Our kids enjoyed this playground! There is a lot of open space as well. There are 4 swings, 2 for younger children and 2 regular swings. There is covered seating available and bathrooms as well. The play surface is bark. Well definitely be back!

Love this park, except in the evening there were teens going through the park on their bike in a very high speed, almost ran over a 2 years old

Great place to walk around and get some exercise in. They have a nice long track and bathrooms and a water fountain and of course playground equipment. There’s also a small pond. Overall a lovely little park, can be a bit crowded at times though.

Melissa, thank you for a little history on Gordon Harris Park. My Wife and I moved into our new house across from a field that eventually became Gordon Harris Park. Years after we moved in I watched the park transfer from a weed patch to a beautiful park that is enjoyed by many local families. I walk the park three or four times a day and have enjoyed watching kids use the playground, families bar-b-q, flag football, kite flying, and even my quiet early morning walks at sunrise before anyone is in the park. Im sure Gordon would be very proud if he could see how its enjoyed today.

Kind of a smaller park but still great for just a quick fresh air - park day with the kids. I personally use it for one of my pit stops after grabbing breakfast to-go at Moe Joes and just eating it there while the kids have fun.

Gordon Harris Park was named after Gordon Monroe Harris who along with his wife, Mary, owned a ranch on Eagle Road, next to Thousand Springs Subdivision. The park area was nothing but dirt and tons of weeds when Gordon got the idea that a park was desperately needed for the neighborhood families to enjoy. So he got to work, borrowing heavy equipment from the generous folks at International Equipment as he graded the earth, installed underground plumbing with help from his son, Mac Harris and brother-in-law Wayne Upshaw, built the pond and with help from his sister, Sue Upshaw and his brother, Don Harris, turned in hundreds of old tennis shoes to be ground up into the soft material beneath the playground equipment.Because Gordon did so much of the work, saving the city of Meridian thousands of dollars in labor and equipment, the city decided to name the park after him. Gordon walked to the park almost every day and delighted in seeing kids playing there and people walking their dogs. Gordon died in 2017. He was 89.

Great big open grasd fields for kite flying on a windy day. Dog friendly on lashes. Nice playground for kids, pavilion for parties, and walking path for lappers. Clean restrooms. Drinking fountains. Never crowded. Room enough to play baseball, soccer, football, lacrosse but no official game fields for that. Just huge wide open space. Sand volleyball courts and Tennis Courts adjacent at the high school. Fishing pond also but I never see anyone fishing there
