I took my grandkids here at end of summer and they really enjoyed it. There are several pools which allow people of all ages to enjoy swimming and playing. Covid-19 restrictions are in place which prohibit having a picnic in the grassy area just outside the pools. But they do permit reentry if you want to go outside. We didnt try the jogging track, basketball courts, or exercise equipment; but we saw others utilizing them. Everything appeared to be well-maintained. The lifeguards and other personnel were friendly and helpful.
We were so happy to hear that this place had a kiddie pool. The YMCAs was under construction which was heart breaking for a bunch of todslers (yes ai checked their website and it said nothing, however I should have called too) anyway I do wish the Rec Center had the water fountains and such like the Y but they do make up for it with all the floating balls for the kids to play with. Those balls were probably a bigger hit then the fountains at the Y, with 2 and 3 yesr olds! We had a lofe jacket that was not coast guard approved and the life guard on duty promptly got us another one which was fantastic. However, she talked down to me as if she was talking to a child. I appreciated her prompt effort to make sure my child was safe, but Im not a two year old and as such do not need to be talked to like one. All in all we had a grest day out here
Awesome place fun for the family! I grew up going here as a kid and now i bring my own kids!
This is a great place to get a variety of exercise and workouts. Each area has trailned people to help you get the most from your workout and achieve your goals for fitness and strength. We were able get our yearly membership mostly paid for by our insurance advantage plan which is Select Health.
Great staff, great facilities. My 2 years old loves the pool, that by itself makes the membership worth it.
While there can be a fair share of gross moments in the pool area for smells, the entire Center is very interesting to go to.It features a jogging track, various types of work out machines, pools, basketball courts, outside areas and daycare programs for parents. For various different people doing various different things they can all go to the Rec Center for their needs.
Sort of a bland place. Im trying to get my younger toddler into swimming, but they didnt have much besides a small kiddie pool. I remember at the caldwell y they have a fun kids fountain for them to play with and larger kids area. I thought the rec would have something similar but it didnt. Good pools for older children and adults though.
Took my kids swimming. Its not a very extravagant pool, but they had a lot of fun. The staff and life guards are all very polite and professional. Everything was quite clean. Not my first visit and wont be my last.
I love this place. They have anything you could need as far as fitness goes. They have a wide variety of classes for fitness. They also have a full saline pool, a couple kiddy pools, a sauna, a steam room, a rock climbing wall, racket ball, a full weight room, basket ball, tennis courts outside.... Etc.Some things are shut down right now. Like the steam room...
Had our annual HOA meeting there. Rooms are always with adequate seating. Been going there for several years now. Always pleased. Excellent helpful staff.
Its a wonderful place to exercise and swim. Because of Covid 19, theyre not doing One on One appointments. Which is a bummer. Hopefully all this will pass.
You must see this City of Nampa two story facility, with 5 pools, indoor track and hundreds pieces of exercise equipment. St Als Medical Rehab Services (STARS) even there. Just drop in to see what our city offers. Bring your camera so you can brag to residents of other cities!!!!
I have been a member for 8 years, and I will no longer be renewing my membership here. This gym closes earlier than most and closes for renovations to the basketball court or various reasons each year. The staff is not courteous. The weight equipment is outdated. I enjoyed this gym in the past, but it is obsolete. Not a suitable gym for bodybuilders.
Wonderful environment, just Wish the hot tub was up and running.
I really like this place. Popular hang out spot
I love this rec center! They have great equipment and facilities. They are good to repair any faulty equipment in a timely manner. They close the facilities often to have deep cleaning, which I appreciate. You can bring your own locks for their lockers. The class instructors are great and frequent. The preschool is wonderful! Ive put all my kids in to their classes and the teachers are amazing. They have classes a couple times a week. Your children can still be in the class even if you dont have a rec membership, but a rec membership makes it cheaper.
This is a wonderful facility...love going there because I feel better later.
A great place for family fun! Clean, affordable, something for everyone.
Smells like pool water everywhere. Not pleasant. Headache inducing.
The REC center is the perfect place for me to be able to practice volleyball and basketball. They provide all of the equipment for a fair price.
They have great facilities, however, they have an indoor track and it seems like every time I go to run on their track, somebody is complaining about people running on the track. There are three lanes, one for walking, one for jogging, and one for running. My complaint is that there are almost always people walking in any of the three lanes, so when I am running and see this happen, I go around them. You can see where the complaints come from. The two seconds I go around them and am running in a different lane. Do yourselves a favor and stop catering to every single person who comes in and whines about people running on a track that was made for it in the designated lane and get the hell out of the wrong lane. If you want to walk so badly and not be bothered by people running, use a treadmill, theres dozens of them.
My son is enjoying his swimming lessons.
Very clean, everyone is nice, plenty of machines available. Lots of classes to choose from.
This is a great opportunity for your health !
We are so glad this is in Nampa. I have come here for years and my family really enjoys all the varied activities. A favorite is the rock wall and pool.
The Nampa Recreation Center has the best Zumba instructors around.
Great place to watch my grandaughters swim. I really appreciated our national anthem being played before the swim meet.
This is my two times a month I get out to be with other near my age who have many combinations of similar interests to keep me alive. This also takes me out of duplex that never changes and again become part of the community.
Very clean and an awesome selection of equipment and amenities for the price. The pool area is truly a stand out and far superior to anything else in the area. Dont bother with a membership unless you plan on near weekly visits and or the classes provided as there are much more cost effective options such as the punch passes.
Clean and spacious. Lots of things to do. Hot tub chemicals are always so strong it makes your eyes burn.
PARENTS BEWARE!! Please look into other places to send your child to a preschool. This is an extremely poor quality environment for a child.
Go here to watch the grandkids
It is an amazingly big gym. Has many different classes to offer such as photography, belly dancing, etc. The only thing that bothers me about that place is the strong colorine smell in their hottub.
Very good and clean. Nice indoor running track, nice pool. Friendly staff.
Yoga and Zumba classes here are great, the facility is clean and I have always had a enjoyable time here ever since I was a kid.
Gym is clean and the workout equipment is in good order, great place to get in shape
Ive been going here for over 15 years. They do a great job maintaining their equipment, offer lots of classes, and have a lot of different things you can do. Love the Rec Center!!
The best family recreation center
Offers soo much to do for everyone in family open good hours
The front desk was rather rude and the facility is semi clean. Solid 2 star establishment
Been a member for several years. Its an excellent facility for the cost and it has an indoor running track which works great for me in the winter.
Enjoy going to the Rec. I did paddleboarding for the 2nd time today. It is a fun class. It is not about paddling up and down the swim lane. We did some good exercises and I fell off a few time. I enjoy the treadmills and workout bike with the scenery views. Almost like youre running or biking the roads/trails themselves.
Great facility. Provide outstanding service to the community.
I love the KIA program for my daughter. Keeps her active in the Summer time instead of the TV baby sitting her.
I go here about everyday to play basketball, workout, to swim, or just to go running. I love it here cause its nice and cool inside, everyone there is really friendly and the staff are too. If you need a place to have some fun, this is the place. The memberships are really cheap and affordable for anyone. I recommend this place for everyone cause its just an awesome place to go.
This place blows my mind. Best rec Ive seen
Took my dog for a walk on the outside trail. Beautiful day and friendly ladies that stop and visit. Plan to go more often now that weather is nicer. Great exercise and fresh air. Theyve done a lot of pruning and cleaned up the trash people throw out there. Nice to see people cleaning up after their pets.
Love the Senior Center located there and especially the Gentle Yoga classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Absolute favorite place to go from the time I was a child, even still to this day. Personally, I really only use the gym, running track, and the pools, however there is a variety of other things to do such as basketball, rock climbing, etc. The pool area includes a lap pool, a warmer pool, a kiddie pool, a pool with a water slide and another water toy, a deep pool with a rope to swing from, and lastly, a hot tub. Upstairs from the pool is a sauna, as well as a Turkish bath. Locker rooms are well kept and clean. Gym has a variety of different machines, and people are typically very friendly. Track runs along the upper level with lots of windows, so it gives a nice view to look down on.
The activities offered are amazing. A big selection of classes and training opportunities. The morning crowd is so nice and motivational. The trainers have helped me recognize and grow into my fitness goals.
I was here for a swim meet... its well lit and looks clean.
Zumba classes are a blast!
A safe place for your children. Staff is very active and nice.
The Rec center is a great facility, and though the building is older, it is very well cared for. The running track is nice at 5 laps to a mile. The pools are great with something for everyone, lap pool, hot tub, kids pool, diving pool, and a water slide.
So much to do, so much to learn, and never a dull moment here. Child and adult alike will most certainly find themselves finding health, strength, vitality, and energy at this bustling Enjoyment center.
The judo program is awesome since sensei Mike has come
Went in today to renew my membership at the Rec Center. Im 67 and just had both knees replaced. Both I am my family have had memberships there and have paid literally thousands of dollars in membership fees over the years. The last time we had an active membership was in 2017, The membership lady takes all my information and updates the address to our new address and she informs me that we have a $65 unpaid balance. That is impossible. It was automatically deducted from our checking account each month. She explained that she did not find a written cancellation note in our file, so they appear to have penalized us for not finding that note. Neither my wife or I EVER received any type of notice that there was an unpaid balance due. My senior membership is only $320 now if paid in cash, as I was prepared to do, but I refuse to be blackmailed over a balance we do not owe. The problem with the Nampa Rec Center is they are government funded and are therefore oblivious about good business practices and keeping members happy. Why should employees care if membership or income drops, the government steps in an pays the deficit. From some reports it appears Nampa City is virtually bankrupt compared to the Boise surplus. The Rec Center policies would change radically if they no longer received subsidies and actually had to run it like a private business. Maybe it would make sense for them to write off a $65 two year old debt that is incorrect if favor of earning $300-$700 per year in membership dues for years ahead, but no. That is how government entities do things. I will simply attend another gym in the area. The doors at Nampa Rec Center would close, if their subsidies quit and they had to survive on a solid profit and loss statement and actually encourage and promote memberships.
Best bang for the buck when it comes to a gym. Plus its family friendly, the kids can go climb the rock wall while we lift weights, they can go play basketball or racquetball or volleyball. Lots of good classes included with the membership, everyone is so friendly and helpful. And their kids in action after school program has been a lifesaver with our kids and work schedules. Theres also so many different community events advertised, and members get discounts on those. I was a member of Axiom for a while, and Im definitely not going back there with all that the rec center offers.
Great place! Its like an Olympic training center open to the public!
Great food at the Senior Center lunch with Mary Jane Winterfeld
Signed up to make road trips fun experience
Equipment and facilities were great except for the hot tub. Felt like bathing in a hot bleach bath. Way too much chlorine and it is always that way.
Go there every day enjoy being there Dale
The play center is so great, the women who work in there are absolutely terrific and kind and genuinely care about the kids. They are playful, enthusiastic, engaged, etc. My son was terrified to go into the place center at first (he’s 2) and now he loves it and often goes in saying “Hi!” with a big smile. The machines in the weight area are of good quality and are clean. The trainers are helpful and never seem put off when asked a question. We love the Nampa Rec. Center!
This is a nice clean place to work out. As with any gym there are muscle heads to contend with, but overall they keep to their little free weight corner. The pool is nice for the most part, but they hold swim meets there, so expect some days not to be able to use it.
They are back open. Masks not required and people are supposed to clean off the weight machines, which i saw most people doing. Plus a staff member was cleaning machines as well.
Excellent facility for the whole family! Has indoor track, pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. Rock wall climbing. Large selection of exercise machines. Group exercise classes. You can also find classes for a large assortment of hobbies as well as trip excursions for the travel enthusiast. Something for everyone and a huge asset to the city of Nampa!
Cheap place to work out lots of equipment
My 10 year old went to the New Years lock in I was late picking her up by 15 minutes and even though the staff which was teenagers where tired very tired they where so awesome super amazing and inviting the staff was and when you think about the fact there kids working it really makes you smile the building is open with a clean yet homie feel to it parking is not to far away and you are aloud to pull in front and park for a a moment if your running in and out
Its the Rec Center whats not to love about that place theres something for everyone
If I could, I wouldn’t even give this place any type of star... If you are looking for a facility that will help support you or anyone else in regards to your fitness or health, this is NOT the place to go. Apparently you are NOT allowed to work out in a small group, to help motivate your family in achieving your health goals. This is a facility that condemns you for working out and calls you a liar because you decided to go to the gym at a different time and Isabelle has NEVER seen you. I suggest that if you are looking for a trainer, I can almost guarantee you Isabelle is not the trainer for you. Her attitude, persona, and tone is completely rude and condemning. I’m so disappointed with how you’ve treated my family and I Nampa Rec. shame on you.
Updated gym equipment and friendly staff
The prices are so much even for just a couple of hours. Sometimes the staff is nice, sometimes they seem like you are bothering them. Solid 3.
Did great for my daughters bday party. Thanks so much
Wonderful facility.
Nice facility but if you get into financial troubles like a divorce and cant fulfill your two year contract they charge you for duration (which is hundreds of dollars) and require you to pay it in order to begin a new contract once youve gotten back on your feet. Its sad how endorsed by the city ends up being another business who wants money for nothing...all just so that you can lead a healthier life. Its best to invest in second hand weight sets that and body weight workouts which cant seek to financially rape you or your family.
Always a wonderful place for the hole family
I loved Nampa Rec Center. Then my daughter got the stomach flu and that all went to pot. She missed 3 Days because I didn’t want to contaminate the pool with vomit and diarrhea. But now I’m out $ because they won’t transfer her to another session so she can actual pass the class. I took the spot of another kid when the class wasn’t even full. I have to spend 40$ to get a Drs note to get any help. Terrible customer service!! A place who supposedly helps families is not doing their job! I have referred tons of families here. I will NOT be doing that anymore!
Good selection of equipment. Great staff
Great facility
Fun place to hang out with friends and work out.
I had a lot of fun swimming and rock climbing
My family was the first one to enter the center when it opened its doors. We were very satisfied with the services provided. My favorite was the pool arthritis class: Twinges in the Hinges. Ive been living out of state for awhile but look forward to resuming my membership when I move back.
Great yoga classes & nice weight room
Pretty dated. They could definitely use a deep clean and coat of paint. Pool was warm and pleasant.
I think they offer a lot for their membership! However, I do feel like they have some pretty outdated equipment. I really just to run and use weights so its good for that. Overall Im happy with how close it is to my home and neighborhoods and I love the staff!
This is a very cool place just whatever you do make sure you PAY YOUR MEMBERSHIP FEES!!!I lost my job two months before my one year mark and now its going to cost me nearly $200 to renew my membershipHonestly probably not going to happen anytime soon
This place is amazing. Great staff... Very clean
Called to see if they had any promotions for prospective members during the holidays. I get some gal who sounds like I woke her up from her nap saying nah. We dont do anything like that. No offer to go check with management to see if theres any way someone can come in for a day to experience the rec center, just... Nah, nah, we dont do that Sure doesnt make me want to hurry right in there and buy a membership!
Classes, swimming, hot tub, sauna, weight room with personal trainers, basketball courts, rock climbing and more for 35$ a month? Worth it
Two levels of excellent equipment with swim pools. Tennis. Racquet ball. Free weights and awesome trainers. Pat is a sweet friendly lady with many years experience.
Pleasant facility.....well kept machines.......friendly trainers....cheerful desk staff
Fun place to swim and lots to do
My son takes swimming lessons here, and always has a great experience. Pools are a bit over chlorinated, but I get it!!!
Great place to workout. Equipment is in great shape. Facilities are well maintained.
