Was here for T-ball for the weans, and the playground is great. Could use a little TLC, but my 5 year old was running from one set of equipment to another saying, Wow! This is amazing! This is the best! The rec center looked pretty small, but it was about the cleanest facility Id seen, seemed well cared for.
This was a perfect place to hold a wedding shower for my daughter. The view out the windows looking over Lake Hiawatha made for a beautiful backdrop, even though the weather was terrible. We had all the tables and chairs we needed and all worked out very well. The only drawback was having a long walk from the street to carry all our supplies. Despite that, I would definitely recommend this locale for hosting an event.
Its such a tiny building! As a mom of two not yet in school this is my take. With such a great preschool and summer camp (and other programming), Im shocked that when they updated this building that they did not make it bigger (especially for the winter programming). Were paying more in this neighborhood for less than our old neighborhood. But I do want to reiterate, they do have a wonderful summer camp and preschool (alongside many other programs) ... Which is why Im so disappointed in the size of the building. It wouldnt be a big deal if we lived in a warmer climate, but with how popular this recreation center is, Im disappointed in the lack of space available. (There are around 16 kids packed into a room the size of my apartment kitchen. And right off the lake, its too cold to have them outside in the winter ... So, large motor activity -essential at the preschool ages- is limited).Maybe the new MPRB park plan for Hiawatha Park could include an expansion of the building?
Its an Amazing lake view...
