Hulls Art Supply & Framing

I brought in a shirt and a print for a quote and a framing, respectively. Elizabeth was extremely helpful, professional, and informative. I was in and out in under 30 minutes with a beautiful frame for my print and a reasonable price for my shirt. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I am framing my 1996 Alvin Ailey poster. So many gorgeous memories will be beautifully displayed. Theres only one person working in framing and she does the framing. She took her time helping me find the right style. Itll be a while but itll be worth the wait. Be patient with their layout and attempts to follow guidelines.

My kid loves going here for her art supplies

I love it when workers know what theyre doing/ talking about. Its a great store, easy to get to for you artist-needs. Great selection of paper

Shame on the owners for being open during the pandemic. absolutely irresponsible to the community, customers and the employees. we will not be supporting Hulls any longer.

Love going in even if it is just to look around. They always have what Im looking for.

Ive been dealing with them for years! If they dont have something theyll get it! Fair prices and great service!

Very bad attitude except ONE of the guys ... really expensive and dont have as much as the other art stores around ! Only good things is SOMETIMES Thee have posters outside for sale other than that would not recommend

Always happy with their service and products. Lots of quality choices. I went there to get two custom mats.

Amazing small art shop, with lots and lots of stuff to be creative. Owners are very kind and help you any questions.

Superb!!!Thanks, Mr. Johnson and your colleagues for your great taste and execution for a recent framing job!

Its the place to go if you need art supplies in New Haven! The service there has always been impeccable!

Great staff, terrific selection of art goods. We buy everything here.

Great supplies for painters, sculptors, architects, designers and printers (print making). And great a source for papers. We highly recommend Hulls.

Love Hulls. The staff are seriously wonderful! I always feel very welcome here (and that is no small thing). Great place to buy a gift.

Great store. Lots of materials here. Easily accessible and noticeable from street view. They have all sorts of art supplies and painting supplies here.

Wonderful, personal service, as it always has been. I went recently with a very sensitive and tricky commission for a custom frame, and I couldnt have been happier with the service - their ideas for making it work were great, and the result was stunning. When I went to pick it up one of the other members of staff had already seen it and mentioned how nice it looked - made me very happy. Long live Hulls.

The place is great for art supplies. I wish I was more of an artist to appreciate it

They have an ok selection of art supplies, costs are stupid high as they overcharge for absolutely everything. There are no deals to be had in this store compared to other art supply locations. I guess this is what you can expect when a store has no competition and makes money from Yale University Art students with financial assistance and no cares about price leaving locals no options... Gentrification at its finest. No selection of modeling supplies except wooden statues or clay. They price stuff like they have a great selection but you are left with one stupidly high priced item or the higher than MoST other places item. Example, clay $50 bought online for $10 exact same company... Bags of miniature 3d printed people for building models and mini trees made of sponge $25-50 for 4-10 items less than an inch tall. The costs of paints forget it You artists are either gullible or just stupid... I dont understand how they are still open 5 colors the cheapest brush and a pallet $115 just crazy!!!

For decades Yale students have been coming here for art and architecture supplies. Hull’s is also the place to go for all your framing needs, whether you want to buy a ready made frame or work with the staff to create a custom mat and frame for your art or document. Also a great place to buy a gift or special greeting card. Large selection of art and model-making supplies, including special papers and boards. Friendly, helpful staff. Quick service. Frequent sales and special offers.

I brought in some magazine pages to be framed and the service was fantastic. The gentleman who helped me was knowledgeable and quick to make suggestions that matched my vision.

I am absolutely blown away by the framing done here. My advice is stand back and let them work, theyll elevate even the simplest item to a true work of art or heirloom.

A wide array of supplies across different mediums, with a very knowledgeable staff. If you have a question, someone there will know the answer. Great gift options as well, wonderful card selection, and seasonal items. They have kites!

A small art supply shop with a frame shop. Prices are standard (art supplies are expensive everywhere), the help is attentive and helpful. The frame shop is expensive and you have to be specific in your requests. They do have museum quality mats if you require them .

A little pricey, but the service is great!

Out of towner, but stopped by Hulls while staying in CT on a whim. Absolutely LOVED this store! Wonderful selection of supplies, and a friendly helpful staff. So wish we had on in PA!

I pop in here at LEAST once a week, and got a lot of good to say about Hulls. 1st, they dont bother me about shopping with my (well behaved and QUIET) small dog. 2nd, they dont give me a hard time about my backpack, 3rd, they ALWAYS ask if I need help, but they arent up my behind. Also, staff seem to know where stuff is and how to use it, and the owners really nice. Most important: the prices are quite decent, surprisingly seeing as this is a small store. Really the best prices locally for art stuff, not much more than shopping online, plus you get to hold, touch, and see the product! Best art store in New Haven, right here in downtown.

Perfect if interested in art supplies! The employees are super helpful aswell!

I always find everything I need in this place ️

Hulls has everything! It looks tiny from the outside, but it is endless in its supply of every possible kind of art supply. Ive bought everything from 0.3 mechanical pencils to porfolios and easels there. They even custom cut a board for me once. The staff is super helpful, and I always find myself wanting to hang out in the store for longer than I need to!

Has a little of everything you could use ask for in art supplies, from higher end artist quality to kids crafts.

These people are great. It is a small store, but they have a wide variety of supplies including more obscure tools and supplies in the back. The staff is very friendly and helpful when you have questions. Even if you are DIY, they will give advice to help you. Their prices are higher than the mega art stores, but they have a great range of supplies, framing needs, sculpture/architecture tools and supplies, drawing materials, and all things painting. thumbs up.

Everyone is very helpful there

I rarely shop here because the prices are so grossly jacked up. Its even less worth going if youre a student with that small discount that only covers state taxes. Used to shop here when I had no idea there were other art stores.Being open in a pandemic when art supplies are the last things on peoples minds is not cool either.

Adorable store and tons of supplies!

Really helpful staff. If you need art supplies, this is the place to go.

Had my diploma framed here and could not be happier. The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. Cost was about what I expected for custom framing, and when youve already dropped an exorbitant amount of money on your education, why cheap out on framing/showcasing your diploma? Go to Hulls. You wont be disappointed!

Far more expensive than Artist and Craftsman down the street, but there is a wider variety of high quality supplies for any artists trade.

Impeccable service with a smile.

I love this place

Hulls has helpful staff and a convenient location on Chapel Street.

I love this place.

Skilled and friendly service, this shop will do what it takes to get you a product you love. Cant thank them enough for the effort they put in to make it work for you, when you need it, how you need it!

Love the art selection

Something for everyone

Friendly knowledgeable people on staff. I am a Hulls groupie...

Great place! Not as cheap as online retailers, but worth the extra help!

Huuuuge collection of supplies for all kind of artists

Full array of art supplies for everyone!

Friendly and helpful staff

Pricey

Really helpful friendly staff!
