The Das Rec facility is beautiful, spacious, and clean. The equipment is great and kept in good shape and clean The people who staff it are friendly and helpful. My trainer, Kari, has been wonderful! What more can I say?

What a great place! Its huge and had something for everyone. The childcare is super friendly, there are classes you can join in for free, basketball courts, machines and free weights, and the pool is excellent for families or for working out (there are two separate pools!!) Were so excited to have this open and available in NB! In the future Id love to see a area for bouldering /rock climbing and a room for nursing moms, but it still gets 5 stars!

I love Das Rec. The water exercises and pool therapy of helped me recover % after a knee sprain.I enjoy the group classes, the cleanliness and the wide range of exercise equipment. Thanks for all you do!

I just relocated to New Braunfels and discovered Das Rec across the street from my loft. The staff was beyond welcoming - offering me a tour of the facility and showcasing the amenities available to its members. I was hesitant to join a rec club during a pandemic, but Das Rec has demonstrated attention to virus protection at every corner! The clientele adheres to the policies and I am beyond excited to crank up my fitness routine in a friendly, sanitized & modern environment!

Good family place for staying healthy and out if the heat. Need a membership, but if you use it often you will get your money worth. They have attack, basketball courts, full gym, circuit training equipment, swim lanes, family swimming pool with small lazy river, kid spash pad next to larger pool, movie night at the pool, lockers, showers, nice restrooms, indoor water slide, and so much more. They also provide an in house child care facility for busy parents. Check it out and decide for yourself.

Swim here 4-5 days a week. GREAT pool! But you should probably stay away. I want to keep it for myself. Actually, well planned & managed facility! I drive 50-60 miles RT everytime to use it.

We have a membership, and we love going. Staff seems bored and uninterested in there performance, or the interest in the members, every single time we go. Gym is great, wide and open. Sometimes to overcrowded. Shower situation could of been planned out better, four showers only ( females ).

They are doing great things at this facility to keep us safe and in shape. Thank you to the entire staff from this old Vet and my entire family. You are definetly appreciated.

Without a doubt the most poorly run gym I’ve ever been to. Staff could care less about customer service, don’t know their own gym schedules, and have inconsistent policies with covid and allow large groups without masks (30+ people) during pickle ball and volleyball, the majority of participants being older adults to senior citizens, the biggest group at risk as well as spreaders. And may I say again, terrible management with staff that does nothing. The basketball court hasn’t been mopped in months let alone waxed since the place has been built.

This place is wonderful !The staff couldnt be better. Everything is clean and in perfect working order.We love the swimming areas . The lifeguards are very professional, yet friendly.With all the Covid19 rules and regulations the staff is up beat and friendly.Im so thankful for this place to come and release stress, work out, and relax.Thank you Das Rec keep up the good work, we appreciate you.

Friendly staff, great companions to work out with, sparkling clean facilities, wonderful weight equipment, gifted instructors, lap pool and lazy river to walk in. We love yall! Thank you for being here for us during COVID. Das Rec is the best part of my day. There is such a great can do attitude that just permeates Dad Rec. Every day, yall are on my gratitude list.

Theyre just ok. The facility is big and clean but overall customer service is lacking. Every time I would ask a question the employees had no idea what the answer was. Maybe things have gotten better but it was a disappointment.

Member for 18 months. The only drawback is the free weight training area is small but funtional. Apart from that the facilities are great. Staff is great. During my times there, the patrons are considerate, friendly, and focused on fitness. Recent extra attention the staff has afforded to cleaning the facilities provides positive reassurances amid COVID-19 concerns. Overall great place.

Great facility with everything needed. Just wish they would put guidlines in place to re open showers, notging like leaving the gym and driving back sweaty or wreaking of pool water.

Convenient hours, great staff, and excellent variety of fitness options. I especially like the golf fitness option with Trevino Performance Training.

If you are worried about COVID 19, this may not be the place for you. Only the employees wear masks which I find interesting and there is little social distancing when you are using machines or weights.

Love the atmosphere - vibrant, friendly, fun! Staff are professional, knowledgeable, and nice! The facilities are outstanding and the group exercise class schedule rivals that of any big name fitness company. And the price is very competitive Love it here!

I love Das Rec! They have classes/activities for all ages, and it is a bright, clean facility that really has a good vibe. I appreciate having multiple classes, and class times, available to me. The upstairs track is a great way to get your walkrun in no matter what the weather! Membership fees are reasonable, new expanded parking is great!

Went to take my kiddo to the basketball clinic. Good warm ups. She is older so I kind of expected more but over all coach tried very hard and the final game was great. I wish we would have worked on offense in that game the whole time.... I wish I knew what that game was called.

We love everything about Das Rec and am grateful we have this wonderful place. The kids love the sports programs, we love the exercise equipment, and we ALL love the pools. I can NOT recommend Das Rec highly enough!

Great staff, large facilities, plenty of things to do

Our family has been a member since it opened. Our son works as a lifeguard there and is on the high school and USA swim team. The location and hours are perfect for us. I really like the variety of classes and how welcoming the instructors are. We can always find something to do when when we go. I highly recommend Das Rec.

Pricier than Planet Fitness, but well worth it for all the amenities like the kids pool with a slide that runs outside the building, another pool for doing laps, a full size basketball court with a jogging/walking ring above the court floor. It could use a few more workout machines, but it seems to fit with the number of customers they have. Overall I feel like its worth the price, especially since its minutes away from my house, so with a bit of self discipline its easier actually get my lazy butt to the gym and lose some elbows. They also have many other amenities that I havent yet tried, like tournaments and a wide selection of classes to attend if thats your thing

Love going here to work out. Its become so popular that the crowds can be hard to work through. We need 2 more in town already. Very affordable

Amazing gym owned by the City of New Braunfels. Basketball, indoor/outdoor running track, free weights, weight machines, a pool! My only complaint is that air flow in the men’s changing room is meh - need some super fans in there!

Das Rec has all the equipment and classes you may want. The equipment is clean, works properly and is state-of-the-art. My daughter loves the indoor water park and I love the lap pool. Childcare is included in membership and they do an excellent job with the children. I highly recommend Das Rec!!

I cannot say enough good things about Das Rec. The staff is amazing. The facility is perfect. Mostly, the people who work out along side me have been truly friendly. Its a great, family-feel!

Das Rec is a great family friendly multi purpose facility. It has group exercise classes, kid friendly pool with separate pool for adults, big open gym,indoor and outdoor walking tracks and many basketball courts.

I love the Das Rec facility. The group classes are welcoming and there is a good variety available. The indoor pool is a great place to take our grandchildren.

Clean equipment and facilities with convenient hours. Never too crowded even in busy times. Offers variety of fitness classes and activities that keep your workouts exciting. I’ve been a regular (5-7 times a week) member since Das Rec opened a year ago with no complaints. Very satisfied with the service.Edit: I am also excited about the new swim team that should be starting soon.

My first experience at DAS Rec was completely terrible. We came to play basketball but all the courts had practice except for one. The one without practice though had a group playing a game taking up the whole court leaving many without room to play. Normally the only reviews I leave are positive but Das Rec was that bad that it deserved my first negative review...

Das Rec is a great asset to the community. The lunchtime yoga classes are really well taught and perfect break in the middle of the day. There is a wonderful vibe to the light, airy, clean facilities. The layout in the locker room could be a little more efficient but I’m thankful to have a reasonably priced, convenient, rec facility right near downtown. Now if we could just get more trails.....

Theres an employee I see in the early hours during the week, blonde guy, no name tag. ALWAYS talking to members. I have NEVER seen him clean. What happened to the older Hispanic man? He was always cleaning. Im going to Golds, Ill pay more for quality employees. ZERO STARS

Great to get back to the pool after 3 months.

Not sure why a schedule is made but never followed... It gets updated but never told until day of but never updated on the open gym calendar so whats the point.Kids on the court not actually following the rules but some staff not following up on them to not do it. Food brought in and left for others to pick up.Its just sad to see such a nice facility that I try and keep clean but others in NB and some staff just not care.Managers are never there and short staffed all the time.

Just when I thought the congestion at Das Rec could not possibly get any worse, it did. This morning I arrived at 9:00 a.m. to find people circling the parking lot in their cars, trying desperately to find a spot. The parking gods smiled on me; like a vulture, I followed people exiting and was able to get in. Once inside Das Rec, I was met by an overwhelming mass of people, mostly children with parents, grandparents, et al., participating in the basketball competitions. Utter chaos. The yoga class was cancelled so a pop-up photography studio could take pictures. Three times during the spin class at 9:30, an announcement was made warning anyone who had parked at the retail center across the street would be towed. I ask you, where were people supposed to go? How do you think people living in the neighborhood are going to react when Das Rec members start parking in front of their homes?Why did you choose to hold these tournaments on the busiest day of the week? Could you think of nothing else? How about starting at noon? How about having them on Sunday? How about arranging for shuttle transportation?You have made your priorities quite clear about which members you will accommodate.DO SOMETHING to resolve the mess you have created.

Come hear often, I love the fact it has an indoor track so I dont have to run on a treadmill. Staff is friendly and willing to help as well.

I want to start off by saying I have nothing but praise for the staff at Das Rec who are not responsible for management decisions. The HZ has a story today about plans to very substantially limit access to the lap pool and I strongly object.The proposed new swim team takeover of the lap pool is outrageous. Already a substantial fraction of available pool time is reserved for our school teams, despite their having their own pools. It is not right for a public facility to collect fees from thousands of citizens and then reserve big chunks of the capacity for a favored few who don’t even pay extra for the privilege. A guarantee of one lane four hours a day while the new team owns the rest of the pool. That is an insult.Das Rec management seems to favor competitive sports and organized classes over free recreation and health maintenance solo exercise and sport which is what the overwhelming number of members pay for and how the bond issue was sold to us. It was not sold to the citizens as a facility for competitive teams and classes hogging the facility but rather as a facility for citizens of all ages and all skill levels. What you are doing is a dishonest bait and switch.The only other lap pool in town with any capacity was at the YMCA which was driven out of business by Das Rec using taxpayer funds. Das Rec justified that by presenting itself as an open facility like the YMCA, not one reserved to teams.

What a great facility!!!! The instructors and the classes are exceptional. New Braunfels is very blessed to have a facility of this nature.

I work with an adult special needs program who attends here twice a week. Every time we arrive, we are greeted by happy, smiling staff. The facilities here are great! The indoor pool has enough room for young and old to enjoy (laps, free swim, playground, walking resistance area and a large slide). The machine and free weight area is also fairly large. My favorite part if the gym however, is the walking track located above the basketball courts. This gives you a great view of the basketball courts and weight/machine area.

Very clean and spacious. It seems there is something for everyone there. Very inexpensive for the amount of activities it provides.

Its a beautiful facility but far too hot in the natatorium; especially during swim meets. I understand the humidity- but the absence of circulating air is a health hazzard.

You don’t have to be a member for swimming lessons! We were saddened to see the YMCA close as that was our go to place for winter swimming lessons but were very happy to learn that Das Rec offers Red Cross classes for $20 less than what the Y used to charge!

There are a lot of things I like about Das Rec, but there is still a lot that could be improved upon. I will start with the things I like:So affordableFamily atmosphere & family eventsBeautiful facilityIndoor TrackGreat Group Fitness ClassesNeeds Improvement:The staff never knows what is going on - from movie nights, race results, pool schedules, what master swim class is, the list goes on. Someone does a great job of marketing but the staff needs to know how to execute the activities. Upper level management needs to communicate better with the staff. I would suggest staff meetings or even a weekly group email or text.Towels should be provided, along with locks for the lockers.My biggest gripe of all would have to be the Kindercare. If the gym is open, Kindercare should be open (maybe hire a real adult instead of teenagers). Many times I have to cancel my workout for the day because childcare is not available when my schedule has availability. And possibly train the staff to interact with the children. It’s usually just a free-for-all in there. The kids are safe, but some activities or games to keep them engaged and entertained would be great!Overall Das Rec is a great facility, I was hoping that some of these “kinks” would be worked out by now (they have been open for a year) but it still seems like they are figuring it all out. Please understand that this review is not to criticize, but to highlight areas that need improvement.

The staff is very nice and helpful at every turn. The facility is the nicest I have ever joined.

The building is beautiful, however the workout area is way too small and you are constantly waiting for a machine to open up. The WiFi blocks many music/ entertainment apps from loading which puts a damper on treadmill time. My kids love the pool area and I do like the walking track. I just wish it had more of a user friendly workout area.

I bought a membership a few weeks ago and I’m loving it! The AC is kept cool so you don’t overheat and the equipment is amazing!The only thing I wish is that they’d stay open later than 8pm on weekends and 9:30pm on weekdays. Those are odd hours and I’m someone who likes working out later at night because it’s typically less busy at gyms. Hopefully in the future as they gain more business they’ll stay open for a later time.

Indoor pool, indoor track, basketball courts, treadmills, weights, and much more. They keep the place very clean which is nice. Great for families or someone just wanting to get a good workout. Wish they stayed open a little later for us working moms that can only go at night.

Unbelievable place. State of the art facility.

The place just opened up not too long ago and we decided to sign up. For the family package(2 adults, 2 kids), it was about $54 a month which is really good considering that they have in house day care too. The facility is very nice and looks great in there too! The staff has been very nice and we especially love the pool area. Overall, well worth the monthly price. Plus, if you ever needed to, there is no cancellation fee if you pay monthly.

It has everything you need to get in shape and / or get healthier.

My elderly Mom likes to walk there and enjoys the friendly atmosphere, while I take advantage of their swimming classes or other workout options.
