Played this course three times in July 2020. The greens had been aerated so I got a special rate in the mid-30s. The staff and crew are exceptional and very friendly and professional. I had played at the nearby Arrowhead course and the staff there was not friendly at all. It was refreshing to interact with Prestwick staff who were all very courteous and professional. I also happened to run into the owner of the course, Joe, and when I provided my positive feedback about the staff, he was very appreciative of it. The course is challenging but fair. Some par 3 holes are quite long, so you need to be fairly accurate with your shots. Holes 9 and 18 are very picturesque with the expansive view of the clubhouse with water in the middle. Definitely worth a visit to Prestwick. We had stayed at the Ocean Lakes Family Campground, which is owned by the same family. We had good experience there also and no complaints whatsoever. Good luck!

Top notch, look no further if you want a great track at a ridiculously reasonable price... should easily be over $100/round!!! Course was packed and they had groups going off both sides like a lot of courses down here... we were the first group off the back so under 2 hour on the front 9 as a 4 some. We get to the back and waited behind three groups teeing off and I have to be honest, I was thinking this is gonna be over a 3 hr 9. Bill and Paul the starters said no more than 2:15 and I shook my head in disbelief. Well low and behold, 2 hours and 10 minutes... yes I timed it!!! Kudos Prestwick Country Club !!!

Greens are terrible! Staff should tell customers they have aerated greens. The first we heard about it was from the starter on the first tee. Ive played the Prestwick many times & its a great layout. People like myself traveled a great distance & want an enjoyable experience. Played Caledonia the day before & it was wonderful.

I live here in Prestwic.I know the golf course like the back of my hand, and have been running around on it since I was young...lots of memories.I enjoy sitting on the grass early in the mourning as the sun rises, and I enjoy riding my bike on the cart path as the sun sets. The grass is lush and green for the majority of the year. The yellow pines girding most of the golf course are very beautiful.

By far the worst experience at any golf course I have been to. Honestly, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with any type of business. As a group of four we had one of the first tee times of the day. From what I observed all the groups to follow us were only groups of two. As a group of four, obviously we would take more time to play and we understood that and that’s why we allowed several groups to pass us without any complain. That was no problem at all we were there to enjoy a round of golf as a family. What was complete unacceptable was the rude starter who stalked and hassled us the entire time we were there. Shortly after starting our round the starter approached us for the first time stating “I’m sorry to tell you this, but other golfers are calling the pro store complaining about your pace. I can’t really say anything though, because y’all are within the time of play.” We stated we understood we were a group of four that had never played this course before and with two fairly inexperience golfers that were had no problem letting people pass us if they would like. We let the group behind us pass at this point. Not two holes later the starter approaches us again with the same statement as before. Again, we let people pass, but this time we let several groups pass. As we continued, if we saw a group was close to us we would let them play through as we didn’t want to hold them up. About the eight or ninth hole, the starter approached us again, but this time he became completely unacceptability rude and disrespectful. We had been playing for about 2 ½ hours, which I get is outside the timeframe of pace for this course, but we had let at least 5 groups pass at this point which slowed our pace down as well. The started made a comment about our pace and demanded we wait at the clubhouse after our ninth hole to let two more groups pass. Obviously, we had no problem doing this, but the way in which he spoke to us was totally disrespectful. He told me that he personally saw me tee off three times. This was untrue. I did tee off twice, because my first ball went into the water. Any golfer would have teed off again in this situation and has the right to do so. He stated “well you just need to drop your ball on the fairway and go.” We explained we had two newest golfers and he stuck his face out in my face and said “ma’am that’s not my problem.” This is where I lost it and couldn’t take anymore. I literally was almost in tears over the way he was talking to me. At this point my experience at this golf course was ruined. We complied with their request to stop at the clubhouse after the ninth house and waited twenty minutes for the next two groups to play through. As we continued to play we notice the starter following us, obviously he had been the entire time to be able to make comments about how many strokes we were taking. Surprisingly enough, the starter did approach us one last time. This time to apologize for his behavior. I apricated that this man recognized that he was wrong for the way he spoke to us, but that doesn’t make up for or excuse his behavior. I also recognize that the people in the pro shop that day were behind this as well. Obviously, this golf course only wants experienced golfers that want to play a quick round of golf. We were there to play, rest, and enjoy our time while on vacation. This is far from what actually occurred. I can honestly say I will never return here or recommend this golf course to anyone.

One of, if not the nicest places I’ve ever played in Myrtle Beach. Course was in fantastic shape, especially the greens. It was like putting on carpet. A Pete Dye design, with a couple holes near replicas of his TPC Sawgrass design. Several sets of tees for all levels. Course is a little tight, so you don’t want to be too far off the fairway. Overall, great experience. Shout out to the staff too. They were very nice and accommodating.

I played Prestwick on 9/2/18, and was treated to a great experience. The bag staff offered my guest a cooler full of ice for the water that he brought. They inside staff was smiling and happy to have us at the course. During the round we we often visited by the beverage cart, and saw the ranger who offered us cold towels and ice water on several occasions. Now how about the course. Prestwick is very demanding being a Dye design, and made even harder by the perfect greens, fairways and deep rough that protected this course on Sunday. Yes, it was great, a true test of golf. Thanks again to the staff at Prestwick, a must play 5 star!!

I played golf for the first time at Prestwick Country Club today, 5/13/19.Here is what I found good and NOT good:Good:1) Nice staff all around2) Excellent greensNOT good:1) Terrible tee boxes2) Marginal fairways3) Terrible bunkersI play alot of courses in the Myrtle Beach area and this course to me looks like it once was nice but is not being maintained now (except for the excellent greens). The green fee there is way too high for what you get. That is why the course was not busy during the busiest month of the year for golf in the area.My suggestions to the course management would be to improve the maintenance of the course (keep maintaining greens like now) and lower the green fees.

Beautiful course and fantastic greens! Course management is poor. We got the 1st tee time hoping to finish early and yet it still took us 5 + hours because when we made the turn we had 6 groups in front of us as they were teeing them off on the back. The group making the turn has priority but the rangers do not seem to understand that nor do they keep up with the pace of play which was slow for the amount if people there.. But again the course is in great shape.

Wow. What an absolute joke this place is! Im sure the course is nice but I never actually got to play. Here on vacation and called two days ahead to see if they had any early tee times available so I could go off by myself and zip around a quick 9 (family back at condo so didnt want it to be too long) . The young man that answered the phone said we have 7:19 and youll be the first off by yourself. Sounds great, see you Wednesday. Get there and go to the pro shop to pay and Im told they have a mechanical issue with one of the mowers and everything is delayed by 10 minutes. Ok, no problem. Those things happen! Go to putting green for a bit then over to the starter after being told I can go head over there and tee off. I get there and he says cant go off for another 10 minutes we have to wait on the rest of your foursome. Youre being paired up with 3 other people. I explained that wasnt what I was told and his response was, thats unusual . Our tee time finally arrives and still no group. He radios up to the clubhouse and asks if they are here. Then a bag boy comes riding up and says they are at the bar. Still wont let me tee off. Looks back and there is a man and a woman that look like they are in their 70s. He says, you can go off with them. At that point i just said, no thanks, Im out of here. Drive back to the clubhouse and the bag boy said, have a nice day. Went to the pro shop and told the man I needed a refund and he printed a receipt and said here ya go. No apology or anything. Unbelievable experience. You guys need to get it together. No one seemed to know what was going on and no one seemed to be able to tell the truth. Id give it zero stars if I could!

Great course and very nice staff. Ive golfed a large portion of the courses in Myrtle Beach, and somehow Prestwick had never been on that list. While staying in Ocean Lakes this summer I took advantage of discounted rates for Ocean Lakes guest, and Im glad I did. The course was very enjoyable and was in excellent condition even though the greens had just recently been punched. Staff is very courteous and informed us that there was no water on the course but made us aware of locations that we could get bottled waters out of coolers. Throughout the round we were greeted by the Marshall who asked if we needed anything and offered water. Beverage cart girl came around several times during the round with a decent selection and a very positive attitude. Im not so sure why I waited so long to play Prestwick, but it will definitely be a go to round each time Im at Ocean Lakes.

Yelling at patrons for simply wanting to drive the cart up to our vehicle to unload our bags but instead was forced to carry golf bags from cart location out into parking lot and given a story about how theyve had too many incidents with carts hitting vehicles.. really come on now there was only a hand full of vehicles in the lot that day.
