Science centers are great places for traveling families to spend a few hours out of the elements. Unlike most attractions, they have a knack for enlightening and entertaining inquisitive minds at the same time. The Iron Hill Science Center is located on Robert L. Melson Lane in Newark and has been known to keep visitors engaged for hours. Its exhibits touch on a variety of topics, including technology, history, art, and the natural world. Many of them focus on how those things relate to the state and local area. The center’s staff hosts a number of special programs and events throughout the year, too, so check their website before making a special trip.
I signed up my son for one of Iron Hills summer week-long camp program, where they explored, hiked, and learned about fossils, dinosaurs and other interesting stuff. They even built a working volcano. We also went on a trip to The Academy of Science Museum of Drexel (in Philly). This camp was led by a friendly, well-organized staff. I felt that my son was safe with this particular group and he had a lot of fun. Well definitely sign up for next summers weekly camp programs.
I completed a merit badge for Boy Scout with the nice people that work here and got a lot done. I enjoyed all of the things they had to offer there and would recommend this place to others.
Small but important are kylo collection of historic memorabilia, metals and construction materials spending hundreds of years.
Cute little place for kids to have fun and learn.
The wild life and rock collection is second to none. The bath rooms are clean and water fountain are two sizes high and low, adult and kid.Outside is rustic as though the wild animals in the museum roamed the land.
I attended an archaeology and heritage festival. The museum has a science center and natural history museum as well as a preserved historic schoolhouse built in 1923 to serve African American students. The festival theme was the history of agriculture in Delaware and inthe vicinity of the museum. There were archaeological investigations and a host of historic skills demonstrations including a Time Chef and Colonial beer maker. So much to do for all ages!
Wonderful place to visit and learn the history of the area.
I enjoy the park for the scenery and exercise
There Was so much to learn about and the cover was really cheap. My son loved it.
