I LOVE this store and its staff! I recently restarted getting back into the hobby and have been to a bunch different aquarium stores in the area but this one is my favorite! The staff are knowledgable, helpful, and friendly. They always have snails and shrimp even when no one else does and you cant beat their prices on anywhere! This is a hidden gem! Very impressed with the selection and prices of fish and equipment. They sell a lot of things that surprised me (they have it or can order it). I spoke with a great guy both days. He was extremely helpful and professional. Before I could finish my review, I noticed someone posted a bad review. Well, since I was there yesterday & it was so great, I decided to go back. I have no idea what was going on with that review, as the place had received another shipment of pumps, filters, lights, fish, pretty much stacked with product! I also took my time and looked through the store and not a single dead fish. Really one of the healthiest fish selections I have seen. The guy working there said they quarantine and hand feed all the fish, so they are all good to go or they tell us. They had fish that were being medicated, and so I wanted to test him. I cant believe it, he actually told me they just got the fish in and are medicating it (so he recommended not buying it). This is very rare for this area, the opposite of pushing sick fish out the door. Very refreshing. Im going to go back next week and purchase some of the rare discus they had. I will be adding to this review on how it goes.

This is one of the smaller (if not the smallest) of the aquarium stores in Milwaukee. Within the confines of this small store there are always some interesting fish that are healthy and competitively priced. Travis also has a good range of VERY well priced equipment, prices often below Amazon.. You get to save money AND shop local, cant argue with that.

I found out Milwaukee Aquatics had a storefront while perusing Craigs List a couple months back and decided to stop in; I am so glad I did.The owner, Travis, is a super friendly guy who goes out of his way to help you. He has the best prices on everything aquarium related. He not only sells everything from tanks and accessories to freshwater and marine fish and invertebrates (anything needed to set up a fresh or saltwater tank-sand, gravel, lights, heaters, pumps skimmers, stands, live rock and etc.), but also has amphibians and reptiles available at times, along with housing and heat lamps for them. All this at the lowest prices Ive ever seen. If he doesnt have what you need, hell order it for you if he can. He also buys and sells used tanks and equipment, so whether youre in the market for new or used, Milwaukee Aquatics should be first on your list of places to stop by and check out.I had checked out the Milwaukee Aquatics website before the storefront opened, and it was fairly minimal, but I have noticed he has been expanding it quite a bit lately. So, thats worth a look too.The store may be on the small side, but dont let that fool you, it is well worth your time to stop in. Im sure youll be pleasantly surprised, as I was. I stop in each weekend, even if I dont need anything. I just like see what new livestock and other items have arrived, as well as share updates on my tanks and get advice on the new reef build Im planning.

Like the store. Not sure why some of these reviewers were so hateful. I went for the first time last week. They had a good selection of fish and there driftwood selection was great. Didnt buy anything but i will be back for some of that driftwood once i have some measurements. Overall great experience.

Not the biggest selection, but this is my go to place for any supplies, they carry sunsun stuff and other budget stuff. For example Ive shopped around for air pumps, heaters, substrates, etc this store always has something 10 bucks cheaper than anywhere else, sometimes at the same price you could get off amazon or ebay. Staff is chatty and has good advice and recommendations.

The first thing I noticed was how much lower the prices were than other stores in the area. The staff are knowledgeable, and freindly. I talked to them for about 15 minutes about what I am trying to do with my Amazon biotope and I never felt rushed.As a fan of piranhas I appreciated that there were 2 nice looking 6in Black Diamonds and a perfect Ruby Red. The day I visited I saw some mature Black Angels, several nice Discus and some Silver Dollars that were the best examples of this species that I have seen in a long time. I will definitely be back soon!

1st time there and dont think we will go back. There were a few different tanks with dead fish, I told 2 of the employees and neither one of them even moved an inch to take them out. Plus no one even tried to help us. The only interaction with any employee was to tell them of the dead fish. No one acknowledged us or asked if we needed assistance.

Shopping for something to bring my nitrates down in my 75 gallon salt water aquarium. Store owner was very helpful and had exactly what I needed. Quality products at a very reasonable price. Wish I would of gone to this store earlier on, I would of saved money.

Has great deals on exotics with the best prices but you have to catch him. Fishes are healthy and active.

This store is just opening, and I got my first real fish tank from it. I think that the man who runs it was extremely helpful, and his store was very clean and organized. He gave us a good price on the stuff we got and even offered to take an old tank off my hands (and gave me some in store credit!). I also got a lot of questions answered. I think the owner is very knowledgeable. He also helped me carry the tank out to my car. Very nice place, excited to keep going back once I get my tank started!

I bought an aquarium filter. Opened it when I got home. It was broken and I called to return it, I was pointed towards the manufacturers website. No wonder why they have black market prices because they dont support their products and will not offer you a refund. As a matter of fact I was sold a DEFECTIVE product that they wont let me exchange. I will not be wasting time or money here again. The website they sent me for filter warranty I cannot find any information on whatsoever. In my opinion I was sold a bad part and they brushed it under the rug. Criminals...

Cool little store on Howell. Best selection of driftwood and African cichlids in the area, and a unique selection of brands for equipment which was refreshing. Guy I spoke to briefly, presumably the owner, was very nice and helpful. Will definitely be stopping by again soon!

The shop looks pretty “bare bones” but the staff tell me that’s because they try to reduce their overhead to pass the savings onto the customer. By far they have the best prices on fish in the city. Staff is friendly and selection is decent. If they don’t have something they’ll order it for you. After Gary’s Pet Jungle, which in my opinion holds the crown, Milwaukee Aquatics is a great addition to Milwaukee for the aquarium hobbyist. Consider shopping here instead of your local Petsmart or Petco. Milwaukee needs to support these small businesses to keep the aquarium hobby interesting.

The husband and I have been coming here since Travis started and the service is awesome. Yes there are times when you have to wait a little but unlike the big stores you dont have to hunt noone down for ten minutes and then get rushed. The selection is increased at least by three fold.

If I can rate this no star I would. So I called 30 minutes after their opening hours because I wanted to know if they actually have the tank and stand that Im very interested in available in their store. Im more than an hour drive away coming from IL. Nobody picked up and I thought to myself theyre probably getting ready for the day. So I called them again twice after a couple hours prior to driving to their store and yet again nobody picked up and I cant leave a voicemail since the phone voicemail is full. I made the drive anyway hoping that they have the tank and stand available in their store (They have it available in their website) More than an hour drive later, I arrived to this store and was surprised how the store looked so cluttered. I told the guy (Asian guy thats holding a driftwood in their website) that I called prior to driving here but nobody picked up. He told me oh Travis that usually take orders is not here today. I mean, what kind of business are you running that doesnt even have an in store phone? Mind as well take that stupid phone number off your website and your store sign. I stayed for a couple minutes hoping I would see some interesting fish stock but their aquarium are overcrowded with dividers and just like the previous review mention, this store looks like theyre about to close because of the clutter. Nothing really looked interesting either, just dirty, overcrowded tanks and piled up tanks in the middle. (No wonder the other review mention about their tank leaking) I would stay away from this store and do business somewhere else.

This is the place to buy a tank, the only place to buy a tank. Amazing prices on everything that is not a fish. They do not stock the type of fish I am into, so I dont buy Fish here. I buy everything else here, lights, heaters, filters, food, you name it best price. Messy shop, with good service. Not 5 stars because of fish selection, but 7 stars if you are talking price on all other items. Great little, messy shop!

I purchased a 300 gallon Marineland tank and sump and I love it never buy a canister filter again. Travis is very helpful and patient. The prices are very reasonable. After reading some other reviews bashing the place too slow, one person, and clutter. Hes a guy trying to run a business that hes got a passion for. If you want faster service and no experienced advice then yeah go to a big box fish store.

Travis, the owner, Sells stolen merchendice. He sold off a rock and corals of mine, about $300 worth, that I had payed for, and now will not talk to me or respond at all. He claims to be knowledgeable about Marine aquariums and is not. Be Careful Of listening to him you are apt to have somes very expense mistakes on you hands. Aquatics Unlimited is much more reliable I should have stuck with them from the get go. I learned the hard way that cheaper is not better especially when it comes to Salt water aquariums.

Travis was very helpful he explained everything very well and was very helpful. Differently would go back, it was worth the hour and half drive. The only reason it has 4 stars is that the store is a little cluttered and some items were very hard to get to.

This store was great when it opened. And is now garbage. Travis (the owner) was a pleasure to deal with. The employees he hires though cant understand simple customer service. Cannot understand simple taxes or on how selling a broken product is not acceptable that hasnt even left the counter when checked. And being told its my problem is not acceptable. This taller gentleman doesnt understand care or health for fish. When your main objective in this company is customer service and healthy fish it should be made the priority. All in all i will never return to this company and i hope that the owner would reach out to his numerous customers that are unhappy. A very simple fix would be to get employees that are knowledgable and have passed the 4th grade.

Fantastic prices rivaling and sometimes beating on line prices. Very good slection of fish . They will try to find hard to get fish for you . Very knowledgeable . I would give this store 5 out of 5 stars easely, but for one monor thing they need a larger store . Again maybe thats the reason there prices are so much better than any one else in town.

This is my go-to place for saltwater fish now. I bought a blue tang and a foxface from Travis a year ago and they are doing great!

Got our marineland 220 and stand from Travis. He gave us a great deal. Also purchased two of the current orbit led light bars. They are amazing. My plants have exploded . The fluval fx6 is just as great. Response times can be a little slow but he has a full heart for it. Thank you

A couple cool cichlids, but other than that, terrible selection. Store is tiny and cramped. Most of the bigger tanks are empty or only have one or two fish in them. Many of the fish listed on the tanks arent there. Very disappointed that we specifically made the trip to Milwaukee to check out this store

Visited the new store twice now. Even though the store has only been in its new location for a few weeks they have fish that I can not find anywhere else in Milwaukee. The store is not very organized but its what you can expect from a new business. The man that owns it (and will most likely be the one working there when you go in) actually cares for his costumers. Everything he has quoted me a price on is better than or the same as the online price. This is not your typical aquatics store whose prices on supplies are 400% more than online. Before you buy anything online, I would go to this store. Once this store is finished and organized it will be one of the better aquatics stores in the Milwaukee area.(There is also no sign identifying the store, but its on a corner in an old computer store. Look for the filters and tanks in the windows.)

Ok first off I couldnt walk in the store. There is so much product stacked on the floor you had to turn sideways and shimmy through the door. Once inside there are like 20 tanks total and they are subdivided with black grates with very little for selection. The plastic bags on the floor throughout the entire store makes me wonder how much passion they have for their own business. Dont get me wrong this could be a great place to get cheap hard to find fish but to be honest I will never know because I couldnt get passed the clutter and filth of the store. I will never be back to this place. How it received a 4.4 rating on google is beyond me. Lastly the Windows werent covered and there were tanks in the Windows. Everybody in this hobby knows you cant put the tanks in front of an uncovered window. The sun will cause serious algae issues.

Good store for serious aquatic hobbyists

Drove to see this place from Chicago as someone who is into the saltwater hobby. I was misled by both the reviews and the website. Maybe at one time this place was as good as it looks on the internet. Maybe the owner is going through a hard time but, that is no excuse for the condition the fish were in. I am scarred mentally by trying to comprehend how someone could open their doors so people can see dying, sick fish eating each other. I witnessed a tank with at least 3 (definitely more) dead clowns. It seems to me that someone lost there love for the hobby and abandoned the store. Then again, everyone has personal things going on, so that could be a reason (still not an excuse) for the condition of the store. I wish the owner and the fish the best. Very sad to see.

Travis is a real nice guy and Id hate to give him a bad review but this is about the fish. When this place was still unknown to many, his prices were unbeatable and he always delivered nice quality peacocks. Now it seems his peacocks are definitely juiced (hormoned) to look more appealing, but the sad part is they are not even males. I bought a few peacocks from him because the colors were amazing. I already knew that they were juiced, but it just shows potential of what they can be, but as their color faded down they turned into plain gray. I decided to vent the fish because now my other males were trying to mate with them and sadly as I vented them they were females. His prices have gone up and its a shame because his store was a gem. Now its becoming Aquatics Unlimited. Overpriced with horrible ethics.-Replying to comment from owner-Travis, what you just commented was basically a rant. You also needed your co-workers to jump on board to back you up with great reviews. As I stated before, you are a nice guy, but I simply gave a bad review because of my concerns. Any loyal or soon to be customer has a right to be disappointed when appropriate. You seem like a smart guy and of course we know that color sells. A drab grey peacock wont sell, but to the enthusiasts, we know what the possibilities will become. You should raise some of the peacocks that you sell. A normal peacock will maintain and increase in color as they mature, not lose color within a week given no stress or even at the bottom of a pecking order.

Cool fish aquarium store and they have some very big one and stuff for beginners. They didnt have the fish last time I stopped by cause they are more of a full rounded supply store.

Hello, My name is Chris.I buy from this store all the time! Seriously the lowest prices around wisconsin. He got me deep into saltwater without breaking my wallet. If you can imagine anything you want saltwater related he either has it in stock or he can order you it and sell you it cheaper then you can find anywhere. I come all the 1 hour away once a week to buy stuff from Travis the owner. He is awesome and always takes care of me and does not pressure me into buying anything. He even has really cheap Hippo Tang and he flat out told me yes its a good deal but I wouldnt buy it for your tank at this moment. He isnt trying to rip anyone off and he really does care. He also returned a light I had bought but didnt like it after 1 week and returned it without even a hiccup! LOVE THIS PLACE! A++++

I was looking to buy a silver arowana, but the prices at other shops and online stores were borderline ridiculous. I did a lot of searching before I found this shop, and Im glad that I did! I bought a beautiful, lively silver arowana from this shop at a great price. They didnt have it in stock, but were able to get it in a few days (which is super awesome!) Great little place! I would totally recommend this to anyone looking for a more affordable option without sacrificing quality. I will definitely shop here again!

I came on here to give a detailed review, and cant believe some of the garbage that has been posted about him and his store. I have watched him give 110% to his customers & sacrifice everything. I know there are many many customers & friends like me that appreciate everything he does for us. Im disgusted by some of the classless reviews about a store and a guy who is totally committed to getting their customers what they want & believe me... their prices are waaay less than what some of these haters are saying. Someone actually took the time to give a 1 star review because they got their voice mail?? Id say definitely go and find out for yourself what the future of local fish stores looks like. Keep up the great work Travis & remember that for every hater out there with hidden agendas, there hundreds of loyal customers that love your store.

So Ive had this old 20 gal aquarium tank just sitting in the attic collecting dust and today I decided to bring it back to life. Milwaukee Aquatics helped me achieve that with great ease. As soon as I walked in I noticed how different it was. It had more of a small family owned shop kinda feel to it which lets you know that they are passionate about it. Loved how every single one of my questions were answered with such friendliness and knowledge. Got a hell of a deal with some Glo Fish that actually looked healthy!!! ( not like the poor little Walmart critters :/ ) I have never been so impressed with the service and as mentioned I will be returning next week for a few more lil guys. :D

Not your typical store. The bad? Its small and cramped, a bit of a mess, a few people in the store and youre going to have a hard time getting around... The fish selection is very hit or miss but if you have something in mind Im sure he can get it for you. If youre looking for a filter, heater, equipment etc. he does have them in stock but I would call first to see what he has as there isnt much selection.The good? For a brick and mortar store the prices are unbeatable. Absolutely unbeatable. If youre buying a tank, buy it here... Especially during sales the tank prices are insanely low compared to other stores. I bought a 210 gallon tank from here for less than the one I was considering buying used on Craigslist.The driftwood. Driftwood prices are a complete rip off virtually everywhere else but he usually has a huge selection of driftwood ranging from small pieces you could use in a micro tank to massive pieces that wouldnt even fit in my 210 and for a damn good price. You cant even find pieces that big online, let alone the ability to pick them out by hand.If youre a casual shopper looking to just mull around the store looking at fish and a wide variety of equipment there might be better options but if you are a serious fishkeeper looking for a nice store with a personable and knowledgeable staff I would strongly recommend giving this store a try(or if youre brand new and are looking for someone that will take the time to get you going in the right direction). The owner, who is there 90% of the time, is extremely knowledgeable and if he doesnt know something he isnt afraid to admit it instead of selling you a line of BS so no playing Russian Roulette hoping you end up getting serviced by a staff member that knows their stuff and not just someone working their summer job like some of the bigger stores. Truly passionate about helping you out and gives the sense that he personally wants you to succeed in getting the right setup for you and keeping your fish healthy and happy vs. just making a buck.Might not be the best option for every situation but where they do excel they are unparalleled - prices, tanks, staff, driftwoodI would have given -1 star for the store size/maneuverability but if youre going to the store to get the job done, and done right, and not as a field trip, this is the way to go.Also he darn near loaded the 210 into the Uhaul truck by himself with hardly any lifting on my part so thats a plus.
