Soldiers and Sailors Monument

Small trail & lovely scenes at the top. Beautiful sunset. I am pretty sure an afternoon here would be amazing as well. Does have some benches to sit and enjoy the view of the whole city from top.

THIS IS A NICE PLACE TO BE WITH THE FAMILY YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN FOOD YOU CANNOT DO PICNICS AND IF YOU PARK THE CAR MAYBE YOU HAVE TO WORK LIKE 30 MINUTES FROM YOUR CAR TO THE TOWER SO BE PREPARED TO WALK 30 MINUTES

Last place to be with the family you can bring your own food and prepare to walk like 30 minutes but this is beautiful here

The road driving up to the monument is closed, but the parking lot at the base of the hill is still open. It’s about a mile walk up, very pleasant under the tree cover. Good stroll up, with picnic tables and grills on the top.

I love hiking East Rock Park. Very scenic and relaxing.

If you want to visit a touristic place in Connecticut this place is just for you. This memorial is located in New Haven. Because it is located on East Rock, it is visible for miles from the surrounding areas. This monument was completed in 1887. So if you want to live the history you should visit this place. Do not forget to get your coats if you are going there during winter time because it is really windy and cold.

Finally had a chance to visit East Rock Park on a nice clear sunny day!! Spectacular view. Historical point.

You can drive up or hike up to the monuments. Enjoy the picnic area and great views of the city of New Haven and its harbor in Long Islsnd Sound to the south and catch a glimpse of Sleeping Giant State Park to the north.

Was driving through new haven a saw this place so we looked it up on our phones and found it. well i was surprised yo see people walking, jogging, biking up and down this road. i dont blame them. the monument was great TO SEE AND YOU ALSO HAD A GREAT VIEW

The view is spectacular and even more so during fall where the landscape would cover with foliage.

Great for site seeing, picnics, bbq family time and just a relaxed drive/walk around the park. The views of New Haven are breathtaking, however the park does need to be maintained a little more. While in New Haven this location is a must I think.

The view of New Haven would be much better if someone cut the brush which covers the view.

This place is so peaceful and relaxing. The view is beautiful and even though youre inside a city, it feels as if youre not. If you want a quick break from the busy city lifestyle, I recommend going here for a bit!

Just looking up at this wonderful piece of New Haven and Connecticut history, you ask yourself, How Long did it take. Its 366 feet above New Haven. If you can, do make the trip to the summit.

Nice monument and great overlook where you can see all of New Haven, the Sound, and Long Island beyond.

Most beautiful view of the city!

Absolutely fantastic view of New Haven and is very accessible by car or hiking. Only downside is its closed to vehicles for sunrise and sunset.

Need to go there at least once and have a picnic up there

A fantastic war monument that is dedicated to soldiers and sailors from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War. There is stunning detail once you get close to it.Unfortunately its gated off to the general public, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.The views around the monument are simply breathtaking. Most of New Haven can be seen from atop of East Rock Park.
