Its a great design. The rough - the first cut - is punishing. The long par 4s require good length off the tees. Theres no doubt whatsoever that Ill be playing there again - several times. I like the Palmetto course more than Pinehills but then thats a personal choice. Pinehills is lovely too. The staff are very nice - which is always great to come across. I gave this golf club a star less cos I believe they can do better in terms of rainwater drainage.I recommend Myrtlewood strongly!
Played paulmetto course 10/23 afternoon. Generally the course was in good shape. Problem drainage in front of most greens apparently. Large areas of mud in front of greens. So much that ball plugged in front of greens. Also, undisclosed to players they closed all fairway restrooms at about 3 pm. The signs said open. Consequently we had a major issue with them being closed after consuming liquid refreshments being sold on the course. If this is the policy of early closing please so indicate on signs other than “open” as displayed.
Played front 9 of Myrtlewood - Pinehills course on 8/3. Course was in fantastic shape. With exception of a few bunkers, course condition was comparable to Tidewater and Barefoot. Only charged $22 for 9 at 1pm. Layout had good variety and was very enjoyable. Course was empty due to hurricane moving in so was able to play 9 in a little over an hour. Would highly recommend
Course was in very good condition. They had just over seeded with winter rye and greens were a tad slow but rolled very nice!!Confused by the building completely locked up after our round and not having facilities at 3:30.
Just one of those days they were mowing and clippings were everywhere. Might as well played in a just bush hogged field. Wish would have played another course especially for $70 a round.
Was pleasantly surprised with the overall experience of the course and clubhouse. I think course will be aerated this coming week but its a must play, palmetto course.Really nice greens and clean fairways, clean out of bounds, nice bunkers and tee boxes.U dont come by the clubhouse during ur round but they have a snackbar and restrooms at 5&13 although it was closed possibly due to covid 19,but they did have a beverage cart running cash only.New very nice carts with bag covers and usb charging.
Been there two years in row and the course looks to be in great shape....I will let you know after the morning round
Course was very wet and played long. Great time on the golf course and very good food at the clubhouse.
We played the Palmetto course May 9th.Fabulous conditions, greens are rolling and bunkers are still like new, fairways are green and well maintained and the rough is thick and not too challenging. Fun to play a course in the spring with all the grass green. We finished in less than 4 hours and never had to wait and never saw the group behind us. Great experience. Well done Myrtlewood.
Very thick this weekend because of over seeding.. of course they dont tell you.. not worth the 60 bucks at all...
My friends and I have been playing here 2 -3 times monthly. The rates were reasonable until last week when they jumped dramatically. When we questioned the sudden rate increase they made lame excuses, citing demand as the cause. We didnt encounter another group the entire round.pn top of this the course was in poor shape, nearly all bunkers were full of water. We wont be going back.
The greens & sand traps are very well maintained. Proshop Staff, Bag Drop & Beverage Cart Attendant are all helpful, friendly & courteous.
Traditional course. Too pricey when booked on line for the quality.
The 7 am tee time was awesome and palmeto course does not double tee so we played in under 3hrs and the course was in great shape
Love playing Myrtlewood, both courses are a fun round of golf.
Great course well maintained and reasonably priced.
Beautiful course, great landscaping and terrific views. However, it is very fast paced and they track pace of play very closely. Very busy and high end golf mainly... Never played anywhere so restrictive! Not a place for casual golfers!
Played Pine Hills and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The course was in great shape and played in a fair manner with enough challenges to keep me honest. Anxious to play the Palmetto Course!
Myrtlewood Palmetto is what we played. Weve played the other course, Pinehills and we liked Palmetto much better. Fun, pretty greens were in great shape along with the fairways. Limited bathrooms and there are some houses along the course, but they are not everywhere. There is a central spot in the crossroads of the course that has hot dogs, sandwiches, beer, & bathrooms. You finish along the intercoastal which is quite scenic. Cooler rules are loose depending on which day it is, be prepared either way.
In great shape, the greens read true.
We were running late for our tee time but the guys in the pro shop and Henry took care of us. Nice and flat laying golf course. We had a very relaxing round and we were told to have a good time. We did not find that our round was restrictive and in fact the staff went out of their way to accommodate us.
This is a great facility. Two 18 hole golf courses on site. Played the Pinehill course yesterday and it was in terrific condition.
We visit Myrtle Beach twice per year, and the Palmetto course at Myrtlewood is always one of the courses I play. The layout is varied, and the greens are always in good shape. I prefer the Palmetto course, as you do not return to the clubhouse at the turn, so they do not double tee. Getting the first tee time in the morning guarantees a quick round for the Grand Strand area.
Palmetto course had the best conditions of about any course Ive ever played.Everything was green and I didnt have a bad lie all day.Pine hills course was nice too except theyre bunkers need some love but it was wet.
Great to have the choice of two courses in one place. The Palmetto course has renovated their bunkers and Pinehills really could do with the same. Greens consistent on both courses. Fun courses and very popular.
The course was in great shape with water way views.
Course is in good shape, greens receptive, played Pine Hills on a busy Monday
Typical touristy public course. Extremely slow play, 5.5 hours. Course wasnt bad but too many nice courses to play in Myrtle.
One of my favorite places to play. Very good staff and course Id always in great shape. A lot of effort had been made to keep the courses updated.
Had a great day on the Pine Hills course. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Course was in great condition for a fall round. Will definitely be back.
Played it on 4-29-19. Course was in great shape. Greens were quick (not to fast) and ran true. Fairways were also nice. Over all layout is good. Some blind shots. My only 2 negatives are. 1) You dont go back to the club house until the 18th hole. 2) Wish they had the hole layouts printed on the scorecard. My positive are. 1) Great staff. 2) Great greens. 3) Got around the course in 4 1/2 hours.
Played the Myrtlewood PineHills course today, Fri. 9/27/19.The course is in great condition. An item that Founders Group or Myrtlewood Golf Club needs to address is that they need to install water hazard flags on the course, as there are many blind water hazards. Myrtlewood management has been made aware of this but has chosen not to address this issue presently. As a Myrtle Beach golfer, I cannot understand why they havent installed the water hazard flags. The other Myrtlewood course, Palmetto, has water hazard flags on it.
Nice fair track with light challenges.
Palmetto was in great shape today. Always enjoy playing Myrtlewood.
Had a great 1st day of golf here during my vacation.
We played the Palmetto course. The staff was great and we loved the layout. Slow play was an issue as the group in front of us played from the tips and should have been playing the ladies tee. The course is in a great location and makes for easy travel.
Really good condition.
Golf course is in great shape. Pro shop staff always friendly and professional.
Very impressed with this golf club. We ayed the palmetto course. Was in great condition staff was friendly, course play was perfect. Highly recommend its a perfect challenge and user friendly course. Definitely will be back..
Two 18 hole courses that are a good test of golf. Ive played both courses recently and even though its winter conditions they were both in good shape. I live locally and play most of my rounds at TPC but I play elsewhere once a week. Myrtlewood is always a fun stop.
Recently had an expericence with the club over a broken club that occurred during my visit there. The club took full responsibility and was more than gracious in helping to resolve the issue. Thank you Dustin the Head Pro for being very professional over the incident and resolving the issue with great customer service. This reaffirms why our group picked the course to play. Not only in great shape, but professional staff and the willingness to be customer focused! We will certainly return again.
Great course for kids and adults. Not to challenging and afternoon rounds with kids has good pace of play and kids play free. Very helpful staff on site. Greens and course in great shape.
Played there on May 11 2019 and had a great experience. Very good layout, fair and greens were in very good shape. Will play both courses again on my next visit. Friendly staff.
Great course!
Second time here and the same bad experience with a group of people. Jammed tee times and two groups waiting on every hole. Hard pass next time.
Friendly staff. Course was in good shape. Great club rental package. Good experience. Were playing there again tomorrow.
Course was in wonderful shape and the greens were great. Highly recommended golf course. Not a single piece of trash on the course!
Ww enjoyed the course! It was challenging without beating us down... We are casual golfers. The only complaint we had was that you arent allowed to use your own cooler, but they dont provide a cooler, either. On a sweltering August day, a cooler would have been helpful to keep our water and beer cold.
I had a great time on this golf course. The greens were in great shape for the winter storm that just hit the east coast. You would have never known they had snow 2 days ago. The fairways and roughs were perfect! We had great service from start to finish. I highly recommend this golf course to all golfers!
Brutal pace of play, sub-par maintenance. Houses are lined fairly close to the fairways. No real standout or memorable holes. On the bright side, good service at the golf shop/restaurant and good midtown location.
Great coarse made my trip more enjoyable
Course in excellent condition.
The layout of the course is very nice and I would give them a great review if it wasnt for the awful greens. It was impossible to get a proper read and half of the grass on the greens were dead. Otherwise, great course.
Played the Palmetto course today. A nice course which isnt as hard as some of the others weve played this week (Arrowhead, Myrtle Beach National) mostly because there are less water hazards. Its usually windy here so that keeps it cool. Course is in fine shape for this time of year.
Great place to have fun at golf.
Never disappoints. Love playing this place. $6 breakfast buffet, cant go wrong.
Course was nice but they had 1 kid taking care of 100 people....they over book....front 9 it took 2 hours and back 9 took 3 1/2....they have no hole description when you pull up to the hole...go elsewherr !
Greens excellent fairways above average. Bunkers ok they dont maintain them like they used to.
Really nice course. Played the Pine Hills course with my 12 yr old daughter. Rented 2 sets of new Taylor Mades from the pro-shop. Love that the Myrtle Beach golf courses encourage new young players by letting them play for free. Had an enjoyable 9 holes. Speed of play was just right. All the staff we met were very nice and helpful. Highly recommend!!
The course would be nice if there were not huge sinkholes (4 to be exact) that have been there for literally years.
Played the Palmetto course and really enjoy the layout of the course. The fairways and tees are in good shape. Well manicured and taken care off. They pay close attention to detail on this course, however, the greens are in TERRIBLE shape. And these greens havent even been aerated yet! Most of them are either burnt out around the edges from lack of water, disease, or a new person mowing the greens and cutting to far into the fringes! The greens that are in decent shape are bumpy and it is impossible to get a true roll. I played a great round for me today on this course (83), but I can only imagine that I would have probably broke 80 if not for the garbage greens! Cmon man, just a little bit of effort, especially when I am paying $50 for a round!By the way, the staff is very friendly in the clubhouse!
The Pine Hills golf course is more intersting than the Palmetto which is between houses.
Played Pinehills. Nice layout. Good condition for winter season. Reasonably priced.
Great Staff. Courses in excellent shape. Well done. MW.
If you havent played here in a while y io u need to, course in great shape and staff appreciates your being there .
Pinehills 18 great. Friendly staff.
Teamed up with a couple from D.C. area today pleasant people cart path only do to recent rain greens were slow but a good time
The course is very playable, was in great condition, however with all the rain, it was cart path only. The staff were very friendly. Great experience.
Always play here...Great course...!
Played here this week. Overall a decent course. I too noticed the rudeness of the staff, especially outside of the clubhouse. They were very aggressive about wanting to handle your clubs getting out of the car and placing them on the carts. One person in our group wanted to handle his own and one of the guys made a sarcastic comment. By way this very same thing happened two years ago at this course. The cost this week was too high in my opinion for a weekday morning and for the quality of the course. We encountered ground staff that failed to yield right of way to our group while trying to hit shots. The last complaint concerned the unavailability of the snack bar near the 5th hole and another hole on the backside. Too many courses in the area that are better, cheaper, a with friendlier staff. Not sure I will return to play this venue.
Course was in great shape.
First time here from Canada. Played the palmetto course. Staff and course was excellent. Course is in great shape, greens a little bumpy but not too bad. Will definitely recommend playing this course.
Not to many places to to get in troublevery nice course
Friendly staff, beautiful course
Nice course but did not let us play past 5:45 so we couldnt finish our round. We would been able to play at least half an hour longer with daylight.
Sub 10 handicap. I was first group out, course was in terrible shape. They received quite a bit of rain the week prior but the course had standing water everywhere a week later. You literally walked through mudpits and standing water to get to the ball. I have played here before and the layout is not bad, but the main maintenance is atrocious. Greens were okay with some dead spots and were not overly bumpy. Staff was terrible. Cart guy wouldnt load bags 10 minutes before tee time and then when I loaded it myself I was scolded and told dont worry about my tee time. Left us no time to do any pre round putting because main putting green is closed. I play 4-5 times each time I come to myrtle each and have played here before. But the conditions were awful you couldnt score well even if you were hitting well. Dont plan on returning. Only gave it 2 stars because the layout is still okay
Loving playing this great course.
Excellent course I would recommend this course to anybody who wants to enjoy a great round of golf in Myrtle Beach. It has challenges but if not unforgiving of minor mistakes.
Very good staff polite & helpful. Enjoyed the lay of the land.
Played both courses and i found them both wonderful. Pine hills goes along Route 17 and Palmetto along the Intercoastal, both beautiful and in tremendous shape. Staff was friendly and helpful. Forgot my 7 iron on one of the holes and I called it and it was there the next day so that was great.
This is a well designed challenging but fair layout and the redone greens on Pine Hills will be in perfect shape again soon.
Friendly staff, great course, excellent conditions!
Very playable. Water present but not really in play. Greens are putting rather slowly at this time, but a lot of break. Enjoyable and a course that you can score on.
Bring your shape shots. Almost every hole has a dog leg. Great layout, like the straight 18 without seeing clubhouse at turn. Keeps the pace if play under control
Played the Palmetto course. Course was in much better shape than 5 years ago when I played there last. Wide fairways and very playable. Pins were near the green edges on most holes. Some were ridiculous. You do not come back to the clubhouse at the turn but there is a halfway house selling food and drinks that you pass by on the front and back 9s. Overall good value course. Id rate a 7 out of 10.
Great golf course. Only complaint was there was a slow foursome in front of us. I couldnt figure why they were taking so long especially when on the green. Found out they were getting golf lessons.I have no problem getting lessons but when you start backing up play, it gets ridiculous. When we decided to skip that hole and went around them, the instructor turned us in saying we cut in front of them.Theres far too many golf courses here to have to deal with that. Lesson learned. Put this on my DNR (Do Not Return) list.
This is my favorite place to play golf. Both courses are female-friendly. The staff is courteous, theres a full service snack bar and the 19th hole view is awesome. Moderately priced.
Two courses in very good shape for this time of year.
Wet today but in great condition despite the weather recently
Great course a real deal
Course was in really good shape for the weekend before Christmas, considering all the rain lately not as muddy as I thought it might be a little pricey for the end of December though, the staff was really nice and helpful
