I havent seen anything that I didnt enjoy here- MTC productions make you think. They tend to get great actors and interesting plays. The theatre itself is quite nice. Marin is lucky to have it!
I`m really glad that Mill Valley has a playhouse. They do a great job with the space they have, and the plays they elect to perform have always been very enjoyable. I`m not a big theater goer and usually just attend with friends, but Ive had nothing but good experiences there!
Zero stars. I will not support a theater company that depicts child rape as consensual sex.Their play, Thomas and Sally, depicts the relationship between Thomas Jefferson and his child slave as romantic. This whitewashed version of history is unnacceptable. To produce this play, in 2017, is unnaceptable.
This is the worst play I have ever been to in my 65 years. I guess their are serious issues when you walk to the doors and they are protesters and now I see for good reason. I guess when you enter the play and the cover of the program is torn off by the Theater Company Staff, I guess that sets the stage for failure.Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemming is a historical event with very serious racial implications. Marin Theater Company treated the event with such disrespect and disregard not fit to be called a professional play.My wife and I are African Americans and we were terribly insulted especially by using the N word so liberally.Refunds are neccessary, this is not befitting of a professional experience. I will call for a refund or you can respond to me via this message. if I do not get the refund this week, I will contact the major news outlets and write a review that will not be flattering.Michael Abraham510 -384 - 1277
Saw one August Wilson play here, Excellent. Easy parking. Intimate comfortable theater.
A wonderful staff and simply a great place to spend an afternoon or evening. Easy parking, small and comfortable with a number of good places to eat close by...

We have subscribed to Marin Theatre Company for 32 years. Not a bad seat in the house.
Such a great theater program for the kids. Dear Edwina was well done.
Top professional theatre in North Bay. Full season of classic to innovative new plays always engage.
Just saw the production of the legend of Georgia McBride its a must go see fabulous fabulous
A good place for theater- but you need a car to get there.
Nice, intimate venue putting out consistently great shows.Ive been attending a lot of theater over the past couple of years, but no other venue in the Bay Area makes me as excited as the Marin Theatre Company (though Berkeley Rep comes close).I discovered MTC just this season because of the Brother/Sister trilogy put on in partnership with ACT & the Magic. MTC started the trilogy with In the Red and Brown Water, which was one of the most emotional and impactful plays Ive seen in ages. They showed it was not a fluke with their equally powerful follow-up 9 Circles. I think its too late to get a subscription this year, but Im definitely going to bite the bullet next year.As far as seating goes, you really cant get a bad seat in either Theater. The Boyer is more traditional, and the Liebermans partial thrust is more edgy and interesting.Parking is free & plentiful in the lot next door. Also, they generally have 2pm performances on Saturday and Sunday, which I find to be incredibly convenient because I can usually get to and from the theater without hitting much traffic on the Golden Gate.
BRAVO to MTC for bringing phenomenal, diverse theatre to the Bay Area. Always worth it.
Top notch live theatre venue in the Bay Area!
Great performance. Fun evening.
We just got back from the Sunday matinee performance of LASSO OF TRUTH, a world premiere by Carson Kreitzer and directed by MTCs talented Artistic Director, Jason Minadakis. This is one of those high risk productions I love to see in the theater. LASSO OF TRUTH centers on Dr. William Marston, PhD, the inventor of the lie detector, personality profile disk and creator of the comic book superhero, Wonder Woman. The play exams the underlying demands for truth and trust in personal power in Marstons polyamorous, BDSM relationship with his wife and lab assistant. Polyamory/BDSM and Marstons passion for developing a machine that could fight crime by detecting whether or not someone is being truthful provide rich ground for cultivation. Jason Minadakis succeeds in cultivating that ground. His use of the stage, including comic book projections on the backdrop of the set, was clever and extremely effective in moving this complicated story. The rich script weaves in questions related to gender constructs in American society and the accompanying challenges or assumptions regarding power and how it is used. The cast performed as a tight knit ensemble. The set and projections were effective in creating the mood and carrying the complicated story line as it moved between the dynamics of Marston and his family and the interaction of a young woman who was inspired by Wonder Woman with a comic book store owner as she tries to acquire the first edition of the book featuring Wonder Woman. I urge you to get tickets for this play. It is well worth the trip to Mill Valley.
