Great place for my walks and love the scenery. Very well kept forest and trails are regularly maintained.
I have lived in Milwaukee my entire life and never knew of this place. How can that be? This state park/forest is an absolute treasure. I am now encouraged to visit all of the Milwaukee parks to see all of what ive been missing. Havenwoods has made its mark on us as the go to spot for family hikes.
Ill be there every Saturday rainshine snow thats what me and my dog get together at I love it
Easy city access to see goldfinches, flickers, hawks, vultures, jays and others feeding for winter. Well- marked trails have mature trees for shade. You get a big dose of the natural world very close to home. In the spring I saw a coyote, indigo buntings, bluebirds, song sparrows, kingbirds, catbirds and meadowlarks.
What a gem to have a state forest within the city limits. Good hiking.
Beautiful area to walk, relax and enjoy the scenery in the city. My walk was breathtaking and rejuvenating. Its a great place to bring the family for an outing. Theres even a great play area for the younger children. Loved it...
Very well maintained and empty on a weekend day. Nice shorter hikes
A gem in the middle of North West Milwaukee. Dont let the name fool you. There isnt a lot of forest there! It is a well conceived reclamation in order to prevent urban flooding with 3(?) large ponds and wetlands within mainly a planted prairie. It has several paths you can take for nice walk/hikes that are all quite flat. There are areas of mud along the paths after a rain so wear appropriate shoes! Areas to picnic.
You almost done realize that youre still in Milwaukee city limits. Lots of nature.
Took a family walk through this forest & enjoyed the scenery. Will definitely be coming back again.
This place is more isolated than the other parks in Milwaukee. Its a great place to go if you want to get out of the city, while still in the city.
Nice paths. City escape.Hidden gem
It was interesting. My son asked would I chaperone for his field trip. My anxiety level was up a little. I dont do bugs seen a dead snake and one of the other parent said she seen a live one so Im really freaking out. I did it for my son because I LOVE HIM SO VERY MUCH didnt want to disappoint him. #PROUDMOM
Nice place to take a walk.
Beautiful! Truly a hidden gem for Milwaukee
Wonderful place just outside of the city for a walk. The air is fresh, the birds are plentiful, and on a nice day nothing is better.
A little slice of heaven located in the middle of the city. The trails are well maintained and the boardwalk on the pond is a nice touch to connect to nature and gain a different perspective
Great hiking experience! Even with the snow and ice I had a great hike .
Dispite some tiny HAIL the lady gave a nice walking talk @ edible plants throughout the park.
I wouldnt have not imagined a better place in December to walk and enjoy the nature. The trail is well paved. With a pair of good shoes you would enjoy the most out it.
Beautiful escape in the city.
Such a great park on the Northside of MKE. Love it.
Nice place to walk in nature
Great park & very well maintained trails. Lots of different landscapes and animals to be seen.
Mr Andy is so great with the kids! We enjoy Nature Time!! Its one of our favorite places to be!
Easy walk for young kiddos
Beautiful scenic wooded area in middle of the city
Wow never knew it was right there.
Beautiful place!
This is a beautifully reclaimed slice of nature within the city. There is a great nature center, but it is usually closed on Sundays. There are a number of paths throughout the park, and its really neat to see how nature can take over a place if the right conditions are set up. There are a few ponds within the park that retain and purify the water in Lincoln creek, which is really cool, and its a great place to see birds and other wildlife without having to leave Milwaukee. The paths are mostly flat, yet, you really feel like you are out of the city.
Hidden gem in the city.
I love this place its very special for me i made love in the woods
Excellent hike, close to the city. The snow is beautiful.
Go here again and again. The trails are great. Saturday we saw a deer running along the railroad tracks and one following him. We watched them take off into a field joining other deer. Saw muskrats playing in a creek. Always so many birds. In October we watched salmon working their way up Lincoln Creek. Awesome!
A secret forest in the middle of town. A great escape from the city for a 15 minute break or a few hours of strolling around.
Nice clean atmosphere. It was not a lot of traffic when i visited. It kinda almost looks deserted until someone else walks in before you. It reminds me of a scene from a horror movie.
It may be in the middle of the city, but it feels like the remote wilderness, in the best sense of that term. Well maintained trails, different types of wilderness (woods, Marsh, prairie, small pond) and free parking make it one of the gems of Milwaukee.
A hidden gem of Milwaukee. Beautiful!
Excellent walking and hiking trails, plenty of fatbike grass to ride on
Love the well maintained trails and all the wildlife you can see in the middle of an urban area.
Had great time
Great place for a nature walk but dont forget the bug repellant they are viscous
Gem in a not so gemmy area. Like the urban ecology center my kids had a great time
Good place to learn about nature and the outdoors while having fun at the same time.
Always the best place for a walk.
Its a very serene place you can ponder about life and other things that interest you.
Best place to spend your time in the north side of Milwaukee and not get jumped, its a truly excellent place to visit. There are trails that are surrounded by trees which in fall would be a true sight to see. Once the sun starts to settle down you can see the orange, red looking sky as the fireflies start to come out and shine. Would recommend for people who are just trying to escape the city life for awhile.
Nice place to see mother nature. The deer . hawks.cyotes
Nice quiet place
Excellent place to hike an see nature up close.
Had a great time... Discovering what the wilderness offers...
Fun place for children to learn about nature.
I loved this place! Loved all the trails.
Really nice place.
Nice scenery, but you can hear traffic and sirens thorough the entire walk, which is off putting. There was a used panty liner in the parking lot, so I wouldnt come here after dark.
The rangers are knowledgeable and genuinely care about their mission to educate and engage the public. The place has a fascinating history of use and redevelopment, culminating in a peaceful and beautiful oasis in the city.
Found my first morel mushrooms EVER in this forest
It was crowded
Beautiful trails... wide and well maintained. Diverse scenery with woods, prairie, streams and ponds. Helpful staff in the nature center. Would be perfect for a walk with children.
My new favorite place. Very peaceful!!!
Different array of hiking trails
Amazing place! Right in the city! Just wow. The rangers and guides are very knowledgeable, funny. We went for a fall foraging hike. There are walking and biking trails. Your kids and dogs will love it. Go!
A few miles of trails in the middle of the city of Milwaukee. A true gem that most dont know about. I go at least once a month to walk around and feel like Im out of the city. Hardly ever busy too!
Really scenic and a great escape from the city.
This was visited during Doors Open Milwaukee, never knew it existed, but it was a neat gem in the middle of the city. Nice and quiet.
Nice to look at
Nice place to relax and go for a walk
My very special place in the city
700 acres of woods, prairie and a small conifer forest. 3 ponds to filter and clean runoff. plenty of wildlife. many bird, duck, deer as well as a muskrat lodge I found beside the 3rd pond. well maintained trails.
Great place to go for hiking and educational programs
Chill spot to enjoy nature. Lots of open space and not many visitors
Nice place for nature experience.
A hidden jem in the heart of Milwaukees north side off of silver spring and Sherman. Its a quiet wooded escape from city life. Hike the trails, do some bird watching, stay for the natural light show at dusk in the summer. Lightening bugs everywhere - what a sight! Thanks, Havenwoods!
OPEN FIELD WITH A SIGN. On the side of the road....OPEN FIELD WITH A SIGN. Must be a forest for legal reasons.
Beautiful place to enjoy peace and quiet...
A nice, natural respite in the middle of the city.
Great place to get away.
One of the most beautiful gems of Milwaukee, the wildlife sighting here is amazing so many different species of birds and butterflies in the Spring and Summer. It seems like you leave the city going inside which shows how really small we are compared to nature. I cannot wait until spring!!!!
It was great my sons class from u.s. grant school went on a field trip there today it was totally awesome i even learned things i didnt know great experience i would love to goback i had no idea the haven wood forest was even there. And the staff there were all awesome too. Thank you havenwood for a great experience!!!!!
Love the area. Peaceful vibe beautiful scenery.
Its the only state park where the gun shots come from the city surrounding it
Took a walk here...nice!
Quiet nature preserve. Lots of trail choices. Unfortunately not everyone cleans up after their pet. We plan to spend more time there enjoying nature.
Peaceful
Very beautiful and peaceful
Love this park. Very nearby and secluded. Tons of wildlife. Doesnt even require the annual pass.
Nice trails right in the middle of the city, but not much to see. Still a peaceful walk!
Secluded gem in the heart of Milwaukee.
