Have been to Lakewood Camping Resort many times over the last 4 years, always in late October early November or April, May timeframe. We really like being able to ride the bicycles and not have to leave the park. Having coffee and pastries at the coffee shop, and walks on the beach is also nice in the morning. We like Lakewood Camping Resort.

We have camped here twice and love this campground. Its far enough away from the get up in the downtown Myrtle Beach area, yet close enough to be convenient. This campground offers several ammenities, such as the water park, which my kids love, laundromat, food services and easy access to the beach. You can rent a pedal boat or kayak and go out on the lake, and mini golf all of which are included. Also pretty much daily activities going on for the family. Staff are very courteous and willing to help. The sites are a spacious and easily accessible. We look forward to coming back.

Great place especially during the off season. We spent the weekend relaxing and enjoying the sounds of the ocean. Our site was a 30 second walk to the beach. Great quiet get away however there were enough families with young children that delighted in riding their bikes, going for golf cart rides and swimming in the indoor pool. So much for families to do during busy time and slow time. Staff was very nice and helpful. The ice cream sundae was the best Ive had all summer! We cant wait to go back and bring our grandson the next time. I highly recommend for family fun but also for older couples who just want to relax by the beach. Make reservations in advance for their busy season I hear they fill up fast!

Great campground, however the sites are just ok they are very, very tight for bigger campers. All dirt. Not sure if our site they had just put dirt/sand down but we had a time backing in. Had to put truck in 4 wheel drive after getting stuck. Ground was WAY too soft. Reason for the 4 stars. (Pics)Other then the sites we did have a great time and the kids really enjoyed the pool/slides. We will be back.Just a suggestion, lights wrapped around the palm trees in the pool area would look amazing and would provide some more light. Especially with the pool open till 10pm.

We just completed a 5 day stay. Being right at the beach was fabulous. We were a few spots in from it. I found it quiet, laid back and safe. Bathrooms/showers were clean enough, it is a campground. Sadly that’s were my positive experience ends. The lots are way to close and infested with fire ants. But by far the biggest and most pressing issue is the allowance political flags; flags on carts, the campers, flag poles.. everywhere in view is a reminder how divided we the people are. So much so it made us quite uncomfortable to enjoy the other amenities. This is supposed to be a vacation were we could just enjoy the time and meet others doing the same. We really should be leaving all political bulkshit at the door and just enjoy each other. Im hoping in the future you change your policy so that it encourages the campers to mingle.

Always enjoy going here! Never been during peak time though. With as BIG as this place is Im sure the pools, arcade, playgrounds and water slides get crowded. I just absolutely have not had a dull moment from the moment we started looking at these homes just riding around one day. Vanelle is an awesome chic she was so helpful and has a wonderful personality. We are so happy to be here. Everyone is just so polite and just nice to be around...just s9 many happy people around here. Nothing like where e lived before. Were from gastonia...and i just completely forgot how nice people can really be. I feel so much better physically and mentally this place is just what we needed. Its perfect for me and my husband. Im so blessed that we just decided one day to stop in here, and we just ended up buying a house the next day and we just completely have felt like were at home from the first day we got here. We had to make a last minute change to our schedule and Lakewood was available. Wish we had scheduled our entire Vacation here instead of just as a stop on our way to Florida. 1) This campgrounds is right on the beach! 2) They have a water park that is fun for all ages! 3) There are food vendors throughout the park. Try the shrimp, it is delicious!!! 4) Put your trash by the road and they pick it up. 5) It was not crowded as you would expect. 6) They have indoor and outdoor pools, along with the ocean and lakes. 7) They have many other amenities such as a game room, excercise room, library, craft room, theater and so on. We only had one day to look around. We will definitely be coming back for an entire week or more next year!!!

Weve been coming to Lakewood for 6 or 7 years now. this is the first bad review Ive ever left them, or anyone for that matter. first, they put us in wayyyy to small a campsite, our camper would have never been able to fit, not to mention our car and our rented golf cart. that site was also on the corner of 2 extremely busy roads and we have 2 dogs and a little one, so that would have been very dangerous. also, we told them when we made our reservation that we would probably want to stay an extra day, but when we called to make that final, they said we would have to switch to a different site for that last day. so we did that. however, the site we moved from and all surrounding sites remained empty the entire time. that being said, our first site was incredibly difficult to get into, as there was a lampost right in front of it. also, it was covered in ant hills, and even though we sprayed, there was no killing them all and they infested our camper and subsequently, our car. the picnic table was also rotten and unusable. the water park was nice (except for the extremely slippery step into the pool, that several people have already fallen on), as well as the amenities and activities. we have loved coming here, but are extremely disappointed, and still battling the ants, so we will definitely be debating whether or not well be returning.

Currently camping here. The pool, kid splash zone, lazy river and slides are so much fun when they aren’t over crowded. (one slide had a jagged edge the blue ice looking one in the bigger pool and we mentioned it to the life guard and they said it wasn’t their problem)The coffee house has amazing coffee and pastries. The sub shop is good a little pricey. The ice cream shop is AMAZING! Golf cart rental is the same price almost as your campsite. DO NOT CAMP HERE IF YOUR LITTLE ONES GO TO BED BEFORE 11pm or try to camp as far away from the main strip. Or if you have PTSD and do not like loud noises like fireworks. Our MAJOR problem was that golf carts riders would ride around at night until 11pm sometimes past 11pm blaring music, yelling, honking horns, and screaming. Calling the security office did absolutely no good! I was told that there was nothing they could do because it wasn’t past 11pm and we would have to deal with it. Our 1 year old and 5 year had difficulty sleeping because of the loud music and people on the golf carts. I have PTSD and I have a problem with fireworks they went off our first night here from 8pm to 11pm, Lakewood can’t do anything about it because people (that are staying at Lakewood) are setting them off on the beach and that is county property. Was really looking forward to nice relaxing long weekend with my family to only be stressed out because of loud rude campers.

Dear Lakewood,We have been staying at your resort for over the past 25 years, this year we are sorry to say we sinned. We decided to stay at Ocean Lakes. Now Ocean Lakes is nice but it is no Lakewood! First in Sept. you can not use the waterslides my kids were not happy! Next there is no hot tub to relax you after you have chased the kids around all day. The only thing Ocean Lakes has that is better is pricing but considering you cant use all of the amenities what good is a cheaper price. Anyway we are looking forward to our 2021 Sept. vacation at Lakewood.

Fair cell phone reception. Cable available on some sites. Trash pick up at your site. There are sites under trees at distance from beach and exposed sites close to beach. You can rent golf cart or bring your own. Everyone drives around in their carts. There is a general store, ice cream and coffee shop. Large laundry facility. Play ground and water slide with lazy river. Staff friendly and helpful.

Been here several times and have always had a great experience until now. Campsites have ant hills EVERYWHERE! To the point that you will get them inside your RV if it’s not treated with some spray first. Bath house was absolutely disgusting! No toilet paper, feces in the showers...I don’t know if they even cleaned them daily. Prices to rent a golf cart is almost as much as renting a site and you can’t bring your own. Gave 2 stars for the beach and water park. Both are well maintained.

Great location, tons of amenities, the pool/water park is amazing and the beach access is the best there is. Wifi barely works, we could not get the cable to work, but we did not care. Unfortunately you can not reserve a specific site, just what block, unlike other campgrounds, but most of the sites are large. Being an older campground they have limited pull through, most are back-in. The amenities and facilities are second to none and the prices are great for the area. This has to be one of our favorite vacations we have ever took. Still somewhat new to our camper but it was great. The sites are a little close together but it works just fine. They have everything included with your admission. Mini golf, paddle boats, shuffle board, basketball, volleyball, bocce ball, water park, corn hole, and horse shoes. They have plenty to eat on site and a nice coffe house. You really dont have to leave the resort if you dont want to. Could have used a few more sunny days but you get what you get. The one down side I would have to say is that our site had quite a few ants on it, and I noticed the neighbors did too. Other than that I had no complaints. On a side note we did not get a golf cart and was just fine. If you get one great they are helpful but we just thought it was too much to spend. If you dont mind walking it really isnt that bad, and if you have bikes that you take with you it is even better.

We stayed labor day weekend at Lakewood. They checkin process was very quick with our reservations. Pulled in to a booth and didnt have to go inside. Its labor day weekend and everyone was wearing mask when inside any places on the campground. They have a store on grounds. A little high prices but as expected for the convenience. Also a ice cream parlor and coffee shop. Pools looked nice but didnt use due to covid fears. Beach access and also saw a small inlet where parents were swimming with children. It was the perfect little spot right on the beach but no waves to worry about with the little ones. The wifi here was really slow during the heavy traffic of holiday weekend so be expected to not really be able to get get service. My Verizon service here was horrible as well. So no internet really. Great family campground, but could use some improvements. They have some roads with trees in the middle of these roads that are impassable to tall rigs. At the least the map should show restricted access roads. We arrived to an assigned site far too short to stay off the road. We did get assigned a new site, but not for the full duration of our stay. The sites on the northcsude of the level, but unimproved. There are a gazillion golf carts. Most with blinding LED lighting. With all the negative, the kids love it and your on the ocean.

We stayed here 3 days. My son had a baseball tournament in myrtle beach. We got hooked up the first day and we werent getting enough power for our AC to work. Maintenance came out and got it fixed. Everything was working and just fine. We got back to the site Saturday morning and no AC. While we were at the baseball tournament, maintenance unhooked our RV and plugged it in somewhere else!! Spent 4 hours sweating and burning up trying to get issue fixed. Manager never answered our calls. We finally had someone other than maintenance come out and hook up a charger to fix the issue. Now, we are trying to figure out what they did to our RV when they unplugged us. Who knows how much thats going to cost. We missed the get together with the baseball team because we had to be at the camper while they attempted to fix it. Didnt get to go sightseeing on the 1 day we had the time to go out. Went to talk to manager and she had an attitude. Acted like it wasnt their fault. She had the audacity to say, well, what do you want me to do? Ruined our day. She said she would give us half day refund. Woo hoo a whopping 40 dollars for sweating and hot with our 3 kids, one who is only 18 months old. She was hot and miserable. I will not be going back. Rude staff and just decide to unplug your camper with no notifications. Still havent seen our half day refund. Should have gone elsewhere.

Love this place BUT why doesn’t Lakewood fix the campsites that are nothing but mud holes after a rain. How about investing some of the money to put in concrete pads and update the place some. Houses in here with their lawns needing mowing, no trimming around street number signs. It is going downhill every year and this could be a beautiful place. No reason everyone is going to Ocean Lakes now. Go over and look how neat it is there. Sad since I’ve been coming off and on since the 70’s. Would not recommend it to anyone!!!!

All I have to say is this place has changed. I have been coming here for 10 plus years and I have seen the decline in service here at Lakewood. First off, the front desk workers are rude and disrespectful. They do not make you feel welcome and do little to help you when you have a question or a need. For example: we arrived a few hours early because we wanted to get ahead of traffic. When I went to front desk, all I asked was to get a pass so we could go sit on the beach until our villa/campsite (we had both) were ready. I thought this was an easy task being is that we spent well over $3000 for the week. I was told they would not let me in because that’s their policy. I then explained that we had just driven 13 hours over night and didn’t even sleep yet. We understand completely that the villa and camp site wouldn’t be ready. All we asked was that we could go sit on the beach until the check in time. To make things worse, when I said well what am I supposed to do for the next 4 hours I was told to “go walk around Walmart or something” by a front desk associate. To make things better, I was standing next to a gentleman who got ticketed by the security in the resort for having his golf cart parked where it shouldn’t have been because his daughter had a medical emergency and they had to rush her to the hospital. Really Lakewood? Ticketing your own guests!? The Only reason I gave them 2 stars is because the resort is still nice and the beach is beautiful. Might have to check out Ocean Lakes Resort (right next door) next year for vacation.

Lakewood is not a good place to stay if you have a dog or want to sleep at night. Their security team is incapable of enforcing fireworks after 12PM much less the legal quiet time of 11PM. Horry County PD will not respond either. We were her for 8 nights and did not get peace until after 12:30 on average. Also you should be aware of reckless golf cart operation and loud music every night sometimes until very late.

My family has been coming here for years. Amenities including the waterpark area are fantastic. Sites have always been good. Wifi worked at site and beach area. Get to beach early to set up especially if youre trying to social distance. Mark your area because people will try and invade space but dont be afraid to say something.

The place is INCREDIBLE. My family and I use to go to Pirate land (maybe two times actually) and we decided to give this place a try. So fun and so friendly, though the service is just like any other. They have an indoor pool, a water park (which is my favorite), arcade, and so much more. My family and I learned shuffleboard there. Definitely recommend!

This is a large park with mostly big rigs. Overall amenities were great. The snack bar and store were open on Thanksgiving. The heated indoor pool looked clean. We did not go in. Right on the beach. Friendly neighbors. Coffee shop had decent coffee and pastries, open at seven AM. Close to shopping and Myrtle Beach downtown. plenty of clean, strategically located heated restrooms with hot water showers. One star off for campsites on the small side. With that said, it was a great off-season value. Safe for kids and dogs at our moment in time. Very professional check-in process.

Lakewood is our familys choice for campgrounds at Myrtle Beach. While it might not have concrete pads it makes up for it with a quite place to enjoy a week at the beach.Once its quiet time you rarely hear anything after quite time or golfcarts ripping and running around.

The first time I stayed at Lakewood was in a tent, at the Son Festival in the early 1970s. We started RVing here in the mid 1980s. There are parts of this Campground that look like they did in the 70s. Thats not a criticism.Granted, its not a perfect campground. When we checked in on our current stay a security guard was giving me the hard stare like I stole the governors dog. I tried to lighten the atmosphere with a friendly hello. Didnt work. I guess thats the world we live in. And, the fish we had for dinner from the campground store wasnt good at all. A few years ago there was a red catering trailer down on the beach that was awesome. Times change, things change..Lakewood, like all of the beachfront campgrounds has tons of golf carts running everywhere. It can feel intimidating just to go for a walk. But, thats beach campgrounds. So what makes Lakewood different? We think that the campers are generally friendlier at Lakewood. In this area we think Lakewood campers are the friendliest, then Ocean Lakes, then Pirateland.Another reviewer mentioned veterans with PTSD might have an issue here. It does seem that loud fireworks go off every night nearby. I cant say if its actually in the campground or just nearby.
