Great Place, fun Experience. My wife and I attended a class last weekend and had a fantastic time. If you or anyone you know are looking for a fun educational experience this is it! Cant wait to take another glass class!
We enjoyed our class. Friendly instructor, with helpful info. It was fun and educational. Our first time working with glass. We werent great at it. Still had something to bring home.We had fun and want to return. Many different projects that have our interest.
My daughter and I took a class here and had a really great time. Malcom is a great teacher and by the end we were building confidence with our skills. A++
Loved this class!! I took the kiln formed glass class. It was the first time I’ve worked with glass. Large studio to work in with all the supplies and an excellent instructor!!! The time allotted for the class was perfect. I had lots of time to create a fabulous piece. Bring a friend and share the experience! I look forward to more classes!
My adult daughter and I took a try-it class together. It was a fun, memorable experience! My daughter is a graphic designer, so her art skills are at a much higher level than mine, but since neither of us had worked in glass before, it was a new experience for both of us. We will definitely go back. I also have a nephew who is a professional glass blower and he speaks fondly of his beginner experiences at Potekglass.
I CAN do art! My pieces arent perfect, but they are pretty. I took this Basics of Boron class with my sister and my niece (my nieces choice, and she is 10)Malcom made it easy for us all to be successful making our treasures! His instruction was great, show and then do. He explained and demonstrated every step we were going to take and then he walked around to help and offer advice and encouragement after we got started. We never felt like we were left to fend for ourselves. We had a great time and we all want to come back for more.WE CREATED ART!Thanks Potekglass~ we will be seeing you soon!
Im giving 5 stars because I visited Potekglass in the newly renovated Flux Arts building for the first time; it looked like a creative, inspiring place to make art glass. I met the owner and now I am excited to return to take some glass-making classes. They are still building-out their new space and getting settled, but what they have already finished is very impressive. Most of the space is workshop but there is a gallery area up front to showcase finished art.I was there during an open torch session when various artists were working on their own in an open studio format. For a fee, users have access to a glass-working torch station, fuel, safety equipment (including a ventilation system,) annealing kilns, etc.I highly recommend you visit Potekglass sometime and see what they are all about.
I definitely recommend Potek Glass classes. I brought my 3 kids in for a work shop and the kids had a blast. Malcolm was great with the kids. He had a good mix of patience and focus to keep them on track! My kids are 6, 4, and 2. Piece of cake!!
We took the Basics from Boron class here. Malcolm was a great, easy-going instructor who adapted to each persons needs and made the experience both safe and fun. We went in having never worked with glass before, but came out feeling like we had enough of the basics to come into one of their open sessions to play around and come up with some of our own glass creations. Lots of fun. Highly recommended.
I enjoy creating but have never had the opportunity to do so in glass. And this is not the typical glass-blowing that you might expect and think impossible to do. I finally took the opportunity and thoroughly enjoyed the kiln-formed glass pendant class. Check it out and see for yourself.
We had an absolutely wonderful time with Malcom . It was fun and educational and he made it very safe for us. Everything was prepared perfectly and he helped us bring our creativity out. It was my nephews birthday gift and he totally enjoyed the whole experience!
A friend and I attended the Basics from Boron class and absolutely LOVED IT!!! Te instructor was patient, knowledgeable and funny too! Learned a lot about the techniques of working with glass and proper handling and use of tools and heat to create fun items!!!
Several years ago I brought my daughter over to an introductory course at Potekglass. Safety is stressed, as well it should be. The course was both challenging and fun, and we had a wonderful time.We would like to return at some point.
I had a great time in class and cannot wait to take another. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Price is reasonable.
A great place to learn lamp working! A hobby to take you well into retirement! Easy going, stress free, challenging and the outcome is beautiful!
Malcolm is very knowledgeable and willing to share his passion for glass. Class was a great experience. Ill go again.
This experience was so much fun. I love trying new things and this was so enjoyable and different from other dates my husband and I have been taking.
This is a wonderful place to learn how to work with glass, either fused glass, or my favorite, torchwork. Malcom is a great teacher, with infinite patience and an ability to impart his considerable knowledge with humor and clarity. The studio is a comfortable space, lots of big windows for light and air-conditioning to stay cool. I attend the three monthly Open Torch sessions and they are my favorite events of the month!
We have been twice and have loved the experience! A wonderful time to try something new and our instructor was patient and knowledgeable!
Not only is Malcom a patient and effective teacher, hes a consumate organizer. Every aspect of our class was considered, even the time it took 8 people to get up the elevator at the old location. Everything Ive ordered from him has arrived in a couple days. All this, plus insightful creativity in his work.
I love this studio, but they are moving and I have not been to the new space yet. The owner is great at teaching the classes and is very friendly. He does a great job explaining the ifs and whys of the processes and it’s a great way to get to experience the different options for working with glass. I would strongly suggest doing their try it classes because everything is included and he walks you through all the processes.
Three of us did the try it class today for basics with boron. We all learned so much about manipulating glass using a torch. Malcom is a great teacher and this class covered a lot of skills in the time we had. We learned about the torch and gathering glass and did some blowing and sculpting. His teaching style of watching him and then us doing it helped us repeat the steps each time with starting the torch up and shutting it down. Great job Malcom we will be back!
The ppl were great, and the only place I can find 104coe glass Nearby.
Ive been going to Potek Glass for several months now and have learned a lot. The instructors and staff are very knowledgeable and approachable.Ive worked with both Malcom and Julie, and both will focus on teaching a new glassworker safety and technique, and then allow the students to learn by doing, resulting in a casual, no-pressure feel to the classes.I highly recommend it.
Had three different family holiday classes . Age from 9-75 . All had a good time .
Beautiful space - highly creative staff - love the variety of classes.
Great class. Knowledgeable instructor and able to teach.
Went with my sister for a night out and we had a great time.
Took a Boro class and it was fantastic! So thankful for Potekglass and Malcolm!!!
This old building is really cool. We took a glass class here that was really fun!
We had 4 of us in our group, everyone had a blast and I love how they turned out. We did the fusion class.
What a great beginners boron class! Fun, clear instruction. Julie is a very good teacher.
Fun class, great studio.
Awesome experience. Mary was a great teacher! If we didnt live so far away we would love to take more classes.Tried this as a groupon. Was worth every penny if full price.
Great space and super friendly staff. Will be going back for sure! If you want to try blowing glass, making Italian soft glass or anything else the offer check them out!
This was a HORRIBLE experience. For starters, thought I would need to change the date as I did not have my son. Was told there would be a $37.50 charge to change-excessive in my opinion as it was almost as much as the groupon! Thankfully his father agreed to let him come-well not sure if I am thankful after how the two of us were treated! Where do I start....There were 10 people, a table for 8 and then another table for 2 where you could not really see what Mary was doing as she sat at the head of that table. My son (13) and I got put at the table away from the others, where we could not see. The instructor Mary treated both of us just terribly. Keep in mind, this is a starter class, neither of us had ever done anything like this! Mary was VERY short on patience, she gave 10 step instructions, none of which were written down. She was helping the table of 8 while our calls for help were blatantly ignored. Not only that, she would mutter under her breath in disgust when she did have to come over to help. Our questions were no different than those at the main table with her. Then, one of the people in the class got his stuff done and wanted to purchase some glass-while my son had questions she was worried about ringing up this sale etc....instead of helping. Because of this, my sons piece was ruined-she did not get there in time. She COULD have given the man the glass, and charged him after. The piece was only $4.00! (Other people had questions while she was ringing up this sale, she went to them first!) The class was very stressful, it should have been fun and relaxing. Each time we asked for help-it was delayed. She was too busy helping those at her table of 8. Then, at the end of the class she started to make a piece for herself while my son was on his last piece-because she was doing this she could not stop to help my son. Really...why the need to make something for herself, shouldnt she have seen to the class?!To me, the class was over sold-10 seemed to be too many people for this woman. Not only that, was unfair that we could not see. Now lets get to the paper weight. This was the size of barely a quarter and would not even hold a receipt! As were the other two things we made-this should have been in the description that this would not be a functioning paperweight-class is merely an introduction on what you could make with an advance class. My son was almost afraid to ask for help because of how rude Mary was. Muttering nasty things under her breath for us to hear was so UNPROFESSIONAL! This was an intro class, one would think that there will be people there with no experience!!!!!! There was absolutely NO PATIENCE!!!!!! I had to explain to my son that her behavior had NOTHING to do with him and that she was inappropriate in her behavior. Part of me wanted to get up and leave but I did not want to deprive him of this half ass run class. On the positive side, it gave my son an intro to this type of art. We just will not be coming back to this studio! I would not recommend this class, I am disappointed that something that should have been fun was stressful and very costly for the two of us!!! I am not so much disappointed in what we made-my biggest disgust was how we were treated. SHAME ON YOU for your abusive behavior!!!!! I paid almost $100.00 to be treated like this?!
Did a Groupon glass blead class and it was amazing!
I had a Groupon for a glass fusing class here. The instructor was knowledgeable, helpful and fun. I think Ive got the bug.
We had so much fun and Malcolm is a great teacher
Small classes. Excellent patient staff.
Excellent class, I cant wait to take another one!!!
Easy outgoing staff. Very knowledgeable and helpful
Fun Class!
Great place to learn how to create with glass
