Saw Derren Brown’s The Secret here and the show was amazing and mesmerizing. The big “secret” to the show is truly a surprise until the end and we left dumbfounded, likely like the rest of the audience trying to make sense of what we had just watched and witnessed. It’s an entertaining, thought-provoking, and ultimately head-scratching piece of work. I’d see it again. Our seats were in the right orchestra section towards the rear but it’s a smaller theatre so still very close to the stage. Nice theatre overall.

The theater was very huge and the sounds were excellent. The only difficulty are the seatings. Its very hard to get to your seat as there is barely any space for your legs. The balcony had a bar which blocked some of the stage if you sat in the front row in the balcony.

Nice and large theatre. They have two bars. The staff was nice. They taught us tips on getting autographs. For example, there was a bit of drizzle but I didn’t use my umbrella, the security guard told me to cover the play bill because it would be hard to write on a wet surface.

Another classic Broadway theater. The current play, a drama, KING LEAR, is a must see with Glenda Jackson playing the king. Any Shakespeare fan my find this intellectually challenging due to its setting being a mix of King Lears time and the time when machine guns are the weapons of choice. I enjoyed this enough to want to go and see it again! Glenda Jackson, at 83, outperforms every other actor of any age.

Great staff, cheerful and helpful. Good price for tickets for a popular show. The reduced stars are for physical limits of the building.Like many theatres Ive been in New York, theres no foyer so youre spending the interval in your seat or in a crowded landing where they serve drinks.Number and location of toilets amazingly small for a large number of patrons who will almost all want to use them at the same time.Lastly, and I admit this is not my area of expertise, but I cant believe this place meets fire regulations. The main stairwells open into landings, which look like unprotected lobby designation, efficient directly connect to the seating areas. Distinct shortage of doors between any of these areas. Im happy to be proven wrong and even happier not to have to put it to the test.

Review №66

A jewel of a theater in the heart of Broadway. It was a pleasure and a privilege to see the magnificent Glenda Jackson as King Lear. I have no complaints at all. The theater and the staff were fantastic. As for some technical details: This theater is one of the few remaining original golden era theaters. It is over 100 years old. It is very lovely and absolutely worth the experience, but its important to keep a few things in mind before you go.Wheelchair and other accessable resources are limited. This building is a National Landmark and built decades before such vital standards existed. That said, there are wheelchair seating options and the venue is very much able and willing to accommodate you as much as they can.The seating is smaller than modern-day standards. The seats themselves are very comfortable - I have a spinal injury and I was able to sit for a 3.5 hour performance with very little problem. But the leg room is the real issue - there just isnt much of it to be had. Be aware that if you have issues with your legs, get an aisle seat or a seat in the front row of any section. Also, I arrived early because I knew there were several flights of stairs to deal with and I wanted to talk to the attendants about where I could stand quietly if I was in too much pain to sit. Turned out there was ample space literally right behind my seat, and they were very agreeable as long as I didnt block the aisle, which I would never do, and which sadly they have to combat multiple times every performance. Fire codes and common courtesy, people! Stay out of the aisles! The stairs: four pretty easy flights with handrails to the balcony, and there are facilities on every level, I believe. I was delighted to discover bathrooms on the balcony level, because my research had indicated that was not the case.Speaking of balcony: This is a small venue of 1,092 seats. Every single seat is a great seat. Dont you worry. $35 to see Glenda Jackson as Lear on Broadway for my birthday? YES PLEASE.So dont worry about money. Go to Broadway. You can do it. And if you can, see something grand and historic at The Cort.A perfect evening. It could only have been better if I had gotten to shake Ms Jacksons hand.A huge thanks to the great staff, who are always underappreciated but who really make the whole thing run. I see you. Youre awesome. Thanks so much for making my experience so wonderful.
