Great Family experience and great memories for my kids..with all thats going on with pandemic...they handle everything so organized and smooth
Renovated and ready to go! Absolutely beautiful, educational and fun. The kids loved the musical area, and smartly enough, even though many played different chimes it all sounded cohesive. This was my first visit and hopefully not the last. The Carousel is gorgeous and the train is adorable and fun.
I think parts of it are charming and fun. Other parts are a little run down. It is overpriced for what you get. 4 dollars a ride is pretty steep and if you only plan on staying an hour or so 22 dollars isnt worth it. The water fountains didnt work on a hot day, and everything just seemed in need of repair or freshened up. The workers are slightly over it, no smiles, not really that friendly. My kids liked it well enough so I guess it is reaching their audience...but they didnt have to pay for it. :)
Cute little amusement park, the carousel is absolutely beautiful. You can tell why its been in a couple movies! The train is fun and actually a decently long ride, Ive always loved how they decorate the tracks for Halloween or Christmas. Overall the amusement park is pretty fun, probably more for kids between 4-8 as there is really only 1 actual roller coaster although it is pretty good. Like most of New Orleans, I dont find the attractions very clean, the rides themselves are pretty dirty which does make me question how well they are maintained or even inspected for safety.
I love to take my kids here for Christmas in the oaks. They have a beautiful botanical garden. The rides are meh. They are either for toddlers or adults. I find the tickets to ride are expensive. And if u buy a bracelet for unlimited rides, you still have to pay extra for the train around the park. My favorite part is StoryLand where kids can see and climb on different structures from the fairy tales. I remember some pieces were interactive when I was little that just have locks on them now but we still love it.
Very nice park to take your kids and play. I love that they still have some of the old parts of the carousel. I had fun looking at the lights at celebration in the oaks. They also had so many beautiful art delays to look at. I havent visited the Japanese garden yet but I cant wait to visit to go and see it!
This is a must-see if you visit New Orleans if you have children, love amusement park rides and old nursery rhymes. My only complaint is that if youre just taking a small child to walk around the the area for children, adults have to pay adult rates. Its not like the adults are there to slide down the kiddie slides... but we still love it there. The Christmas lights there are beautiful!
First time visiting as I post my review. In taking my nephews, ages 11 and 13, I said that I would not get on any rides as I felt that they were catered to their ages and younger. Although that is the case, they pleaded with me to get on about three or four of them, so I did. The rides were still super fun even at my age. I loved how much fun the two of them had, plus me.I did the history tour as well which was a great way to learn fast fun facts regarding the becoming of City Park. The music was not so appealing though. We ended the evening at City Putt which is always a fun time for all ages! Carousel Gardens is a must visit in New Orleans.
Its such a typical New Orleans childhood experience! Bright colorful well kept displays of beloved story book characters. There are plenty of things to play on...climb on...and marvel at. Recently more features have been added. Even in summer the great oaks provide cooling shade. Favorites here were the dragon slide...the steep slide on the Jack and Jill hill and the whales mouth. Go make some Nawlins memories of fun filled afternoons at beautiful city park!
This place is so much fun and much cheaper than a fair with all the same rides and the coaster is awesome! The carousel itself is one of the oldest in the country and survived Katrina!
My great granddaughter & her friends had an awesome time. Even the adults had a good time. The staff were like none else. Very helpful and above all, very respectful. Great place to bring the children.
This is the perfect place for kids under 10! Very family friendly.
Cool park, hard to find good walking path.
The rides are really fun! I got to do things I havent done in years!! Its well worth the visit! Also, make sure to ride the Music Express....I wont spoil it but just do it
It’s fun for most all ages, they have clean bathrooms, good food, and it’s never packed. Just wish there were more rides.
It was beautiful. The park was fun and full of people. There were lights to see everywhere. Very nice experience.
Attractions are good, short rides. Parking is tough during holidays, but parking is free. Its a city park, but plan to spend money like you are at a theme park.
Nice family oriented place to visit. You will experience the detail out into the park. Well done.
Very enjoyable! The kids were loving it! I rode the train and it was nice.
Fun little place. Would be better if they had more thrilling rides for adults. Like the zipper, or spider!
Really had a blast on my visit there. I attended a childs party and the day brought back my childhood. I just loved being there.
We visited as part of an event. Our little one loved all the kiddie rides. Staff was friendly and considerate of our son who uses a wheelchair.
Very neat place for kids. Came here expecting some kiddie rides and found a small amusement park. Pretty cool and fast roller coaster, fun house, tilt a whirl, Ferris wheel, carousel, train, and lots of kiddie rides. The train is a 10 minute ride around the park. We bought the unlimited arm bands for $22 and very well got our monies worth!! There is a lot of other stuff we didnt get to. 2 hours here put our 1 1/2 yr old out and almost got our 3 yr old!! Maybe a little ride will finish him off!!
Ghost in the Oaks cant be beat. Great for all ages. Beautifully done. My 3rd year going. Loved the event
Awesome place to have a small party for a child.
Absolutely love this carousel! Its so pretty. I remember growing up and visiting it every year. Glad to see they kept the old style and it is still in good working order. Relaxing and enjoyable for the whole family of all ages.
Such a beautiful place with lots of things to do for little ones and big ones too. The decorations will leave anyone breathless.
Always a good time! Beautiful grounds and fun rides that r well maintained.
This amusement park is magical in the middle of the New Orleans City Park. It has beautiful scenery and rides.
Like a fair that never leaves! Great for some 1 day fun, if you have some time to kill and need a little thrill!
We enjoyed ourselves with the kids my fiance last place before he passed it was a beautiful setting at night Christmas time
My family and I absolutely love this amusement park in the summer! Its fun and beautifully landscaped with plenty of shade. We bought snowcones from the food truck and thought they were the best we had ever tasted.Everything was impressive. I only give 4 instead of 5 stars because all the ride employees seemed so depressed. I understand they were probably very hot and uncomfortable and that bothered me. Maybe they should be allowed more breaks or something.
A fun place to bring family and friends to bond with
Its part of my childhood...love the renovations...City Park is one of my most favorite places in the world...
City Parks Carousel Garden and StoryLand well worth it for kids and a New Orleans tradition, carousel itself one of the oldest wooden painted animals totally redone PostK because its so old so loved, amusement park have small or big kid rides and an eating area but nice view ferrin ferris wheel especially at night, bumper cars, train and fun house, giant slides Then Storyland next to it has fairy tales stories with play area to act out each tale, season pass spring thru November its worth it
Cant wait till my son is old enough to go and play in here
Loved City park and all the lights.
I went here for celebration on the oaks. It was nice, unfortunately it seems like every year that passes by it is not as grand and magical.
I absolutely love this place as well as my daughter. We always have a good time there although the staff could be a little bit more attentive but I dont have any real complaints. Really fun place!
I have been coming to this park since I was a little girl, now I have had the pleasure to bring and enjoy it with both my daughters. It never gets old.
My son says 5 stars but I say 3 stars. Entry $4 and wrist band $22. Pizza $5 and drink a $3.50 were ridiculous! Kiddie rides. Should be $10-$15 for all day. Well go again because we didnt have time to do all in 3 hours. They dont offer student or military discounts. They should.
Went here for Christmas in the Oaks. It’s not bad! If you have kids who are eager for rides, then definitely get the $18 wristband for them. It’s a really good deal. The food options here aren’t very good however, but it’s still worth a visit.
We had a great day with some minor hiccups with getting on a particular ride but the manager was EXTREMELY courteous and helpful and we will definitely be back. The rides were simple but cute and great for kids our kids age (7-8) but also great for kiddos smaller than that as they have a lot of really cute toddler rides. The Storybook Playground was a great bonus and our kids loved climbing all over it! This is a must do in New Orleans with kids especially!
Great place tovgocevery year awesome
Alot of fun. Go every year for Celebration in the Oaks
Went to a fund raising event a few weeks ago and walked directly into my Chicago childhood in New Orleans. What a fabulous, historical, yet contemporary facility. Being there under the lights kept a perpetual smile on my face. These rides are incredibly age appropriate for any kids at least 1st grade through 5th. Adults can still enjoy too. Located in City Park, a city jewel, Carousel Gardens is a must visit for the young at heart and those wishing to take a trip back to the day of bumper cars.
Great environment to take your kids to. New Orleans does a great job with City Park.
One of the many inexpensive amusements in New Orleans. I highly recommend all of city park activities.
Perfect day for the family. Nice whether and it wasnt packed. We had so much fun we rode a lot of rides more than once. A perfect Sunday.
Always a magical place to visit anytime of the year!!!
Great in the spring and early fall. So many great rides and little restaurants. Its hard not to have a good time. A day out, a field trip for kids, or a teen hangout. Also there are a lot of poke-stops for anyone who still plays.
Fun place for adults and kids. Lots of things to do. And lots of fun!
Fun place. Little bit old, but not very bad.
I understand you encounter many kids per day, but its still your job to be kind. I have an autistic son, and the ride was a bit wild. He couldnt sit up straight on the ride. The young lady stopped the ride, came over to us and looked at my son and said if he didnt sit up shed put him off. I understand rules, but she wasnt pleasant. I explained that he was autistic. It r ruined the entire visit!! He said he didnt want to stay because the people were rude!!
During the summer, this is packed with kids and their parents hoping to expend some energy. Rides, food, all kinds of fun. During Christmas, they have the lights, decorations, all thing Hannukah and Christmas. A train ride thru the park with the large decorations. A delight for children and adults alike.
We did not go to the story land area, but my kids (aged 15, 12, 7, 1) were each able to ride on something! The bumper cars were a plus! We did not get on the carousel, but everyone enjoyed the rides we had time to get on.
My son had So much fun! And it brought back a lot of childhood memories for me!
Awesome place. Definitely worth the trip.
Outstanding! 2 parks in one. We took fun pictures and the outdoor Art park is the true bonus.
The amusement park is a great place for kids, it started raining right after we got there and the staff was wonderful, they walked us around under an umbrella and gave us rain checks for a later date, my little girl was crying and they did everything to talk to her and explain, the best part is the rain checks never expire, this is a nice place for the smaller children to have a great time
Its a great experience and fun for kids, teenagers, and adults.
Bought a membership because my kids love it so much. Well worth it
Have a splendid experience as you scream with joy!
Old. Nothing but old rides. The best part is the story time play area. Cost 4 bucks a person just to get in.
I felt like an child at heart in an adults body
Perfect for smaller kids as it has rides for everyone. Ladybug rollercoaster is quite fun for such a small park. Could have some better food options however.
My grandsons favorite spot when we visit Louisiana..Great entertainment for children
Its not Disney World, but for $20, its a solid day, especially if you go with a big group of friends. If its not too busy, you can ride some rides over and over again, and if youre more in the mood to talk for a bit, the train and carousel are good options. I definitely wouldnt go and buy tickets individually, but you only need to ride 6 rides to break even, so even a couple hours makes the day pass more than worth it.
Lots to see and great for granddaughter do the train ride
A great little place to bring the kids and affordable!
LOVE. will go back when its not so hot.
Fun small amusement park especially with kids .
Its was crazy crowded, but it has some cool features but not worth the money or time.
City Park is beautiful and fun. Story land is great for the little ones and opens into the amusement park where little and big kids will.havr some.fun. bring your own food though as food options are limited to pizza burgers and nachos. No lines when we went Ina Sunday late morning. There is also a playground nearby.
Park is beautiful has a very nice setting. Food, drink and water prices are beyond ridiculous. The rides are old and are need of maintenance. Addmission for a unlimited wristband is reasonable. Staff appear to be going through the motions.
Celebration in the oaks is awesome family fun a must see
Perfect hands on experience for toddler children.
It’s a nice little amusement park to bring the kids for a little fun.. our favorite one and only is the lady bug ride- my daughter will ride over and over againIt’s fun with a little thrilling to it- just a kid friendly one nothing big or too scary!! Make sure to get in the train ride after a long hot day to wind down and enjoy the trees and view of the park!! Staff is usually friendly and helpful!! Just wished that admission price was included when you buy ride tickets or wristband and not have to pay for it xtra!!
Well organized for Celebration in the Oaks and so fun!
This is a must visit for NOLA! I love this place. I’m so glad I get to enjoy this each year. It’s especially awesome during the fall and winter.
Super fun!!! Especially for my 4yr old niece!
We attended an even here and the kids had such a great time!
Have been to several different events based on beer and rides. Every single one of them has been a blast and look forward to going to more in the future.
Was more fun than I expected
Great place for children to play and use their imagination!
Beautiful park and events that take place there
It was great for the first 3 rides. It was the Friends of City Park Festival. Then, the rain came. There was no food unless you paid for it. The food was to be included in the festival. Dont know what they did with it, but our grandchildren were disappointed and so was I. They did enjoy the first 3 rides though. It was forecast to rain and I feel like they should have rescheduled it for the next day or even the day after that. Would have been enjoyed by everyone else as well, I suspect.
Beautiful park. Rides are mostly for kids 12 and under. Beautiful trees all over the park. Bike rentals are awesome aswell.
New park improvements are great .It was finally done.
