Drink & Draw live-model quick sketch Saturday was one of the most challenging, interesting and rewarding Saturday night experiences I’ve had in a while! Debo & Jamaal create a safe & welcoming container. Started with 1-minute poses, then progressed to 5, 10 and 20 minute poses with sufficient breaks throughout to socialize, stretch and relax. I’m a lifelong doodler but totally new to gesture drawing and found the process of translating a pose in 1 minute really challenging...and then getting a feel for that, how to leave space for more detail in 20 minute poses. Fabulous. Incredible opportunity for figure study in a casual & non-judgmental environment. Loved the art-filled workspace, hosts and interesting and friendly attendees. The hosts’ figure paintings in the space were beautiful—very interested to take instructional workshops as they arise!
