I really like that they have free activities for the kids and get involved with helping the community. I like learning about history... And although I think they should have a little more about Native Americans and Little Less George Custer, its still a neat place to go. Very friendly staff, clean environment. I will definitely be back.
Always interesting. I would like to recommend it to anyone that feels like no where to turn.
Small vignettes, but still good, the lady that was there was very. INice
Amazing place to learn more about Monroe. Highly recommend, great exhibits and great staff.
Small but i had a good time. Geared towards the 1912 war
Kids loved the Nutcracker crafts, & the old fashion typewriter up stairs!
Always interesting. Loved the holiday trees.
I would like to recommend it to anyone that feels like no where to turn. Shes a great head doctor.
I love this place!! If youre into history and want to have a good time I would go here. They have different exhibits at different times of the year. They do a lot of free events. Staff is knowledgeable and courteous. Its a great little place for a spontaneous family adventure.
The museum is educational and there are a lot of interesting exhibits. However, its a little disappointing that theres a whole floor dedicated to General Custer. Yes, he was a historical figure. But a whole floor is a little much, considering he wasnt a very favorable historic figure.
Cool place lots of history
Local history of area & people. Exhibits: early Michigan, Custer, Veterans, Victoriana, First Americans, French Habitants. Free parking, free entry for Michigan residents/$5 non. Worth going!
Very nice local museum with interesting displays of area history and notable people like George Custer. Really enjoyed the time we spent there.
Custer! They could add some battle descriptions with maps and his individual positions highlighted. Local history is great too.
Very friendly helpful staff.
I would have given less if I could be more specific. The museum itself is amazing, but I recently encountered volunteers/ employees maybe ?? at the Lantern tour event on October 21st and they were very rude. We were wrapping up pictures and 6pm and were basically told to leave, your event didnt start until 7:50 pm and we were not in the way of your set up. Several other people were just as unfriendly. I thought this would be a nice event to attend until we were treated so poorly.
Love doing their events with the wife and kids. Have even invited neighbors to some of the events. Love the variety of things to do. We participated in chalk the sidewalks and rock painting. We LOVE that we can go even when broke because Monroe residents get in free. You can tell the folks that work there really enjoy being there.
Awesome General Custer artifacts
Archievists are always SUPER helpful!
Very nicely renovated and the displays are unique.
Fantastic I loved every minute of it and so did my great nephew Aj.
Half of the museum was closed for renovations. The displays we saw looked like they were made 30 years ago and not updated since. The museum could update everything to meet the standards of contemporary Museum design.
Helpful staff
Great place with knowledgeable and helpful staff. Lots of Custer related memorabilia. Great obit file for genealogist.
Good info on the past, Monroe, and Custer.
This is a must see for all history buffs.I love this museum. My family have visited there many times when in Monroe. There is a great Custer display with many original artifacts. On display are original civil war flag eagles. They are bronze and go on top of the battle flag poles, both union and confederate. All are original from the early 1860s.Monroe is a great small town with friendly people and nice restaurants. We always have a great time.
Went there for a steampunk event. Really neat museum.
