Great spot for some late night jazz and is the sister bar to Smalls. Im told the musicians can be hit or miss but thats not too surprising. When we visited the musicians were fantastic.Note that this is not a spot for conversation, they ask everyone to remain quiet and keep talking to a minimum while the musicians are playing their set. Pretty easy to just drop in!
Beautiful music! A very tiny Intimate place but they make it work. The staff was super friendly. Good selection of cocktails and light snacks.
Nice vibe, and cozy place to here intimate jazz.Get a bit too quite during the performance, understandably. So, if you are thinking of chatting do it between the sets, sets are an hour each with 30 minutes break each. There are about 3 sets each night and one drink minimum. Drinks were not great, reason for me knocking off one star.
One of the best jazz clubs in the city. Excellent choice for a date night. You get to hear some of the worlds greatest musicians in an intimate setting, what more can you ask for. Service is great and the aestethic is beautiful. A heads up that talking should be kept low for others to enjoy the music. If youre hanging with a friend you want to catch up with, you probably wont be able to during the sets.
Cosy and intimate jazz club in the west village. Does not serve food except some light snack and cheese, but good choice of beverages. Highly recommend reservations during the weekend as the 30 and something places available tend to finish quickly. Instruments here are played with no amplification so an opportunity to listen pure music.
Small intermittent club with nice atmosphere. Went on a Wednesday night. $20 dollar cover which I reserved in advanced. Sitted at small tables, which they. Sit 4 to a table 2 on inside and 2 in outside. Drinks and wine range from $12 to $15., also wine by the bottle. The set was a 3 piece combo, guitar, bass and piano. Very enjoyable. I believe your ticket can also get you into sister club across the street. Would recommend
Good and affordable entertainment in NYC. Must make reservations and get there early to get a good spot on the tiny and narrow basement. You’ll feel like you’re in a Prohibition era speakeasy. Please note that after the show you must leave the table make way for the next wave of guests if there’s another presentation.
We had an amazing experience there! The place is small, which gives a very nice and authentic vide to the place. However, for that reason be sure to reserve your spots in advance. You could do it on the internet, this is how we reserved, and we were seated just near the musicians :).Strongly recommend!!
If you like high quality jazz, superb musicians, and new compositions, do go here. you wont find this level of performance in your town. dont miss it. its just beyond definition.
A very cozy little jazz cellar with a fantastic program. Here the music is in the foreground. Very interesting are the combination tickets with the jazz club Smalls just a few hundred meters away. You can enjoy two sets at two locations for one ticket at one evening. I like that!
Im a long time Jazz fan, and over the past five decades (God, Im that old!) I have spent many nights and many dollars listening to jazz all over NYC. I go wherever the music appeals to me, and dont really care what it costs. Mezzrow is my favorite place, not only for the music, but for the vibe and the people who work there and run the club. And, for those who this does matter to: Mezzrow is a great deal -- you get to hear world class music, up front, for $20 a set -- and you get to go to Smalls for free!!While some people see the crowds at Mezzrow as a problem, I find it awesome to be sitting in a club full of knowledgeable listeners and jazz musicians whove come to hear their colleagues.Bravo Mezzrow!!!
One drink minimum and reserve a table beforehand if you want the best seats. Tiny place so all seating is intimate with the rest of the crowd. Killer spot for some of the best contemporary jazzers in NYC
Small, cozy venue with good drinks. The host was hilarious and not afraid to tell ppl to shut it during a show.
Fun, cozy, intimate setting for great jazz music. For menu seekers: The drinks list is very good, and reasonably-priced, but if youre looking for dinner, eat somewhere else first. There are a few snacks available, but no food menu as such. There is a one-drink required minimum, which can be juices or water or soda. Its a great place to hear music up close, but get there early (30-45 min.) to get a close table!
Great evening with friends and great jazz. Mezzrow has amazing acoustics and because it is a listening venue a great place to enjoy!
5 stars for the music BUT really disappointed by the staff. Also one of the fire exits was completely packed with music instruments used by the previous band... SAFETY FIRST
Nice place with old school jazz. Must make a reservation online to get in because it has only a few seats.
Lovely sister jazz club to Smalls. You head down the stairs and arrive at a lovely speakeasy-esque bar with odes to previous jazz musicians who have played here all around you. Great musicians and great ambiance. Its a wonderful place to get lost in the jazzLove to the bartenders! They are always busy but make such good drinks! It is a $20 entry fee but usually $10 for students and musicians. Best jazz club in the village!
Piano magic. Best way to spend a late Sunday afternoon in the Village.
Great place to listen to jazz. I recommend buying tickets online and arrive a few minutes earlier than the scheduled showtime to get the best seats. If you have seats, you must keep quiet while musicians are performing
A good space with good music, airier and a bit less intense than smalls across the street. Tickets for one are good at both placed.
Good music. 2 stars for server who charged my friend and I more for a drink than the price on the menu and was very mean about it when I brought it up. Didn’t fix the price and shamed me for caring about the difference. I just thought it was a mistake. She was working at 8pm on Monday August 5th 2019, had short dark hair, tattoos on her back.
Great addition to the city. Had the pleasure of being there for their 5th anniversary. They are on their way to becoming an iconic NYC place. The Listening Room is an intimate setting with a no talking policy, so you can really enjoy the music. Feels like you are in someone’s living room with a great hostess.
An intimate jazz club with top-notch musicians.
Great show! Intimate setting and great atmosphere. Staff is wonderful and really knows the menu and how to recommend drinks according to your likes/ dislikes
Had a great experience here on a Sunday night. excellent music, easy vibe! we ventured in after learning our ticket from Smalls, was valid here! will return!
Great little jazz venue. Small and cozy. I’m glad there are still places to see music like this around since sometimes it seems venues are closing left and right.Interesting cocktails and nice wine list.
Excellent, but is not the place where you can go an be loud, so unfortunately is not my place.
Relaxing atmosphere featuring the best jazz musicians in the world.
Pretty nice place, it feels like real NYC in 1900s. Underground place with a live jazz music performance. setting is very calm, staff was very friendly and welcoming.
I really like the intimate atmosphere and usually amazing music at Mezzrow. The cover charge + reasonable minimum is a small price to pay for such quality. As others have noted, you can possibly remain in the listening room after the set youve sat for, if they havent sold many tickets for the next set.Your admission will also get you into Smalls (if they have room for you!), just across 7th Ave. BTW youll need to also make the drink minimum there. Cheers.
Intimate place for live jazz. You can also visit Smalls with the same ticket.
De live stream should be more widely publisized thru SmallsLive/Mezzrow websites. jus epic. nothin finer than livin afar wit a source to de city!
If you want to enjoy the music, and havent made a reservation in advance, you should arrive early. The place is very narrow - kind of like a rail road house - so for instance tonight me and my friend were entirely unable to see the musicians so we only heard the music through a speaker. It was not at all a concert experience. I feel it is a bit unjustified to charge a cover for the guests that are unable to see the music and many left for this reason. Otherwise a great ambiance in the place.
A very good jazz club. Enjoyed it immensely
Mezzrow’s jazz club in the heart of Greenwich Village is the place for music lovers to relax listening to their favorite artists perform in an intimate setting. You can enjoy the West Village atmosphere in this outstanding club owned by the legendary Smalls Jazz Club. Listen to my brother, a renowned jazz musician play the grand piano performing his original songs while relaxing to the music of his compatriots. Fabulous venue with superlative wine list, Mezzrow’s is a great Jazz venue to listen to the best musicians while meeting other music lovers in New York City. Definitely recommended as the cool place for music lovers.
Gets crowded and make sure you reserve in advance. Being at the bar is the worse sport to listen to the music and people get antsy. Service is ok. Music is good. Place is cozy but dirty and old. No effort is evident to clean or make update decor. And $20 gets you in but doesn’t not include it you want to sit down which costs $5.
Manager took care of us when there were no shows for the non bar seating. Purchased admittance to bar but was way crowded. He seated us (at no additional charge) closer to the musicians in some of the no-show seats that otherwise would have gone unused. Great hospitality, service, and consideration!
This is a fantastic little spot and the bar staff are very friendly. The music is great as is the sound. Its small and narrow and carries throughout the venue. Youll definitely want to book though. Whilst walk ins are encouraged, youll likely spend $20 to sit right at the back of the venue with (often) little or no view of the band. Reservations get seated near the front, so do that!
Cool spot. Kind of got pushed up against the wall, because there was limited seating. Music was great. Drinks were nice enough
The Mezzrow jazz club is a much more intimate atmosphere than its sister club Smalls. I arrived in the middle of a set, so I sat in the entrance hall rather than the main room. However, even though I was sitting at a table near the door, I felt more relaxed and not crammed into one space. The sound of the music, the jazzy bass and vocals, were heard clearly and enjoyed. Drinks ranges $5-$20, cover charge is $20 unless you already paid at smalls and have your ticket to get in. Its $25 cover charge to sit in the main area.
Great place to listen to jazz
LITTLE SPACE, GIGANTIC ENTERTAINMENT. BEST
I had such a wonderful time. The musicians were excellent the staff was great. Without a doubt, my friends and I will be back.
Wow! What a great place. Beautiful cozy little jazz club. With talented performers! Waiters very attentive and a well-made cocktail. Would highly recommend. I will certainly be returning!
Great little basement Jazz club. Super talented musicians, but tiny space. Gets crowded fast. Get a reservation up front if you can.
Romantic little basement club that moves on its own orbit. Sure you have to shimmy for seats but it’s part of the charm.... Strong drinks too.
Fun place to hear great piano jazz. Small, reservations highly recommended for Friday/Saturday at least
Small intimate jazz club, with the feel of a speakeasy. Drinks are great, performers are always superb.
This was a great place to see a show...Sunday late. Real friendly staff...music was the best!
A must visit place for true jazz lovers.
Excellent and very high level of musicians and music.Good vibe and atmosphere.
Small place. Intimate. One of the best sounding jazz venues in NYC!
One of the best jazz clubs in NYC
Dimly lit place, but its the perfect environment to just sit back and listen to some really relaxing music. Drinks are a little on the expensive side, but the tickets for the shows seem to be modestly priced. Even the entrance to the club is underground, so it also feels like a hidden gem, a well kept secret. Definitely worth the price of admission though.
Loved the space very cool and beautiful...
Great spot to take a date. It is small but it is worth going to.
A fantastic small and cozy listening room. Just perfect actually!
Good music, tasty beer, extremely crowded and slow service.
What a nice place for spending the Friday evening with friends. I ordered Blood on the Moon and my friend had the Monster and the Flower. We really liked the drinks. They were tasty and beautifully presented. The servise was prompt and friendly despite the busy hour. The music was awasome. Live Jazz music is our favorite. There were amazing drawings and mirros all over the walls. The dark red laced sofa was very stylish and comfortable.
A great and classic Village venue. Its tight quarters, but part of the charm. Make reservations if you want a table. And if youre there for the music, you want a table as they sit closest to the musicians.
Great jazz club, maybe the best in the area; we go there every time we can; great music, great location; make a reservation in advance if you really want to enjoy the show and the evening.
Place was very crowded (Saturday night) oh Im sure its much better on other days when its not so crowded but overall I had a good time
Good place to enjoy jazz. Bar service is weak side of this club.
Cozy, great service, amazing artists. Plus its so intimate being so close to the band. Such a unique experience. I hate leaving at the end of the night.
Great spot for Jazz! We made a reservation and had great seating the performers put on a spectacular show that filled the room with great energy and staff was on point for drinks and food even while performance was going on.Also I had a wonderful email experience over a slight issue with S.W.Great spot for the holidays.
The real deal. Great music, great service.
One of the best sounding rooms. Pasquale Grasso on Monday nights is an absolute treat. Many other fantastic shows here. Make sure you sit in front
Great venue for music lovers
Music/vibe was great but FOH ignored us two at the seating sign for 15mins then served 5 other people that came in after us. We informed her and bounced.
Small jazz club, loved the atmosphere and the music. The menu and almost everything looks like Smalls Jazz club... same owners maybe? I dont know
Great music in an intimate setting. Delicious cheese platter, spiced nuts and cocktails. The Cosmo was one of the best Ive had in awhile all for VERY reasonable prices. Cant wait to go back.
Mezzrow is the sister club of Smalls Jazz Club, across 7th Ave. It has its own persona as regards the music and atmosphere that is both cozy and intimate. The music usually consists of duos and trios featuring pianists and vocalists in drummerless combinations. The acoustics are excellent and the experience is always top notch in this anachronism that can only exist in a city like NYC.
Wonderful club. Cozy abd chilly, full of great music abd nice staff. If you crave top jazz musicians, thats the place you wanna be. Tickests for performances can also be usef for the partner jazz club, the smalls, just down the street. Both thumbs up.
Ehud Asherie, pianist with his bass player Paul Sikivie + his drummer Jason Brown are excellent entertainment.
Great fun, terrific jazz, host and staff were extremely gracious, everyone felt most welcome. Cant wait to go back.
Excellent listening room in the Village with the best in small ensemble jazz. Sister club, Smalls Jazz, is iconic, and Mezzrow has joined the ranks, keeping jazz alive and flourishing!
I really dig this place. They are going for the old jazz bar vibe and they hit the nail on the head. Great music really a great time overall. It was busy so we got cramed into a corner. But that is what happened when a place is that good.
