This is a great little local gem. Some beautiful scenery over the river. Some abandoned (I assume) railroad tracks run through the area. This was a great hike with some fall foliage. Good for younger kids, there 2 loops. One loop is just over 0.5 miles. The second is 1.0 mile and takes you down to the shore of the river and follows the tracks a little in 2 different spots.
Nice easy loop. Beach on the river was a pleasant surprise.
Very beautiful scenic view of the Connecticut river! There is a soft sandy beach as well as various walking trails of all difficulties.People however are completely disrespectful of nature and will throw their trash wherever! Be cautious if your fur babies are walking due to the glass and debris scattered about.
Super interesting hidden place with cool old railroad tracks
This is a hidden gem of trails. My husband found this trail area that leads out straight to the CT River from Haddam area and is a great place to take your dogs for a hike. The trail has two loops that predictably lead back to the parking area after a mile, so you dont have to commit to miles of hiking before returning to your vehicle.
Great trail. Tree markings should be more visible.
Great place to hike and hang out
Much better trails
Very cool place. Nice easy hike that takes you through the woods and down to the shores of the Connecticut river. Bugs & fishermen were out & you have to keep your dog on a leash, but definitely worth the trip. Theres actually a picnic table and place to pitch a tent, but heard from others that sand fleas make staying the night impossible.
Beavers very active this week
Another great set of blue blazed hiking trails!!!! TY Connecticut Forest & Park Association for maintaining them!!!!
I couldnt find a trail map anywhere online to track my steps. The trails were marked with blue and the map is at the head of the trail, but theres many crossroads that the map doesnt indicate where they go to. We hit the tracks on the Northern Loop and turned around. I wasnt confident with where I was going and this trail system is not on Alltrails.
If youre looking for an easy trail but somewhere to explore with your dogs off leash. Many different trail options here!
Nice place to walk in the woods
Nice to be shown a place I will certainly return to on my own. So few invasives!
Nice hike by river, easy and short trail for the casual hiker.
