If youre passing Monroe Louisiana on 20 stop in and see this awesome museum. The films are top notch! The curator was wonderful and pleasant to my family. They have kids interactive section to play dress up and use flight controls and communication devices from ww2 up through desert storm. It is a must for the family and all the ladies working are a credit to the museum, and I salute you all! But dont forget to stop bye the gift shop which my child just couldnt decide what to get and the lapel pin on the way out is fit for any event. The family and I loved it!!!
We absolutely recommend the Museum if you have anywhere from an hour to all day to visit. The exhibits tell the military history of the United States through personal stories rich with photographs, letters, and memorabilia. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Admission is free. All the exhibits are compelling, but the WWII section has the widest range. It provides insights into fairly well-known units such as the Tuskegee Airmen, while revealing minor, obscure details such as aviation navigation aids used in Italy by my father (Captain Sol Courtman) as a B-24 navigator. The most poignant exhibit involved the death of a local soldier, Robert Jelly Duffy. PFC Duffy was killed in action on December 27, 1944 in Belgium on the last day of Third Armys (commanded by General George S. Patton) campaign to relieve Bastogne. Looking at the actual Western Union telegram informing his parents of the death of their 21-year-old son gives you a visceral sense of the sacrifices that so many Americans have made for our country. We are so thankful to the Museum, its staff, and its contributors for preserving these sacred memories.
Super staff! They know their stuff. Loved hearing all the stories behind the displays. They made sure we knew we could touch some of the items and try on certain things to take pictures. We will be back because we could not see everything in the time we had to visit
My son just recently studied about the different wars and visiting this awesome museum brought it all together. He really enjoyed hisself, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gifted my son a poster on Tuskegee airmen. There is much to see at the Chennault Museum. We absolutely loved it and we loved seeing the airplanes.
Chennault Aviation & Military Museum is a small institution, with antiquity of military and aviation knowledge, experience very proudly to share. Proudly to local all ethnic families involvement WarsDeliverance is awesome and I was very pleased to leave a nice Donation at the door.
One of the hidden treasures of Monroe. Everyone should visit the Chennault Aviation & Military Museum and the ULM Natural History Museum. The Chennault Museum has lots of donated items from local citizens who fought in the wars.
I wish we had more time! Cant wait to come back when we have more time! Kids loved it
Only spent a little time but great place and knowledgeable staff. I plan to come back more than once.
History, especially military history, is an often neglected topic in modern times. And even then, it rarely represents the personal stories of the men and women who took part in conflicts, relegating them behind dates, locations, and nations involved. The Chennault Aviation and Military Museum is a treasure trove of both historic pieces and the lives of the people behind them in the US Armed Forces throughout its history, with a particular emphasis on the Second World War, and the Flying Tigers expedition in China. Even if you dont have a particular interest in the military or history, it is a necessary stop to visit in Northern Louisiana.
We went in not expecting much. We were amazed by the amount in quality of exhibits, and the expertise of the staff. This museum is a hidden gem.
Many military museums focus on the weapons, innovations, and events that come with war. This museum does what I wish more did and dedicates the majority of its space to individuals who served and their stories.Their room on Chennault and his service in China during WWII is particularly interesting.
This place is amazing. So much history and the knowledge of the staff is awesome. If you ever get the chance to visit I strongly recommend it. You will be taken back in time with all the relics they have there. Great place and great people.
Awesome place and learn a lot of history
The musuem is small, but well stocked with great items and exhibits. Also, the information was both comprehensive and well-presented. Highly recommend bringing family here; theres a section of old Army gear that they can dress up in and take pictures!!
Awesome place I recommend going Im going to go again great history
Well worth a visit by all. We took a group of 7th and 8th graders from Dallas, TX to the museum in early March and it was a tremendous experience for everyone. Aircraft outside and the exhibits inside were all wonderful and well presented. The veterans on hand to talk to and answer questions from the students was an especially meaningful experience. Thanks for your service! Also, a special thanks to Mrs. Nell Calloway for taking the time to talk with our group.
Enjoyed the mini movie and great information. Wonderful history lesson about my birthplace.
Stunning collection of well maintained aircraft we dont see in New Zealand. This place is a must visit for any aviation enthusiast.
Our boys absolutely loved it, they were able to put on military gear and take pictures.
Very nice display of American history. All the staff were knowledgeable about the displays. The building & displays are clean & orderly. Air conditioning works really good. Good place to take young folks to learn about history.SFC. Stanley B. Sanders, Retired.
I actually wasnt there. On this particular day. I was in a wreck, a head-on collision. I was a passenger but thats another story. I am a veteran, though and I have patronized the museum before and I just love it. I highly recommend it.
Wonderful collection. Roy escorted us through several of the rooms and shared his vast knowledge of war history, and explained many of the displays. Please visit this museum and support it.
Great little museum. Friendly people and a pretty good history lesson. Features things from local people and people who served and trained there.

It was really laying going through the military eras!
Very nice staff. Great exhibits. Very interesting, very informative. A lot to see and do
Really suprising how big this place is. For basically a free museum it has lots of interesting things and information from the past wars. They do ask to contribute whatever you like but drop a twenty and you would feel you got the advantage. Lots of things to look at and observe and read while there. Only got to spend about an hour and a half but you could spend all day there looking at everything. Would definitely go back if Im back in town.
Best place I ever been to, and found out my great great grandfather was a general
Absolutely love it. My kids had an amazing time and want to go back often.
I had a really good time here. Very well done. One area for improvement is the library. If it is private, the door shouldn’t be open with the lights on. Made me feel uncomfortable to be asked to leave. Looks like part of the exhibit.
Very interesting place to gisit
Amazing artifacts, incredible how much is in there!
This place is just cool. Lots of local military history and there are vets of all ages around to tell you stories. We loved it.

I am retired Air Force, so, I thought I knew about Claire Chennault. Had no idea. The people at this museum were well informed and very personable. Enjoyed the museum immensely. Highly recommend it.
Free fun for the history buff. The staff is awesome. My son has gotten into WW2 recently and we took him there. On our next visit back to the area one of the places he wanted to go was here. The staff treats him like a king even getting out items that they normally do mot have on display. Highly recommended.
Very enjoyable and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We visit quite often.

We went to this museum because West Monroe was also the birthplace of Delta Airlines and my wife was a Delta flight attendant many years ago. We were told that this museum included some of the history of the founding of Delta by a couple of crop dusters from West Monroe.
