Went to a Lincoln Project event prior to lockdown, on the anniversary of Lincolns speech at Cooper Union. Unfortunately, it wasnt designed with modern sightlines in mind. The undoubtedly load-bearing columns make it hard to see from any but the center section. Still, its a good venue of historical significance. I recommend visiting Cooper Union.

The legendary Great Hall of Cooper Union turned out to be a Great Disappointment. The cramped and narrow seats made me yearn for the comfort and leg room afforded by the middle seat in coach on a discount airline. And the sightlines, I hardly know what to say. Them pillars, man, wut? Its a beautiful building in many respects, so I have to assume the pillars were actually DESIGNED to obstruct ones view of the stage, for a purpose I cant fathom.Im not going to go full-on troll and give the place one star, because its clean and immaculately maintained and the acoustics are honestly quite good. But Mark Twain is said to have lectured here, and Im going to find out if he ever made any pithy remarks about the audience experience.

The Great Hall holds the echoes of many famous speakers but its elaborate columns do not make for good sight lines.

I went there for an event hosted by The Strand. Everything was smoothly run, but I have to say that the pillars in the room are a real obstacle. You have to sort of hunt around the room and test different seats to see if you have a proper view of the stage. Not ideal.

Ive only been here once (Randall Munroe talk) so I cant speak to the number and type of events held here, but while I thoroughly enjoyed the event I came here to see, there are a large percentage of seats that have terrible sightlights to the stage due to the size and placement of the support columns. Almost all of the aisle seats have obstructed views, and the seats on the far left and right have sharp angles to the stage. Youll want to get here early for a good seat. Id have given a good 4+ star rating if not for the obstructed sightlines.

A place of historic as well as educational importance to the working class of New York City. Take a stroll around Peter Cooper park and admire the architecture of the original Cooper Union building. Then find a lecture to go to in the Great Hall downstairs and enrich your life.

The hall is huge and had great acoustics. The site lines for meet of the seats is not good though. This is especially true if you are a short person. The seats are wooden and fairly comfortable. As someone who loves history, being in the hall is awe inspiring. The main speaker at the event I attended used the same podium that Lincoln did when he woke there.

The Great Hall at Cooper Union located on East 8th Street, between 3rd Avenue and Cooper Square is an educational institution with a rich history. The Great Hall at Cooper Union also houses the Cooper Union Library.Aside from political venues, they do still provide educational awareness about public safety and whatnots.Sometimes the New York City Rent Guidelines Board (NYCRGB) holds its meeting here.

The hall is a very impressive and historic place, which is great. But the columns in the middle really can obstruct a persons view, making it a less than desirable place from a pure enjoyment perspective. Still, overall the acoustics and everything are pretty good.

Came here for an event with Sen. Al Franken & Seth Meyers. Ive been to many venues around the city for interview/lecture type events and this was by far the absolute worst. So much so itll make me disinclined to come see a speaker I want see if it were here. Its not their fault-- its a small space with about a dozen columns blocking the view. If youre lucky enough to land a seat, youre likely gonna get a crick in your neck form leaning. If youre like me, and didnt get the memo that this venue sells MORE TICKETS THEN THEY HAVE SEATS and about 50 people got to stand. Bathrooms are small, few stalls, so long lines. The reason it gets two stars, not one? President Lincoln spoke here. Which is very, very cool. For about 5 minutes. I dont blame anyone for the bad space-- no ones fault. Just dont book your events here and think twice about attending something here!
