pier. Kind of hard to find parking. Worth it to do it though!

Newport Beach what a great place to be, a great place to grow up, to visit, to come and see. Born and raised in Southern California, Newport Beach is one of my favorite beaches; skate, rollerblade, walk or ride your bike on the boardwalk, people watch walk in the sand run in the sand play some flag football in the sand volleyball in the sand eat some ice cream have some slice of pizza if some expensive Gourmet Foods go walk down the pier and back great place for a first date spontaneous date its completely different at night at as it is in day time or early in the morning whatever you do dont trash my beach our beach this beach is a clean Beach pick up your trash dont bring glass bottles get in trouble enjoy the multimillion-dollar homes along the boardwalk dont mess with peoples properties nice to look at if you get invited in be humble and enjoy the party other than that have fun Newport Beach is the best place to be watch out Newport Beach police are police so be careful party responsibly

Nice pier with beautiful views of Newport Beach. A very relaxing place to sit and enjoy the scenery and watch people attempt to surf. There were no shops on the pier like Santa Monica. A great place for pier fishing, it was full of fisherman when I visited. The shops and restaurants at the end of the pier were fantastic. Great place for kids. Pier is open from 5AM to Midnight.

Beautiful place to take that special someone. But in this Corona era, it starts to feel claustrophobic with all the people not wearing masks. If you can avoid the crowd, then it is worth the trip.
