I meet the owner a few weeks ago and visited the place with my two boys Frank and Gustavo. He allowed us in the back area where we were able to choose our Koi’s. Came back again for a free water test. Everything looked good but was made aware of over feeding my fish. Excellent experience and service as usual.

Great place, but honestly for the amount of people working there, they are really...really...slow at attending to you. I guess its because most of the workers are shy teenage-young adults so I cant blame em too much. They all know their stuff though, and everything is high quality.

I have been purchasing fish from this business for over 15 years. They have very knowledgeable employees that make the hobby much easier. Mark and Rey are very helpful especially with Freshwater aquariums. The store is well organized and even when they are busy the wait times are not very long for assistance.

My wife and I are just learning about freshwater aquariums.Weve been to the store several times, and all the employees weve spoken with go out of their way to listen to our concerns, and answer our numerous questions.Everyone is extremely helpful and knowledgeable.Weve purchased items from another aquarium store nearer to our home, and we found out the hard way that they gave us incorrect information & wasted our time & money.Its worth the trip to Exotic aquariums because the people there are experts.

Went in for the first time yesterday and it is, by far, my favorite aquarium store. It has EVERYTHING that I ever wanted but couldnt find at local big chain pet stores. I highly recommend this place for every professional and rookie hobbyist for both fresh and saltwater and from planted aquariums to ponds and even reef aquariums. Will definitely be making the trip from Homestead for all my aquarium needs.

Great selection horrible customer service

The aquarium stores have a little quantity of freshwater species. I prefer this kind of fish. Exotic has a lot of those with good quality.The attention is very good. Plenty of food, aquarium chemicals and live plants. Good place.

Have been going to this store for roughly 15 years, store has its pros and cons but I was friendly with some of the guys so I would keep them in the loop of stores I would visit. They some times have some rare fish and a nice fresh water selection but the other local stores beat them out in other aspects.About 2 weeks ago I came across a rare fish I wanted but the man (new worker) helping me told me he looked a little sick. He proceeded to ask the worker that I mostly associate with if he should still sell me the fish, he responded yes but at half price and if i still wanted it sick. I responded is it sick like it has a 50-50 chance to die or its going thru something but most likely make a full recovery. They responded it will be fine just be patient. I proceeded to do the standard acclimation process when the fish started to react poorly to it and shortly after he was put in the tank he died (i put other things that same day and the day after so my water was fine). I called the store and happen to speak to the new guy that helped me, I asked to talk to the guy Im more familiar with he responded whats the issue I explained and he responded with hey man a deals, a deal sorry bro, we told you it could die and hung up on me.

We had a great experience at Exotic Aquariums yesterday. We left another aquarium store where we stayed for 10 minutes waiting for service (Ocean View, was the name I believe) and decided to head to a nearby store and viola: Exotic Aquariums. Alfredo helped us build a mesocosm for my daughters school project. He was friendly, attentive and the story has an amazing inventory.

Worst customer service ever. I’ve been to the store twice and not a greeting or offer of help. I’ve waited 30 minutes each time. I’m never going back to that store.

Great selection of fish but very poor customer service. The guys in the front usually seem bothered when you ask them something or seem to not have interest in helping you at all. Only reason why I even go is because they stock some fishes that I cannot find anywhere else. Corals are a bit overpriced in comparison to everyone else. Besides that I avoid this store.

Has almost anything you would need, but its a bit dank due to the years its been running. Regardless has one of the largest inventories Ive seen in similar stores.

I took my kids to take a look, They have many beautiful fish.

Horrible experience, they have a great selection of fish true. However, the customer service was horrendous, they were all talking and laughing in the back avoiding us. Also our attendant was very adamant about knowing our fish better than us. They sold us cherry barbs that were aggressive towards each other knowing that we had a small tank, we had to bring them back as they were also hurting our other fish, what a waste. Never coming back.Edit: they also said it was fine to have cherry barbs in a 5 gallon. It was their personal recommendation. Needed a hose they had it, needed a top to replace the one broken from my fish tank. not sure if they wanted to help me. They said they would order it and have it by Thursday so I needed to call them because he did not know if the item would be discontinued. I believe from today Friday to Thursday they would know and i get a call instead of making me wait till Thursday. I the customer would have to call just to find out. Not very good service. Ive purchased over the years here but after this well see but probably would not be my first place to go again.

Didnt see nothing different than you would find at pet supermarket etc. Kinda pricey maybe have better quality but the assistant is great and very informative

They need to work on their customers service. Waiting around too long for help and it seems like they are only interested in you buying something instead of asking questions. Sorry just my experience.

Quality of help certainly has dropped quite a bit. I used to come to this shop exclusively. There were 3 staff members and 2 customers. The guy walked up to ask if we needed help, asked if he could test our water, refused saying they were short staffed yet there was no one in the store. We were there to test the water and buy some fish and plants. Taking my business elsewhere. This place certainly is not what it used to be. Seek an alternative.

Been going to Exotic Aquariums for about one year now. Although there are many fish stores in the area, Exotic Aquariums quickly became my favorite.The staff is extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help. They have a great selection of both freshwater and saltwater dry goods and livestock. Exotic is also the most reasonably priced store in the area and there are always great deals to be found.Overall, I highly recommend checking this place out. Even though you can find stuff online, you can’t put a price tag on the information and help that their staff is always willing to give!!

This local store has been around for a very long time. I would always go and run straight to the clearance bin, but the products are quality and good price, as well as the stock of fish. I purchased wet driftwood for my turtle tank a few years ago, and it still is my favorite decoration I have. As well, the tank and stand was a great deal. I always choose here over a big name retail store to purchase the fish and equipment that I need!

Good sized shop offering a variety of both salt and fresh water fish. Good variety of tanks, substrate, plants etc. They have a great coral selection as well. The staff is knowledgeable, however this place has small parking and can get packed.

The shop has been around for decades, its a good shop, but it could be a lot better. Some of the staff are friendly and others dont appear to take much of an interest in the patrons. This is from personal experience as well as what Ive heard from friends. They have a good selection of fresh and saltwater and a decent display and arrangement of tanks and dry goods. On the flip side, many items are not properly labeled. With a little bit of tidying up this shop could be GREAT. Thats what gets me, theres a lot of potential to make this an excellent shop.

Really nice place took a while to write the review because i wanted to make sure the fish i got there would strive. Before recommending to anyone. The two fish i got there are doing great they are growing eating and are in perfect healthy condition. If your looking for salt or freah water fish this is the place. Staff was really open to helping. Their water was clean fish tanks were clean. Overall a great place.
