This gallery is so much fun to shop in: there are so many beautiful items to choose from, and so many local and regional artists and artisans works represented here. The store itself is gorgeous made all the more so by the wonderful inventory. No matter how hard the person is to buy for, or no matter how lacking in ideas for gifts I am when I enter the Gallery, I am always inspired when pour over the variety of gift items and I never walk out without that special gift!. Yes, the quality and originality can cause some items to be on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for., and there is a wide range of prices to choose from. A MUST SEE!

Beautiful place to shop for items made by WV artists

Morgantown has a great scene for local artisan work and this shop has some good stuff, however I thought it was quite overpriced. There were several items I considered purchasing and didn’t because it was just too expensive. I understand that there is a benefit to the store being sold directly by the artist and there is an increase in cost for them, however I think the store isn’t as strong as the prices dictate.

I always find items that are unique and perfect for gift-giving or for personal delight. In a time of homogeneous stuff, it is wonderful to know that I can purchase art on a small or large scale for each friend. It is also a destination for friends who visit Morgantown for holidays.

The shopping experience at Appalachian Gallery is unmatched in Morgantown and beyond. The gallery is a pleasant combination of beautiful objects in a lovely space. Upon arrival, one enters a very grand, well maintained victorian home with lots of light, high cielings and large rooms that are well suited to appreciating art, and shopping. One finds a variety of local artists from the Morgantown area and greater West Virginia represented in the store. There is a great variety of artists products ranging from paintings, drawings and prints, to hand-crafted jewelry, glass, pottery and woodwork. The atmosphere of the shop is charged with creativity while it is also warm and inviting. I make a point to visit and purchase at Appalachian Gallery every time I am in Morgantown.For the same price one pays to mass retailers for home decor and jewelry, one can possess, enjoy, and share fine art and artisan-crafted objects from Appalachian Gallery. One gains the added satisfaction of supporting local economies and ecology by purchasing locally hand-crafted objects that are less prone to disposability than the offerings of mass retailers.In addition, I really appreciate how easy it is to park near the gallery. There are parking spaces by the gallery and a very convenient, inexpensive public parking garage directly across the the street from the gallery. Its much more pleasant than jockeying for a parking place at strip malls!
