Good park with a boat dock for launching boats, kayaks, canoes, into the Mississippi River. This is a pay lot. There are picnic areas. Mostly just wide open park space with views of the river. B.F. Nelson park is adjacent as well as access to Nicollet Island, DeLaSalle High School. Good alternate for watching fireworks. Plenty of runners, walkers, dogs, bicyclists, going through here as well.
Arguably the best park in Minneapolis for views and close to people and fun. Easily accessible and always beautiful. Fun areas to explore by the railroad tracks. A play ground that looks bomb, I always like a good sand pit the river is a looker from here and tends to be less busy than stone arch and there is actually space to run and play. The summer actually brings quite a bit of wild life such as birds and butterflies. Also I have taken wedding pictures here that turned out pretty bomb. And had my fair share of bbqs.
Wonderful park over looking minneapolis skyline. Lots going on usually but beautiful view.
It was cold with a brisk south wind.I built a fire to keep warm.
The memorial is very nice . park is a very good place to exercise and or enjoy a good walk or kayaking
Go at night its beautiful and if it dark oh boy she will love it
Ive been coming here more often during my bike rides! Gorgeous and clean green space to relax. Always good people around.
Beautiful view of the Mississippi. A few hidden and shady places by the river to have a nice and semi-private lunch date
Great access to the Mississippi River, and lots of room for dogs and picnics.
The view on the metropolitan area of the city is fantastic. The contrast between calm park and urban downtown is refreshing. Parking is not expensive
Since COVID-19, Boom Island should be called bumpin island! There are multiple yoga (or other fitness) classes going on, Spikeball league, a large group of hula hoop-ers, and dates and socially distanced groups galore! Its a huge open space, so I always feel comfortable/safe, its right along the river and bike paths, near a handful of breweries if your date is going particularly well, and I has easily one of the best views of the city skyline. Love love love this park - if youve never been youve GOTTA check it out!
Great stop for a wi dy walk
Lovely open with pay parking and flush toilets. Bike and car accessible from Plymouth Bridge
Great area for the views and walking/running/biking/boating
Nice walking trails and green space in the city.
This is a beautiful area. The trails are well maintained and clean. There is plenty of area to enjoy. Parking is a bit of a mess, but Id prefer that to more parking and less park.
The best and most scenic park in NE Minneapolis for visiting. Ample access from all forms of transportation and excellent foot/bike connections with many interesting places including Nicollet Island and both sides of the River Parkway. While not as condusive of group activities like sports in our neighborhood parks, Boom island serves its purpose in providing beautiful views, walks, nature, and picnicking.
Great city views, grills with covered dining areas bike/walking, trails, access to the water taxi
One of my favorite spots on the River, took the kids there today and they absolutely loved it!
Beautiful place for an evening walk. Great river and city views.
Nice park trails along the Mississippi.
Great park for walking or picnicking. Its on the bike trails, so I think its a perfect spot for a mid-ride picnick. Good shelters!
Beautiful Walking Trails & at Night Beautiful View of the Downtown Skyline.
Its ok. The river is industrial on this stretch, not as pretty as other stretches of the river. Park is popular, i thought it was just ok. Boat launch is pretty cool. They have boat slips to you can park your car and come back grab your boat. I went up to 694 but there are very shallow areas, be very careful, i was in a special jet boat built for shallow rivers, a boat with a prop would get destroyed of you dont know where youre going.
This park is great for any event or just for a nice walk and beautiful scenery.
This park is clean and has nice views of the downtown skyline. I liked walking near the river and the parking is paid parking but like $1/hr.
Beautiful location. Nature right next to downtown Minneapolis.
Nice view of the river and downtown.
A lovely park with wide open space, trails, pavilions... When I lived in the area nearby, I’d run here all the time.
Beautiful! Wide open space to picnic or play games with friends
Celebrating the beautiful day at Boom Island Park, picnicking with my best friend - socially distanced, of course. This is one of my favorite places in the Twin Cities.
Beautiful park. Open fields with skyline views. Trails along the river.
Beautiful park with great views of the Minneapolis skyline. Super photo backdrop! Walking trails along the Mississippi River, it’s pretty and peaceful.
Perfect for leisurely walks with beautiful views of downtown.
Beautiful. Highly recommended but only at the summer or fall
Great city park with awesome views of the Mississippi River and cityscape!
Super great open space for events not a lot of pavilions but fantastic path and open field for picnics and events
A quick walk from downtown or the Northeast business district. Wide open green space with paved trails, great for walking, biking, etc. Cool view of the Minneapolis skyline. Be sure to take the trails over to Nicollet island to see some historic homes and the graffiti art near the railroad tracks.
Beautiful area, parking is paid though. Wonderful outdoor views.
We went canoeing on the Mississippi River it was awesome and fun they have boat rental and if you want a guide you can arrange for them to help on your trip, there is a resting place that is a bar and grill an if you got a life jacket you’ll get a discount on your food Thursday night there are a group called the river rats that do water boating and skiing jumps an cool trickster moves on the river an even a seating area for onlookers people in the city’s always think gross the Mississippi River, but when your up close an on it there is truly nothing wrong with it it’s a beautiful place and lots of family fun. Highly recommended for everyone to enjoy this summer, I also recommend a guided tour of the inexperienced people.
Nice spot to chillax, read a book, picnic and watch the sunset!
Launched the boat off Boom Island for the Fourth this year. Best fireworks display ever!
This park has some of the best views in the city.
Lovely place to take pictures. In the heart of Saint Paul/ Twin Cities. Lots of people love coming by to take nice photos of the cities
Great place to grill and enjoy the Minneapolis scenery, including the downtown skyline!
Great park with a Mpls skyline view. Lots of green space. You will occasionally see wildlife.
Giant open space that has a great view of the downtown skyline. Clean, never too busy with multiple gazebos.
It was very spacious and peaceful at least while i was there
Riding bike downtown and came across this park. Good place to rest after biking for a while. Beautiful view of MSP skyline.
Very nice park for children and picnic
Great views of downtown!
A great place when empty or full. A great path along the river and space to roam.
Big park by the river with a gorgeous view of Minneapolis. Great place for large events like the Currents Rock The Garden!
1 of the many attractively groomed parks in the Minneapolis, ST Paul area.
Amazing views of the Minneapolis skyline, good walking trails.
For the longest time I did not know his pro existed. Now that I do I have to say it is one of my favorites. The views of downtown Minneapolis are second to none and this is a perfect place for a summer picnic.Pro tip, leaving from this lark on bike or in a car you have quick and easy access to the really pretty roads running along the river. It is really nice to do.
Beautiful large area. Got married in this park.
The company I work for rented the park and we had a great time. I found the location easy to find when using Google maps unlike other big parks where you dont really know where to go. The view at boom island was gorgeous and its by the river so you can see that as well. Im hoping the rent it out again next year.
Boat launch is not passable. They stopped dredging it. I found out when I hit the sand bar. Its totally filled in. Bummer. A 10 foot fishing boat with a 5 horse could float by, thats it.
Great place for running or walking, or just lounging in the grass reading a book. The river view is relaxing and there are great seats along the river to sit and enjoy the view. Spotted a few people fishing there, so guess thats an option as well. Very dog friendly place, and good for picnics as well. Parking is available at many points, and is cheap. If you drive around a bit you can find some free street parking and walk up to the park.
Like the park but parking should be free not $1.00 per hour that is wrong for a public park!
Ya good park good running.
Beautiful park by Mississippi River with downtown Minneapolis view
Nice, very clean and well maintained park. Nice, all access porta-john. Good trees.
Cool green space within the city! Awesome views!
Wide open space on the water
Great place to fly kites. Excellent view of the city, while walking along the river.
Boom Island park is a pretty cool location. I had no idea it existed before i visited it yesterday, but it is a really nice park with all the facilities you would expect. Public bathrooms, water fountains, shelters and grills, and a waterfront. If you are looking for a solid place for a get together or a game of Frisbee this is a good spot!
Ive been coming here since I was a kid. I like bringing my old school here and taking the Mpls Water Taxi around
Great view of the city scape!
Great views of the river and mpls skyline
A beautiful place with a lighthouse!
Lots of folks were unfamiliar with the parking payment system or the app. Needs to be more user friendly. With the exception of the rain today Boom Island is always a nice place to be. Beautiful skyline and sometimes impromptu activities.
Great place. Just make sure to pay or the park cops will get you.I dont know why this is considered a different park from BF Nelson but whatever.Has a boat run. This is where the kayak rentals are dropped off.Its weird because the park is also across the street where they have actually recreated Boom Island. Grassland and rocky beach. Aint bad.
Amazing park with fantastic views of the city. The playground equipment is old, but in relatively good shape. A couple things need fixing. One swing set is missing swings and one piece of equipment is currently just stairs with a boarded off section where something else used to be.The only other downside is pay parking and, to be fair, the rates are reasonable.
I got engaged here
A must destination point for Mississippi River trail lovers, on or off the river. If on out Mlps Water Taxi for river service.
Such a beautiful, clean and peaceful part of Minneapolis.
Nice sized park off the river. Typically not too crowded either!
Great place to see the city of Minneapolis. There is a small lighthouse there which is beat to see.
One of the best parks located directly next to minneapolis, lots of room to play, great for familys huge and small a playground a cool Lil bridge a boat launch for fun on the Mississippi, just hands down a very chill place to hang out or take a walk. 5 star
This is an awesome place to hangout. Wonderful view of the Minneapolis skyline!
Walk, bike or fish you gotta love this place
My favorite park in Minneapolis
Beautiful park and surrounding area.
I had amazing time!
Nice place for a picnic
Very nice park with some great walkways and nice view of the river. A great view of downtown Minneapolis at night was also pretty cool.
You can step right up to the river, and it has great views of downtown & the riverfront, and big open spaces to play in. Im eternally surprised its never a very busy place - but also know people how lots of other great park options, as well. One of my favorite places in the city.
