Such a great view an scenery with nice walk along the Mississippi river. Of you go far enough theres a cave with a water fall. We havent checked that out yet but we will keep you posted about it very soon.
Really nice park. Walked along the St Paul side. They could use a little work with the bike and walking path seeming to be shared in some areas. There are paths that can lead you down towards the river that area really nice for hiking and make you feel secluded. We even saw an owl just sitting in the middle of the path near the river. Overall, another nice park to visit in the Twin Cities.
Fun place to walk my dogs looking over the Mississippi river. Old dirt trails & new paved walking/running & bike path. Kinda steep cliff edges on dirt trails but fences up on some sections. Beautiful views. There is a small parking lot but never been short of parking.
Simply gorge-ous scenery! This is a true natural refuge in the midst of a major metropolitan area. I feel so lucky to live near this well maintained park.
Beautiful area to hike, bike or just chill outside away from the insanity of the Novel Coronavirus, Masks, Politics, and the rest of it. Highly recommended. Do yourself a favor!
Find your own path plus follow the trail. Amazing in Minneapolis a huge city to have such awesome trails.
Just went shortly after work and it was great, oak savanna, big tube thing in the middle of a gorge
All year long this trail is a amazing. Each new season brings post card perfect pictures.
Stunning views, quiet unpaved (!!) trails, and all sorts of terrain. Quite steep, be prepared to use your hands to climb down the trail if you take the quick route down-- and it gets muddy and slippery after rain, so use caution.
A very popular riverfront park in the heart of the city, and if part of the trail werent paved youd swear you were out in the wilderness. Those who are bolder and in good shape can go deeper into the wild on natural dirt trails, the lowest of which is only suitable for rugged hikers. In the autumn the trees along the river are brilliant golds and reds with inviting frequent photo ops. Known to the locals, we live farther away and werent aware of how much we were missing even though we drive the river road frequently. We will definitely be going back.
Nice river bank view with fall colors. Go for a walk!
Beautiful secluded oasis of nature - if you need a serene walk or picnic on the beach, this is your place. East facing riverbank so dont even see a skyline :).
Hike the Winchell Trail which runs along the west side of the Mississippi River between Franklin Avenue and 44th Street.
Great trail. In many places its only wide enough for one person to walk or jog, so youre very close to the forest but not a great place for a group hike.
A nice place to go to see the Mighty Mississippi. I always drive this way if I have the chance. Im a scenic route kind of person and stop periodically at one of the many overlooks to breathe. City life can be hectic, so its a nice reprieve.
Happy that the park is available during covid.
Fun trails to walk with some cool spots along the river
Beautiful and not busy
Badass
Beautiful park! The path that goes through the woods is slightly lower than the paved running/biking trail along the road. The path is absolutely gorgeous and partially paved. There were a number of people on the path when I went, but it never felt crowded or overwhelming. Easy trail accessible for a variety of fitness levels.
Very peaceful! Collected some Good Medicine! Aho!
I get to live in a major metro area and have *this* in my backyard?
Awesome trail that connects to the several biking/walking trails in Minneapolis. It has some beautiful views along the southwest ridge along the Mississippi in downtown Minneapolis. Gorgeous natural trees and river views. Great visit in the fall too. The park itself is a little small but the gorge is awesome.
Amazing beautiful gorgeous beautiful....will be back ...visiting from los angeles
Nice park feels like you are not in the city
Youll never see leaves this yellow in your life! Such a beautiful part of the city with wonderful trails and views of the river.
Very cool, wooded, hiking area along the west bank of the Mississippi alongside the Longfellow neghiborhood.
This is honestly one of the reasons I have recently fallen more in love with the Twin Cities. The gorge is so accessible, so fun to take a stroll along, and the views are amazing. Go now!
I love being able to take a walk in nature in the middle of the city!
An excellent spot for locals but please dont go here if you arent from the area.
Great walking by big ol Mississippi but good fishing as well
Beautiful I loved taking a river scooter ride!
Great place to start a bike ride near the Mississippi
Mississippi Gorge could be a great park if the city did a better job keeping it clean, controlling erosion, and removing invasive species of plants. Often a dumping ground for large unwanted items and a homeless encampment, raw sewage was flowing only a couple of years ago into the gorge from the neighborhood. Considerable effort by local volunteers has improved the native species of plants, but buckthorn can still be encountered on slopes. The annual Earth Day cleanup organized by Friends of the Mississippi River has become essential spring cleaning for its upkeep. The river is not really accessible as it should be to connect with environment.
Such pristine beauty.
Nice place to bike, hike, have a picnic.
Footpaths, not designated trails. Steep climbs at times. Good for the agile hiker. Accidentally stumbled upon the sewer system. Stinky
Enjoyed the scenery.
Just down a trail a bit and it feels like another world. A little clump of oak savanna in the middle of the city.
Very pretty and good for hiking but it honestly smells pretty bad
Safe and well-made paths with beautiful views. Very clean too.
Quiet, peaceful, and friendly citizens enjoying the park too
Beautiful area in the summer, but dont bother going there in the winter.
Never ending biking so much to explore.
What a beautiful place in the fall time the train stuff but not too bad lots of fun lots of it cant wait to go back
Perfect park to walk in, exercise in, sit in, and so forth. The neighborhood is quiet and upscale. There are cloistered trails to explore through the woods and down to the water.
Nice little nook and usually no one is there.
Wonderful park to have access to right in the city. In some parts you can go off the paved trail to take dirt trails that go right along the river. They can be steep and a bit treacherous in places, especially after it has rained, so be careful.
Very pretty and easy walk
Great place for a walk that doesnt feel like the city.
Very nice trail, though primarily paved. Do yourself a favor and drop a map pin on your starting point or get a proper GPS watch so your 1.5 hour run doesnt turn into a 2+ run, trying to find your car.
Beautiful fall colors
The fall colors here are spectacular. Trails are narrow but not dangerous. Views of the river are abundant. My family takes fall pictures here every year.
I came here as part of a volunteering effort to clean. Many volunteers showed up, too many in fact that there was little trash to collect.Overall Im happy to say Minnesotans are taking care of natureNice walk!
Currently the non paved trails are extremely muddy.... before this weekends rain even. Cant imagine them now.
My kids and I hike through the woods here regularly. There is plenty of space to explore the forest, river and rocks. Unfortunately, you will find plenty of trash from lots of evening gatherings and camping. Still, a lovely and easily accessible green space.
No markings on any trails. Itd be nice if the City would mark the official trails
Fall colors everywhere!
It is a slice of country peace & beauty in the middle of the cities.
Great Beach for fishing and dogs to go swimming. Everyone can enjoy some quiet time. I think this would be an ideal nude beach. If we could put up a sign to earn others.
Beautiful place, with little trails going around the forest.
Nice & simple. Easily accessable and walkable with fair views along the Mississippi.
A fun. Awsome place to go and relax to yourself or with someone who is special to you
Wilderness in the city.
Quiet but not a lot of great views.
It smells bad by the river
Very quite place for late summer walk.
A great experience in nature. And a place to stop and get water. One of my favorite spots in the entire Twin Cities.
Nice walking path and amazing views
Beautiful area to walk trails and enjoy the scenery.
Surprisingly secluded area right by the U campus. Tons of mosquitos though.
Its really beautiful down by the river
Beautiful tree covered pathways.
Gorgeous views over the river and easily accessible to walk, run, bike, ski.
Great bike riding trails all year long!
I grew up hiking here. Still as beautiful as ever
Great place to enjoy the beautiful outdoor Minnesota wonders.
Always a good walk. A bit more flooded then usual (spring 19), so some paths are inaccessible.
Secluded oaisis. What a gem.
Nice place to walk around
One of the best kept secrets of Minneapolis
Great place to get thoughts together
Had a great time
AMAZING. The crazy thing about this park is that it is like wilderness but it is in the middle of a city. If you like trail running or hiking and you live nearby, just go here. You will find trails.
Beautiful, quiet, stunning view in the middle of the Twin Cities.
Nice shady walking trails along the river
Very quite and relaxing area
Peaceful hiking trails right in the city!
Great place to walk the trails and pathways might bee a good spot to fish along the river.
Wonderful park but so very hard to find and get into !Great option for inner city kids to play football but grounds need attention...true of all mpls parks!
Historic and gorgeous Mississippi River offers breathtaking views.
Beautiful trails & hideout spots
Great trails to walk on but its better by bike.
I love this place a great place to walk n relax.
So peaceful and relaxing
A great place to dance the sun up every may 1st
