There lots of bad reviews for this place. Personally I like it. I’ve never had a bad experience there’s rules for a reason.... to keep everyone safe. I give it a 5.
I called prior to arriving just to check in on what their policies are concerning firearm safety. I was greeted by a pleasant person on the phone and explained to me what I wanted to know. Upon arrival I was asked if I had been there before and I said “yes but it was a long time ago.” I was briefed quickly and had a great experience. If someone is respectful they will be respectful. It is a different kind of range, there is order, uniformity and it calls for your attention. People who don’t like that should not come here. I was very impressed about the eagerness to help from the range officers. Shout out to Jason who helped me get a bad bullet out of my barrel due to an ammo issue. They also have a great gun smith on site named Bob. He was a gentleman and was very knowledgeable.
Went here for first time. They made me watch a safety video which is good not knowing the rules of the place. The ranger where really nice and informative and they’ll be on you if you slack their safety policies so don’t cop a attitude with them if you fall out of line and they call you on it. Safety should always be number one. Their policies are pretty much common sense. Make sure you carry your stuff in bags or cases having weapons without a case just makes it harder on you .. Only down fall i see is they don’t sell live ammo. They also have a clay range nearby . Remember to go early before they open as it got full before 8 am and There was no lanes left and people was waiting in line for open lanes and some was even sharing lanes ...
This place is one of the best places in AZ to shoot your rifle. The officers are strict on safety as they should be, but they’re also super helpful and understanding. These negative reviews about the officers yelling is because people are ignorant and disobey the basic rules. You do not approach the bench during cease fire even for your water because no one knows your intentions. The safety guidelines are there for a reason and there’s no such thing as being too safe regarding firearms. At no point did we feel disrespected or berated, in fact, quite the opposite. The officers were very friendly and joking with us.
Talked with a few Safety Officers that were friendly and interested in the different types of ammo we had but other than that most of them are just failed cops. This place is also overly strict, guns are very dangerous so Im all for safety, but their strict behavior only manifests once they see a minor infraction in which they can become quite aggressive and at the least rude.
My wife came out to shoot for her very first time. No matter what I did to help she couldn’t hit the paper. Range Officer Rob offered to give her some pointers. Within one magazine she was not only on the paper but hitting center mass every shot! The way in which Rob walked her through was the best I’ve ever seen. I’m a retired police officer and have NEVER seen a range officer do what Rob did so quickly. #magicworker!!!!!!
Safe and the staff are friendly for thier age, lol.
Looking for an outdoor range to shoot and sight in my rifles and share my knowledge of gun saftey to my growing son. Upon reading these reviews I will be bypassing this range.
Excellent experience for a first time visitor with my sons. All instructions were clear and maintaining safety was a clear priority. I did not see any aggression behavior, if anything it was the opposite as I saw one RO help a newcomer get used to his new revolver and a few help another shooter with a rifle problem. Overall am well pleased with the price and experience - the only change I would suggest would be to separate the pistol caliber from The larger rifle rounds due to noise, but that wouldn’t deter me from coming back.
My wife and I used to belong to Phoenix Rod and Gun Club, however, 2 years ago we moved to East Mesa. We were going to join Rio Salado Sportsmans Club, but we read a number of bad reviews about rude Range Masters. We finally went out and paid $20 to shoot for the day. What a GREAT experience. First off, Ive never met nicer Range Masters in my life. I even made a mistake by setting my ear muffs on the shooting table during a safe period. The Range Master very politely explained why we dont touch anything on the table during a safe period. The Range Masters helped the both of us all day long to make sure we had a good time. And when we left, they credited our $20 toward the yearly family membership. And comparing this range to Phoenix Rod and Gun club, this one is nicer. It is BY FAR the nicest range Ive ever visited. Thank you guys for a wonderful experience!
First timer today, brought my family, FANTASTIC experience. Yes they have rules and they are strict which is very appreciated to keep everyone safe in what would otherwise be a war zone. The range officers were nice, respectful, and even gave advice on shooting stances and grips.I think lots of the bad reviews on here... people need to relax and realize those rules are in place to keep everyone safe, don’t break them and you don’t have issues. (Though when my mom reached for a gun during safe time, the officers were quick to grab her but also gentle). We will be back and probably buy memberships now!
Great club, with an amazing Sporting Clay course!
This range is awesome! My boyfriend and I are still new to the shooting world, I own 2 guns, but had only shot the rifle once before going to this range. The range officers are very helpful, and polite. Strict safety protocols, but that should be expected! Follow the rules, listen and pay attention, ask for help from the range officers if you need it. The price was perfect too, $10 a person. We love it and are going to make going here a regular occasion. Thank you!
I’m thankful to have read the reviews prior to visiting this establishment. My family and I will past on this location.
Nothing good can be said about the ROs and upper management. Save yourself the trouble.
Ive been there probably 10-15 x and have had a great time, every time. The Range Safety Officers are tough and that is a good thing at a public range.
Frank from the main office turned me away without reason. I believe I was refused service it was on the basis of my appearance as there were multiple groups he allowed through after I had tried to sign in. When I asked for a second time why I wasn’t allowed to sign in he refused me entry. Be wary of this location.
I have always enjoyed coming here, for about 9 years now, but today I was especially grateful for their help. Was trying to get my rifle sighted in for my hunt trip next month and these guys were there to assist every step of the way. They helped me discover and fix (at the gunsmiths which is onsite) a problem I didnt realize I had. They also helped my mom get a little more familiar with her handgun which was also greatly appreciated. I truly commend these gentlemen for their amazing assistance today! There are other areas to shoot here as well and they provide classes certain days/times. I recommend checking out the sporting clays course, it is a blast!
Very friendly staff, and very good prices for sporting clays. 4 traps at each station, buy more targets than you think you’ll use. I bought 150 targets and still didn’t get to finish the last two stations. Got stuck on a few stations, tried a lot of different true pairs to make it interesting.
Great morning at the range! Great group of employees made it even better!
Welcomed to the range, safety video was offered and questions were answered. Nice facility. Range procedures were easy to follow.
Well have been here a few times and not a bad range it gets the job done. But today me and my step son decided to sight in our rifles before a hunt but sadly had to leave before doing so. Me and my stepson have shot here before without issue but not today. I was told after filing out the waiver for me and my son that we would not be allowed to shoot. Reason being that I was not a proper guardian due to me not being his biological father. I was shown a paper stating that a minor had to be accompanied by a guardian nothing about biologically related. Brought this up and was told we would not be allowed on the range. Its sad really, I have read alot of negative reviews for this place and have seen no response from the range itself. They obviously do not care about anyone else but members. Wish I had an alternative closer but guess I will have to make a long drive to avoid nonsense.
Ive been to several gun ranges and never experienced terrible customer service like this. They make you feel uncomfortable. Id rather pay 10X more then step foot on there property.
I have absolutely no idea how a place like this would be rated under four and a half stars. This place has been around for decades and it is one of about three outdoor ranges in the area. The scenery is gorgeous at this facility. You get to see the large Phoenix sign on the side of the mountain! The staff here is friendly and the facility is kept in great order.
Convenient and priced right, but range personnel make the whole experience unpleasant. The whole time you are there, you feel like you are in trouble from the range officers. Safety is important, but so is treating YOUR CUSTOMERS RIGHT! Lighten up and get off the power trip and let people have fun, which is why they are there in the first place.
The sporting clays are fun and exciting. Great atmosphere and a beautiful setting.
Half the lanes are closed (social distancing). Loooooong wait. We sat for over an hour and left.
The range itself is nice. The range officers act like they are looking for a fight. I go out of necessity to sight in before a hunt, but I wont for just to dump brass anymore.
I read reviews prior to coming here and they were very negative so I was a bit apprehensive, but to my dismay the range safety officers were friendly and helpful. Had an awesome experience.
Been shooting here twice. Both times had a great experience! Well organized and like the way they operate the firing line and down range procedures.
Its the only outdoor range Ill go to. Range masters are stringent but its a safe environment. Highly recommend this range
This place is great! So many Range Officers there to help you & keep you in safety compliance. I’m going to become a member!
Good facilities, well maintained range, so what could warrant 2 stars? In short, the Range Officers can be shockingly confrontational and unsafe. I have been here three times, twice without incident, but then had a visit in which 2 ROs where outright aggressive, almost like they wanted me to be confrontational back so they could have a reason. I have never felt so unsafe at a range before, and would not trust any of the ROs if they let the others walk around being openly confrontational with customers. It is completely unacceptable for passive and outright aggressive behavior to be present around firearms, and I will never recommend this range to any friends or family in the future because this incident made me so uncomfortable. Ive been shooting for 16 years and have never seen anything like how these ROs act. Ive seen better behaved children. Save yourself the trouble and just drive up to Ben Avery
Being new to guns I was kinda nervous about going to this range after reading some of the reviews. However, my first experience was nothing short of excellent! The gentleman at the office was nice and helpful as I read and signed the rules and waiver he then had me watch a 2 min video on the protocol of the range, he then followed up with me on any questions I had. I didnt find the range officers to be mean, degrading, or on some sort of power trip at all. Their job is to make sure everyone is following the rules and no one gets hurt, simple as that! I brought a VR80 semi-automatic shotgun with a 20 round drum that was spitting shells all over the place! The range officer quietly came over and put up a cardboard wall to deflect the ejected shells as to not hit the man next to me. overall, I had a great experience and I plan to return many more times! I would highly recommend not listening to the negativity without having your own experience.
Went for the first time today. Everyone was nice. The range officers kept everyone safe. I had a blast! I will definitely be back.
Terrible people! Super rude and blatantly disrespectful! I highly recommend not going here! The range officers are very angry and avoid helping paying customers! It’s $10 to enter and it pays for nothing! Just go to sycamore Creek at least you won’t be treated like trash!
Great place, easy to find and best rates for shooting around...enjoy the Arizona outdoors.
The range officers their were rude to new comers, they bully and belittle those who are new to shooting, make them feel unwelcome when ever they saw fit. I brought three new shooters, none wanted to return again. A bunch of men who think too much of their authority. Terrible beyond words.
Power trip employees that yell because they can. I clearly went to grab my water during a cease fire and got berated. Ill go to another range. Im all for safety but theres no need for that attitude
They provide a safe and professional environment to use firearms. Very reasonable cost for usage of their facility.
This place is cheap and gives you targets to shoot at for cheap as well. One piece of advise. Dont touch the benches during cease fire or they will shoot you!!!!Not really, but it sure feels like it when they scream at you. Oh and they are packing heat.
The range is strict, orientation is required for new shooters, sessions are time controlled, range officers are always watching and help always when asked. Full auto is allowed but only under total control. Special ranges are available for authorized members. Membership is available but not necessary. Members of the public are welcomed. This is really a great shooting facility!
Went for first time today, great experience. Run very orderly and safe. All the rules make sense. Range officers were very courteous.
I love the sporting clay course here. Very challenging and the prices are in line with Ben Avery. There are 12 stations, and most have an easy/mild and hard/spicy mode. So you get a good challenge for any level of shooter.
Stellar range to go shooting always geared around safety which i feel is amazing.Got the yearly membership and cant beat the price on such a great range.Always a great experience and the range staff are always friendly and helpful
This is an excellent outdoor shooting range. You must know your firearms, know how to place your firearms in a safe mode. Safety First is the highest priority at the range
Bad vibes from the range officers. Felt like i was in trouble the whole time. They really should treat their customers with respect and help them learn instead of making them feel like they are in trouble because your new.. wanted to like the place but just feels uncomfortable. I dont think ill ever go back here. Just make the drive to shooters world.
Range Safety Officers are there Because the general population is not competent with guns like they claim to be . Just because your an enthusiast who shoots on the weekend twice a year from your cubicle job does not make you safe with Firearms Nor an Industry Expert . To many people who are merely enthusiast and thin skinned get to easily offended over the RSO ensuring no one gets hurt. If you Dont like it Buy your own land and build your own range, Oh wait than you wouldnt be an enthusiast anymore you wouldnt be on google all offended ! People need to Realize this is a public facility full of public Idiots and security is there to ensure no one gets hurt !!
Took my son to sight in his deer rifle. I had to pay $5 for my son who was shooting, $5 each for my other two kids who didnt shoot, and $10 for me also didnt shoot. They said we were all spectators. 25 dollars for my son to shoot 40 rounds. Range was ok, but come on guys
Drove up, parked, walked up to office.....10 minutes later on my way to Teds!I observed from the lot side of firing line. After watching and listened to the RSOs could not take it....wow.These guys are on major power trips! Had easier time at boot with the DIs in my ear....could not see bringing my kids there, ever. Rude and unprofessional does not come close to the words I want to use but this is for public consumption.Glad I did not give them my money. Range looks great. Guys running place are the wrong people for that job! Rather shoot in the hot desert or spend my cash at Teds indoor range.Maybe they could use some class work on customer relations, and public speaking?
Been here many times. Usually good experience, although you can tell many range officers love their authority position. Todays visit was even more indicative.First, while its the middle of the day in the middle of the week (so its not busy at all), we get berated for parking a vehicle with a small trailer such that it takes up 2 parking spots (perfect fit). Old guy comes running out of the trailer-office to tell us to park way the hell over by the dumpsters where we wont bother anyone. Whatever. The big thing was, the third member in our party, who had never been here before, was turned away by the front office/range officer due to setting his holstered pistol on the counter while filling out the paperwork because the muzzle was pointed toward the parking lot. Were talking about a handgun, slide locked to the rear, no magazine, holstered, resting on a counter. He was told he was a safety hazard and not allowed to shoot today. After taking the day off and driving on his own to meet us there from a long way away.People are just unreasonable with their power trips. Its nice to have a place closer than the wilderness to shoot, but its so much nicer to be able to avoid being hassled for non-issues.
Not kid friendly! When you are trying to re-train your 10 year old child who has been shooting since he was 4. They are rude and insensitive and expect zero defect from a child. My kid made a mistake and one of the range Nazis hung around waiting for another. More lock step than a military range. Cant load magazines during cease fire or dig a water bottle out of a bag. Ill drive 2 hours out to the desert rather than go here with my kid. I agree with safety but some more detailed info on expectations would be helpful.
One of the finest ranges in Arizona. Pistol, rifle, black powder, air rifle, trap and sporting Clays. Very safe for public use. Range officers to help you. Very challenging sporting clays course.
I shot at this range about a year ago. I felt the safety you need to go through was very good. Safety is the utmost important. During shooting the range officers were very nice and they gave me and my daughter some nice pointers and advise. During the shooting breaks it was handle very good and safely. They have a 600 yard range and they ask everyone if they will need to go out and work there targets for what ever reason. They have you wear safety vests when go out to the 600 yard targets. I felt the range officers did a very nice job and they helped me and my daughter 100%. I will be shooting there again when I come back in town. Nice place and very clean. Thank you.
Thanks for all the heads up guys. After reading these reviews Ive decided not to spend my money or time there.
I love this place. Its over shadowed by Ben Avery, but its a fantastic place.Shoot here once, and I guarantee youll be back.
I only came here because I couldnt find any ranges that allowed shotguns. The three times I came I did not like it. Rude and condescending range masters that automatically assume you have no knowledge of firearms or firearm safety. Locals that look at you like you are trespassing, place is a joke, Caswells or Teds Shooting Range is a much better choice. Great staff and great experience at both of these ranges.
Love this place. Everyone who works there is super helpful and friendly. I really like how they control it and take it very serious. As it should be. Best place to shoot in the East Valley. Very affordable to shoot all day too.
Money grab, Was told if I had a membership I could use any other ranges so I wasted a whole bunch of money and then they proceeded to tell me now you had to waste a bunch of more money coming here and participating in all the expensive competition shooting so you can use the other ranges. All that is fine and dandy if you would have told me that in the 1st place.
Great place I meant to give it 5 stars
The women with the rose tattoo on her head thought it was funny to make fun of me because I did not know the paper targets where on the range. The attitude of these people are so lame, it’s not worth my time or money. I’ll just go to teds where the ranger masters actually enjoy there job and have fun!
First time to this outdoor range I must say the ranges are clean & in order also the staff is knowledgeable & friendly this is definitely my new local shooting range.
I have never visited that location yet. But I just paid for a year long membership and will be there frequently from now on. As for folks complaining about rules and Range Bosses. They are there for a reason, basically for safety, and to save lives. If you cant follow the simple commands and rules of a firing range. Then go elsewhere, and good luck. All my experiences at any of the local ranges have always been of great quality and I am glad to have so many volunteers looking out for my and the other shooters safety. Not to mention those guys are a great source of advice, assistance, and they generally have years of firearm experience and knowledge.
Love working here
Clean facility. Nice scenery. The last couple of visits, the range officers have been rude and edgy. I dont want to hear some SWAT wanna be or mad at the world woman, lecture me or anyone else about range safety. I get it, safety is key BUT, I have been shooting for 55 plus years and I have not shot me or anyone else. I want to have fun. I am serious hand loader and I want to test out various loads for accuracy. I am respectful to all those around me. If I make a mistake, just walk over and tell me, but dont get pissed and lecture me!!! TOO MUCH brain damage, I wont be back
Well this place is a joke! Ridiculous rules that have nothing to do with safety. A holier than thou attitude from a bunch of know nothings. They love to demean people for nothing. And the range isnt really all that great either. They have much better ranges in Texas where I am from. If you want to be talked down to by people who couldnt find their own asses without the help of an Indian guide then maybe its the place for you. However I will never waste another dime at this place!
Clean place, well organized but way to regulated. I understand wanting to be safe but this place made me feel like I was back in basic training where you are not allowed to do anything until told to do so. One and done for me.
First time going to the range. It was decent. But Ive been shooting out in the woods all my life. Ive never gone to an official range. This would be a first for me, and a last. I didnt like how they treated you like a jackass because I didnt lock back the pistol. If they were any more strict they would ask everyone to dissemble the barrel and bury it in the dirt. I was new there and the staff knew it, so I had this old fart lording over my shoulder for 2 hours, waiting for me to make one mistake. I dont like being treated like Im stupid, just because Im new there.
The personnel there are complete imbeciles and degenerates. They are overreacting on every little petty thing! The other day me and my friend there got kicked out because during a cease fire he told me something real quick..Range officer came out at us yelling that we are only supposed to listen to their commands and not say even a word to each other... What the hell? It was a damn cease fire and we were 5 ft away from our guns! Those morons running that place thinking that by doing such crap they add safety to the range, but they are terribly wrong, they are adding extra stress to all the shooters. This range is a complete nonsense, do not even bother to step in, Id not get a membership here even if it was free.I have a feeling that idiot officers on this range are something like failed COP or SWAT wannabees...What a joke... If you want a nice range Id recommend Phoenix Rod&Gun Club, so far it seems really nice, officers are normal people there!
The rules are easy, why are there so many complaints? Keep barrels pointed down range and dont touch anything near firearms while people are down range working on their targets. It’s simple!People who complain about this place being too strict are exactly who I wouldn’t want to be next to at a gun range anyway. Been here many times and will continue to go back. I’ve seen the range officers correct folks for not following the rules, but they’re never “demeaning.” Guess some people are letting their insecurities show through the reviews on here.
Best range around in the Phoenix area (besides driving into the desert) is relatively cheap with a $10.00 entrance fee. The range is very safe with skilled and well educate line coaches watching. They can be strict but it is for the safety of everyone who is shooting. Better to be safe then sorry when it comes to firearms
Been going to this range for many years. Safety is my utmost concern. I want all the shooters to be safe. To bad the range staff have very poor attitudes. Belittling us for no reason. At the range Thursday the 11th of April we were among 4 other shooters. When told to ask to get something off the bench when under ceasefire, I asked for a roll of tape, the officer i asked to please hand it to me lost his cheese. An older man was trying to go home with a gun in a closed case. They lost their minds. Yelling and screaming at him. It was in a case.... That will be my last trip, and last donation to their range. I will drive across town to use different ranges where the employees have common sense and decent attitudes. Unreal!
Its not a bad place for a day of shooting if you ignore the head strong rangers. I understand safety is top priority but its a little over the top. And forbid you conceal carry, they will lose their minds.
Beautiful facility. The pistol bays and weekly competition are the best in the valley by a large margin and the regulars are friendly and very respectful. The range officers are not always very helpful but its a safe environment. This is a top notch facility.
Range officer Mark should not be working in this industry or be licensed to carry a firearm. Our experience today was astonishing. A private range has every right to ask people to leave for a violation. However, asking names and knocking weapons out of peoples hands in a panic is not correct. A range officer is supposed to be about safety and calm. Not aggressive, confrontational, anxious, and downright physical behavior. Mark is more dangerous to this facility and the people attending it than any person out there. This man is a liability and is looking for an argument for anything. We were packing up and leaving calmly once he asked, meanwhile, Mark hovers over you and starts asking argumentative questions. He trys to continue the conversation when there was none to be had. He simply was looking for a reaction. This is like a high school bully but he also has a gun strapped to this hip. He didnt get what he wanted today (an argument) and that clearly showed in his demeanor. He didnt like being told he was out of line and he HIMSELF was more dangerous and cause for concern than anything going on at the range. If no stars was possible, Id give it no stars. This is a tremendous liability to go here simply because the staff is misinformed and are not officers. They are a group of old bullies. When a rule is broken, there is a learning opportunity to be had. When you attack people for honest mistakes, you are turning off a lot of potential new potential hobbiests from this recreational activity. You are doing a lot of harm to the community and are putting lives at risk allowing confrontational people to be in positions of power at a shooting range with a weapon. THEY MUST BE THE MOST CALM AND COLLECTED PEOPLE OUT THERE. MARK I CAN ASSURE YOU IS NOT!GO ELSEWHERE!
Im The Waco Kid I Shoot Fastdraw out there. The Staff has always been very Nice and I have never heard one complaint from any of the Cowboy Shooters! I have spoke to a couple Staff members and they were very Kool. So where some of these bad reviews are coming from Im going to question it because I have a totally different perspective. Dusty Farrow The Waco Kid
I think its a great place to spend a few hours price is great staff is great will return again and again
I have been here twice and the staff has been great to me and my wife. Here is a pro tip, however: When a range officer tells you something, even if you disagree with it, just say, No problem and Thanks. If you argue with them, you will get thrown out. Remember that they are responsible for the safety of the entire place, which has dozens of shooters. They dont know you or your intention, so give them a break. Come ceasefire, make your weapon safe, open the action, point it down range, adjust your targets, walk back behind the blue line, and sit and wait. Dont show off, dont touch your firearms, and when in doubt, just ask one of the range officers. They are there to help and keep us safe. Oh, and if you are a crotchety old man or dumb buck, who doesnt like to be hit by brass, go to an indoor range!
I became a member on my first visit. Its a super safe place to shoot, friendly helpful staff who are knowledgeable. Cant wait to gain access to the pistol ranges. Wish they sold ammo!
Just lost some respect for this range. Been going here for 10 years. Comfortable and safe place for a day of casual shooting. Been my go to place to sight in and tune in my firearms after I work on them or a new project gun. Well today been told Im unable to test and break in my two binary triggers (an ECHO and a BFS3).Blows my mind! Am I unreasonable with this thought? The Range is ok with shooting full auto and shooting with a bump fire stock, which Ive done numerous times.Hell!, using a binary trigger is a lot more controllable than a bump fire stock and in some cases, full auto. I dont get the reasoning. Oh well.
The rules are in place so you dont leave with any extra holes in you. It doesnt matter if you trained Rambo or that youve been shooting for a hundred years, the guy next to you doing something thats no big deal is the one you need to worry about. As for the attitude of the RSOs, have people point the muzzle of a firearm at you, repeatedly, every day and see how tolerant you are. Great place to shoot!
My fav place to sharpen and practice shooting...
I have never been scolded by the ROs, but have witnessed them be unnecessary rude and sharp with people. Now some have been deserving of it over safety violations but most should have simply been better instructions or explanations. They come across like they are on a power trip. Some day they may discover positive reinforcement works better than negative when addressing customers with possible safety issues, (power trip).
Great place to shoot! The range safeties are all about their job they are doing their job when they tell people to do things or to not do things other people giving bad reviews about this place is because those people were not following the safety rules or guidelines properly how about you put your big girl panties on and take some structure criticism and or Stern talking-to for doing something unsafe my time in the military was a lot like this on the shooting ranges I was the one running the ranges and would do the exact same thing to someone doing something unsafe so you all need to get over it
I frequent Rio Solado often. Its never been too busy. Its close to home. No complaints.
Used to be a great place to shoot, I was a member for a few years. The last few years the prices for membership went up and the service down. The last two times I went, I tried to sign up to shoot and was totally ignored. Range officers are a joke, they are a bunch of crotchety old men. So avoid this place or go if you like poor service.
Writing this response to Sierra Miller post. Ms. Miller neglected to mention on at least three occasions their group either pointed guns somewhere other than downrange, or pointed a loaded firearm at people! The first time someone in their group pointed the pistol other than downrange, the Safety Officer warned them to keep the muzzle downrange. The second occasion they pointed their gun at another shooter, who gave them about 15 minutes of instruction regarding safety. On the third occasion they pointed a loaded weapon at the Range Safety Officer and he asked your group to leave the range. Sierra; wonder how you would feel if someone you did not know pointed a loaded firearm at you?Thank god you are not coming back to the range that will make it safer for everyone else.Taking classes and all that jazz (your words) is not like shooting, carrying, or being safe with a firearm. You need to learn firearm safety by doing…The range officers do a great job of keeping everyone SAFE at Rio… and the range has the safety record to reflect their commitment.
Fun place. Its outside
Most uncomfortable experience I have ever had! The range was well maintained and clean. I enjoyed the clear cut rules. Although some rules are a little different than most ranges so they could draw a little more attention to them. There was one range officer, I think he was the senior range officer that was just yelling at multiple people, giving advice when unwanted, and just being a negative force on the range. At a time when we need more 2nd amendment supporters not less, I think he could tone it down a bit. I feel his presence actually made it unsafe because everyone was on edge. Including me who spent years in the Corps with multiple expert qualifications. Thanks for the advice on how to shoot though. Anyway, another girl with a ponytail actually came up to one of the shooters and apologized to him saying the other guy has nothing better to do so he takes his job a little too seriously. I didn’t give the range one star because it is very nice but that RO needs to have a little thing in the Corps we called TACT.
I love the interactive shotgun course but the main range itself is complete disarray. The range officers were absolutely rude and so degenerate towards new and experienced shooters. I get that safety is an utmost concern but how its done there is just a joke. Its almost that even if you move a step during a cease fire that they will obliterate you with lectures. Change the attitudes of your employees and maybe Id even like coming back
Great place to sight in your gun. Easy access and the price is right
First time here, took the wife and son to practice with their 9mms and to sight in my 5.56. We had a great time. The rules are straight forward and common sense. Helped sweep up and sort brass and steel during the shooting breaks.
I have been going to this facility for about 5 years and have seen it steadily decline. The RSOs have always been unprofessional, but on a recent visit I saw one of them ragging out a guy for no reason. Safety around guns is paramount, but it isnt about safety with them. It is about a power trip and these miserable old men get off by trying to use their position of authority to dominate someone under the guise of safety. I havent been ridiculed by these chumps, but have seen how they operate and am done going to this place. Go elsewhere unless you want to pay to be treated like a child by a gaggle of insecure retirees.
Every range has different ROs, and not all are created equal. Rio Salados range officers are generally friendly and always helpful, willing to answer questions and offer suggestions while keeping everyone safe. The range is expansive and well laid out, allowing shooting sports of all kinds. Never have I had to wait for a bench, but the facility is generally busy. Keep shooting!
Well maintained and managed shooting sports complex. All ranges monitored and strictly controlled. Wide range of classes offered.
I really enjoyed this club but a range officer Alan Hartman ruined my last experience. He seemed to want to show his metal and teach a certified instructor about how to handle firearms. Keeping people safe is one thing but belittling your guests on purpose to try and show yourself as the Alpha is another. Ill find another range for the future.
The property is nice but ruined by the staff, who hover over new shooters like hawks, making anyone whos not part of their good-ol-boys club feel unwelcome until they can find an excuse to kick them out(and keep their money).Just go to the desert and have fun, rather than wasting your time trying to get on the good side of these people.
This place doesnt even deserve 1 star, they are safe however we had a gun case on the wrong bench and opend it, right after Alan hartman had rushed over and had said I dont mean to be a pain, but i dont like guns being pointed at me reasonably so, the gun was never touched nor pointed at him, he began to yell and try to get physical he was bumping my chest while he had his hand on his holster, mind you i had no wepon of any sort on my person, i had backed up and he continued to walk up to me, words were exchanged told him to keep cool and stay away and that we were leaving, then he had caused a scene acting like he was kicking us out. Needless to say we had no problems with any of the other workers they were great, previous problem that led up to this was when we had a safe break i did not know how to keep the bolt back on the AR so it looked visualy safe, so alan hartman had dont it for me, rudely, so i thanked him for showing me how,
