Would you, could you, in a gallery?!? YES, YOU CAN!!! What a wonderful space, filled with the spirit of the good Dr. Seuss, and showcasing his art - the space is small but impeccably maintained and decorated, and has a large variety of pieces that show the art in a bright. colorful, wonderful, and relaxed environment. Major bonus - the manager - Miss Laura - an absolute delight, a wealth of information, a gentle nature, and displays absolute professionalism. I went in to browse, and the overall experience convinced me that I wanted to buy. This art is released in limited editions, changes constantly, and tends to go up in value - a lot!!! Thank you Striped Hat! You do the good doctor proud!!
In the spirit of Dr Seuss, I will start my review with a poem:If you want a store thats good, treat your clients like you should. And if you want to grow more rich, get off your butt, dont be a... ... ummm... lets go with grumpy lady.I was BEYOND excited when I saw the store as I am totally redecorating TWO bedrooms - one for my 5 year old daughter and one for my 3 year old son.I went through the door and was literally scowled at by a woman sitting behind the desk. I expressed that I was excited that this store existed and that I had just found the idea for my kids rooms. Now these are high ticket items and I am fortunate that money isnt really an issue, so I started looking around. The woman literally glared at me (not stared, but literally glared at me) the whole time. I asked if I could take a picture of the store to show my wife back home in MN and she got even weirder and at first said as long as I am not in it and then as I got ready to take it she said you know I dont feel comfortable with you having a camera.Ok, WTF?!? Seriously? WTF?!?All this entire time, she never got up from behind the little desk that she was sitting at.Now (not feeling wanted there at all) I felt uncomfortable and left.I will never go back to this store.Side note, you can get ALL of this stuff in the store online (I later found out after a search), but I was about to spend literally thousands and thousands there because I was there, I was excited and I had the means to do so.Needless to say, this is somewhere and someone who tarnishes the memory of Dr Seuss.
If I can ever get to visit, Ill change my review! I was greatly looking forward to seeing this place only to be severely disappointed to see it was closed at 4 pm, an hour earlier than the posted hours of operation, with no explanation posted on the door... Ill try again on the next visit.
Fun spot in the Big Easy for a quick drink or to enjoy some local conversation and craic! Cheers and enjoy!
