I reached out to MCHS regarding records of an old, now out of business Funeral home. The records are concerning a family member. They were prompt and extremely helpful!

Kudos to Kat! A particular colocurarism used in my childhood, Lincoln Park, NJ, had been nagging at me. Internet was no help. Kat found its source in no time. Thanks Kay!

July 2020. I have recently been in contact with Kat at Morris County Historical Society regarding the family tree and possible links to Morris and Middlesex Counties. Kat was extremely helpful and kind and provided all sorts of useful information and links that have given me much food for thought. I look forward to visiting the society one day, maybe my next visit to the USA . It is so very nice to receive such a helpful and friendly person to deal with especially in such difficult times when travel and visiting places of interest is not easy during these times. Best wishes and grateful thanks. Andrew Fletcher U.K.

Research Assistant Kurylko was very helpful in responding to my query, particularly in suggesting alternatives when your archives did not generate the desired information. John Geist

Very impressive. Honestly this mansion is better fitted and furnished then most of the historical houses I visited in London. Pleasantly surprised. Mostly original furniture, all set up with decor and some items of daily living.

I recently inherited many family photos dating from the 20s and 30s that indicated my grandfather and father lived in Montville, NJ in an old stone house. I had never seen these photos before and was instantly enchanted. So I called the Morris County Historical Society and struck gold when a research assistant named Kat listened patiently as I outlined my quest to learn more about the house. With slim data, within the same day (wow!!!) she provided me with links to multiple sources of information about the Effingham Low House. Her professionalism and unbelievably quick response deserves 6 stars, but I can only give her and the Historical Society 5! Thank you so much for the fine work you are doing to preserve the history of this fascinating area.

We had a wonderfully detailed tour of the home and families who owned the property. The special display of fashions from 1920 to 1970 was great. I hope the fashion design students from County College of Morris were encouraged to attend. The only problem encountered was even with GPS, it was difficult to locate the entrance. I would definitely go back.

Wonderful slice of history! They have an incredible textile collection from early America. Absolutely worth the visit! I would suggest calling ahead, as Amy and her team are actively working to improve the building for the future, and may have changes to the days tour hours. Amys energy is infectious and it was a pleasure spending time with her.

An authentic and outstanding Victorian home showcasing original furniture and decorations representative of early upper-middle class suburban life in Morris County. Lovingly cared for by the Morris County Historical Society, Acorn Hall is a treat for history buffs and those who love Victorian beauty. We were given an excellent tour by Nicole, the Curator of Exhibitions and Research. The breadth and depth of her knowledge and presentation was truly delightful. The grounds and gardens are also beautiful.

I was never there and I dont even know where this place is. For some reason unbeknownst to me, Google keeps asking me to rate the place.I must have driven past it once while Google was trolling me and watching my every move.

A remarkably good docent tour is available here. The manse is not a strong contender for best mansion in NJ, but the collection of housewares, furnishings, and furniture rivals anything you might find at Ballantine House in Newark. The pro tip here is take the tour, leave your car in the lot, and walk the Patriots Path. You get to the Arboretum in about forty minutes of lazy strolling.

Dont waste your time trying to go here. The house and parking lot was totally vacant of visitors. Went there today 11/12/17 and was told it was too late for a tour. She said a tour takes at least 45 minutes and the latest tour would have started at 3:15pm since they close at 4pm today. I showed her my phone that reflected it was only 3:09 and her response was we could come in but she would have to do a really rushed tour. The whole attitude was negitative like were invading her house. Definitely see why we were the only visitors attempting to visit. The outside of the house reflected a great deal of attention was paid to detail during construction however after many years of harsh weather the house is in desperate need of painting and repairs in order to save it for the future.
