I have played Frog Hollow many times and it is a great course. There is a real nice challenge to the layout which causes you to think about where to play your shot for the best position. The club pro, Patrick, is good teacher, works well with people and can quickly help diagnose what you are doing. He has helped me a number of times. The thing I like most is unlike other courses, these guys are working hard and spending money to make the course better.

The owner was obnoxious and extremely rude to our group while playing. He was doing the role of a course ranger I suppose, which is normally a good thing, but when I asked him about 3x to ride off and leave our hole he was beligerent and just sat on our hole staring at us, like a total creep, it was very obnoxious. I waved him off and yelled that he was distracting me, which he was in my line of view of the green, but he just sat there in his cart. Mind you we are playing for money too.I got into a heated argument with him and he behaved like a child. Honestly he has no concept of running a golf course or customer service. He should sit in the office and let experienced golf course people do the work. He was stalking us the entire back nine like we were holding up the entire course. I let him know that we teed off a good 25 minutes past our tee time. We finished in 4 hours 10 minutes which is VERY GOOD for a weekend foursome. The kicker to the whole ordeal was that no one was behind us. I was always checking if anyone was being held up by my group, and there was never a time we impeded play.Reading through other google reviews it is very apparent the new owner is the problem. This is not just a one off isolated event. Multiple reviews here saying the same thing sbout a RUDE OWNER with a BAD ATTITUDE.I would recommend golfers play another course that knows how to treat weekend golfers. We are out there to have a relaxing saturday, not to deal with an obnoxious course owner with ZERO people skills and a bad attitude. SPEND YOUR DOLLARS SOMEWHERE THAT DESERVES IT !!!!!! BACK CREEK, ST. ANNES, DEERFIELD AND DELCASTLE ARE GREAT ALTERNATIVES IN THE DELAWARE AREA.

My husband and his friends recently went to this course and they were treated horribly by the owner. Totally get it if they have to charge extra for carts because it requires more work and supplies to sanitize them, but be up front on the cost and dont overcharge. It was $20 per cart, that is excessive. The price of the cart is not posted anywhere on the site, and they were completely surprised when they arrived and found out the cost. When they asked about it, the owner got extremely rude. The total price came out to $60 on a Sunday, which is normally fine, but the putting green was closed, no cart girl, etc. So they basically charge full price without full amenities. They also brought some beers in a cooler, nothing was said about the coolers when they started. Then later the owner came out while they were in the middle of golfing a made a rude comment about how this is the last time he will allow coolers on the course because he sells beer there. He said you wouldnt bring beer to a bar well news flash the golf course isnt a bar, and if you dont make it known that you sell alcohol during this time of confusion, how are people suppose to know? Because of COVID-19 things are different everywhere you go nowadays. Take some time to make your customers aware of things like alcohol sales, extra fees for carts, etc. I just cant believe a business owner would be so ignorant to paying customers, especially during this time. They will stick to Back Creek from now on where the staff is friendly and knows how to treat paying customers.

Frog Hollow is a beautiful course in a great location at a fair price, with that being said there is no reason as to why that course shouldnt be packed with tee times on a nice weathered Saturday. Heres why its not, POOR OWNERSHIP. This guy does not know the basics of marketing and should not be running a golf course let alone a business. He does not know how to treat customers with respect or courtesy. Not a very nice person and it will show as this course will eventually fail unless he sells.

The course is in terrible condition and the owner is unbearable. Wanted to check our bags for booze before we teed off. Granted we didn’t have any, but his attitude was awful. I play here consistently almost once or twice a week and I truly do enjoy playing this course. However, the owner treats his customers as if they are second class citizens and has little to no respect for anyone who plays here and uses every opportunity he can to up-charge whatever he can to make an extra buck. I forgot my mask the other week and went back to my car to grab it and when I came back in the owner belittled me for forgetting in the first place making many disrespectful comments for an honest mistake. I really hope this course changes ownership, great course horrid management.

Was pleasantly surprised how the course is recovering. It is still winter and grass needs warmer temp at night to have growth . Course is very playable. Some fairways have a ways to go along with greens but you can feel optimism and see how they are working to recover from the damaged that occurred last year. I will be playing there a lot this year. The employees at this course should be ashamed of themselves. I clearly don’t go to a golf course to build relationships with the employees, but the people that work there- have me NEVER returning to Frog Hollow again.I booked my tee time online but when I went to pay when I got to the course, the “assistant manager” Tyler, who was working the desk, charged me double the price of what my online cost total was. I showed him the online reservation and cost and he said “well that is wrong and a mistake on there then” - I asked him if he was going to honor what their website cost said and he told me “no, he wouldn’t and they were charging the rate they wanted at the course.”Terrible customer service and they should fix their online reservation price if that’s not the actual cost.My two friends (all three of us are females) then went to get our golf carts and the greeter giving the carts says, “How did you three get a kitchen pass and get to be here?” I was a little taken back so I nervously giggled and then said “Huh, we are out enjoying the beautiful weather to play a fun round of golf.” The man responds with “your husbands let you out of the kitchen to do that?!” I honestly couldn’t believe what I was hearing but my one friend (who is the only one who has a “husband”) responded with “my husband is the cook in my house and is home doing the yard work now too” and the employee states: “oh well you clearly must eat bologna sandwiches.”This employee thought he was funny and he wasn’t. What he was was rude and insulting. If you want to be “greeted” with demeaning words and play at a below subpar course that charges the price of Pebble beach course (exaggeration) in the middle of friggen nowhere, go to frog hollow! There are way too many golf courses where the employees are polite and the course is above average to have to even go back to that course. Never again!

Played March 10th 2020. Looking for a new place to play & thought I would try Frog Hollow, A one hour & 5 min. drive from White Marsh which is 15 min. north of Baltimore, This track reminded me a lot of Myrtle Beach courses! It looks like these guys have had some bad luck with the weather & some kind power outage but I am sure it will back in great shape very soon. There were numerous workers out fixing sand traps etc. I just loved the (very fair off the tee for longer hitters) lay out. First time players make a right after hole 5 to get to number 6.

Great choice for a laid back golf course with reasonable prices. Staff seemed very friendly and the atmosphere wasnt too stuffy like some golf courses can get. The pro shop was a little sparse, but has enough merchandise for anyone in a pinch. The course was in the process of being reseeded in a lot of the areas, but you cant fault them for trying to improve the grass quality.Overall it was a great place to golf, just try not to hit any houses!

The owner is rude and service in the pro shop is horrible. No grass in the fairways, bunkers have weeds in them and are unplayable.and have crab grass all over them. This has to be the worst course in Delaware. The sad part is the course used to be one of the best. I hope somebody buys this course and can restore it to what it used to be. Place is under new management! Course is in great shape and they ate spending money to fix all the bunkers. Golf pub is open 7 days a week and ha e a good section of food. The crabs are my favorite! MD#1s or LA #1s. Tons of meat. Overall renovations need to be done for an actual pro shop but the price is right. $299 or less plus cart fee for all you can at membership. Have also seen $199 plus cart fee. They offer senior and military discounts. Pool and function hall are owned/managed by someone separated from the golf. Pool process was high this year. Fair price for what you get here. The course is in pretty good shape for this area. The greens are very undulating and the pin placements were brutal on some holes. You can expect a few more putts than you are used to.I was surprised to learn how bare bones the food selection was at the turn. I walked in around noon, and they didnt have anything hot available and only a couple cold wrap selections. The grill didnt open until 4pm.My biggest concern with this course is the neighboring houses are closer to the danger zone than any course Ive ever played. And there are several tee boxes where hitting a house is possible. One house in particular has at least 20 patches in their siding and a hole blown through their gutter drain pipe.Overall, it was decent course. I normally play Rock and Delcastle. I would say the course quality was about the same.

I have been coming to this place with friends for past 3 years now. What I have been through today has driven me to the extent of writing a bad review. Came with 2 friends, picked up some golf balls, while the friends went out, thought to grab beers for everyone, took 3 beers, did not tip the bartender because I had the exact cash for 3 beers(was not carrying my wallet), felt bad but thought I would come back for the second round anyway and could get the cash from other friends and would tip her for the second round. Came back to get the second round of beers and she just would not serve, she specifically said that I could wait as I did not give her the tip, I waited for 40 minutes to get 2 beers while she kept on serving others, I asked her many times, I even mentioned that I did not have enough cash at the time I took the first set of beers, she said you didnt tip me so you can wait. After 40 minutes and 6 dollars of tip, I just came out. Such a disappointing evening, more than that, I used to love this place. I understand people working for tips, but have some decency and at least listen to the customer. Rule is simple here, No tip means no service.

I used to hold this place in high regard and go out of my way a few times a year to drive up and play this course. Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill. The fairways were burnt, bunkers have been in shambles for a while, greens were rock hard with more dead spots than grass, not to mention the previous hole positions are covered with little patches that literally knock your ball every which way other than where you were trying to put it. I hope they sort this place out soon, otherwise I doubt that I will be back. The food is legit, if you make it to the turn or 19th.

Booked a course here last minute as we were originally scheduled to play at Heritage Shores but they ended up closing the course due to the heavy rain. For $39 for an afternoon round, Im not going to comment much on the course. Nothing special but for that price cant complain. Also it was cart path only but again, not going to complain given the weather. Thats to be expected. What I can complain about is the service as well as how they manage the course. We were a twosome. We got sandwiched between a 6some & a 5some. I kid you not! I called at the 1st tee box letting management know & all they said was the extra 2some among the 6some should be teeing off with us but then left it to us to tell the group. What? Isnt that the job of the ranger or some other employee to enforce the rules? So as you can imagine, brutally long front 9. Then on the turn, as were standing on the side of the 1st tee box (they made us start on the back nine) waiting for the 6some to finish teeing off, one of the workers come barging at us asking if were just teeing off at which point I told him that you started us on the back nine, to which he didnt acknowledge & simply went back inside. Seriously plenty of options & Ill gladly pay $20 more to play at Heritage Shores or some other course for that matter.

What a disappointing day today at Frog Hollow. Ive enjoyed playing there once or twice per year for the last decade or so. It was worth driving 30 or so miles to play it.Not any more. Pretty much a cow pasture.Theyve let the fescue rough grow to ~2 depth over much more of the course (supposedly to resemble Scottish links) but now much too close to the fairways in many spots for a public track. Lost balls and slow play were the inevitable result (lets not kid ourselves -- they are saving a LOT of money by doing this.) What would normally be first cut bordering the fairways is now true 1-2 rough -- quite unattractive and penal to boot. Basically, deep fescue that, when I started playing here a decade ago, was strategically placed and added to the attractivenenss of the course, is now overgrown, encroaching, and very ugly. The fairway bunkers and greenside traps are for the most part weed-infested mud/dirt pits. The rough surrounding these was so weedy and unkempt that a few balls normally in-play were lost, as we did not want to spend 5 minures looking for them.In summary -- check out the course pictures on their website, then ignore them. NOT EVEN CLOSE.I will grant Frog Hollow that the tees and greens were in decent shape, though signs of weed infestation are showing up and I am concerned what they will look like in a month or two as summer conditions really set in. Carts were clean and service was friendly enough. Price for seniors was very good -- but for the current conditions no bargain!A fairly recent earlier review compared it to Delcastle and Rock Manor. Greens, tees and fairways are a bit better than Delcastle, but overall the course is less playable given the disastrous traps and absurd rough. Last time I played The Rock it was MUCH nicer than this place; though the greens had been punched and sanded with no warning on their website. Im sure they are excellent by now.Sure feels like the death spiral has begun. I truly hope I am wrong as there are a number of memorable holes and the nature areas are quite pretty. Plus all those nice homes on the course deserve better...

I dont typically write bad reviews, as I work in customer service and I understand the magnitude held in word-of-mouth. However, ... we ordered crabs through Frog Hollow Golf Club and Restaurant.THEY WERE BAD. We ordered half a bushel, only to find out they only sell in dozens (ok, fine) since it was described as the best of the season, the biggest and heaviest. ...When we got them home we were still 6 crabs short. The crabs themselves were no more than 3.5-5 inches long; and super light! Almost empty. Some not even legal length. Very over cooked and highly over seasoned. We called Frog Hollow to voice our concern for the missing crabs, misleading plug about the crabs being from Carolina and they were bigger and better than Maryland crabs. So, the very nice lady on the phone was apologetic, but after speaking to her manager, all she could offer was 6 free crabs! ... um no, we ordered #1s - we got 4inch, light weight, most missing claws! So I ask nicely to speak with her manager; she gets the owner who coincidentally was already speaking to someone else about the same problem... .. .... he was the rudest, most condescending individual I have ever spoken to! Arguing with me (the customer) about the order. Offered no apologies, no remorse, NOTHING. Laughed at the problem we were trying to explain. Argued about the quality. Told me I was the only one with a problem; thats odd... because the rep that answered the phone told me I had to hold for you because you were dealing with the same issue another customer was having. Said that there was nothing wrong with the order and the only thing I could do was drive all the way back to Frog Hollow from New Castle, just to show you the crabs. .... so thats what I did! I went back down to meet with the owner, only to be greeted by the first nice lady I spoke with on the phone; while the owner hid in the next room. She initially offered me my money back AND she offered me a dozen jumbo crabs... but then talked to you (the owner) about it and you I assume refused them. Never came out to apologize, never offered any personal explanation, never even showed face for your establishment.Horrible!
