Nice place. Very clean. Great for night photography.
The park is fine! The connecting trail system is even better. Visited in early December. Don’t let the local negativity surrounding the history of the park detour from the great view of the big Muddy.Definitely make sure to get out of the parking lot by closing, otherwise your vehicle will be locked in a gated parking lot. Doc’d a star because they don’t post that access gates are chained closed.
I went on the 3 mile loop that starts here. It was a great run, however the smell was pretty aggressive (I ran this is Feb). There were plenty of benches and attractions along the route. One of the things I really enjoyed was the workout equipment along the trail. Its great when metro areas invest in the public health side of things and encourage outdoor activities!
It used to be one of my favorite parks to go to and meditate, but the opening of Big River Crossing has ruined all of that. Too many people!
Very clean and manicure park. Beautiful view of the river.
Great views of both bridges and the river.
Great scenery!!! Loved the view
The lights on the bridge are pretty at night!!
This place is a hidden gem and is a great place for quiet serene views of the Mississippi river! The park is tucked away but close to the busy paths and streets of riverside drive. I really like it because its more private and intimate than the other river parks if you prefer a secluded area.
Nice place for a evening walk
Less well-known than Tom Lee, its bigger neighbor to the north, Martyrs Park memorializes those who died while helping others during the 1878 yellow fever epidemic. This park offers a nice view of the river, and it is a good place to park in order to go on Big River Crossing.
The Memphis history marked here is quite interesting. The view is nice. Its a little off the beaten path nut easy to get there and there is a decent walking / running path.
Walking distance to the pedestrian bridge that crosses the river.
Martyrs park is another staple park for me in Memphis. Its beautiful and secluded, with less foot traffic than Tom Lee park. It has great magnolias that can be fun for climbing. I actually have a lot of nostalgia attached to this place. Back in my younger adult/ experimental years, Id come here and climb up a tree or crawl down to the river on the secret path behind the church to smoke a spliff and watch the river crash. I was usually alone and always felt safe even though a homeless man camped by the secret path. He wasnt hurting anybody. Once the river was very wavy and it was super windy. I loved watching the big waves crash into the bridges base. I also remember I would come here and hula hoop for hours back when I was a college kid without real world problems. I hadnt been there in a while and the weather is nice now so I made a stop Sunday. I brought my roller skates with me and had so much fun skating the sidewalk just along this small humble park. I think its somewhat of a hidden treasure. It is for me at least.
Love this park... Been going here for almost 25 years to enjoy the scenery and reflect on life
My in martyrs park this morning was fantastic
Lovely view of the river & Memphis skyline. Close access to pedestrian bridge.
NO lights... Their porta potty is always filty their ground nasty no garbage can... Not enough places to sit...
On the Mississippi River this statue sits near the walkway from the park to the walkway over the Mississippi River from Tennessee to the Arkansas side of the bridge. Real cool as long as you are not afraid of heights. Lol
Had my photo shoot at this place. Fantastic
Park is closed and says open. Disappointed
Great views
Its beautiful. Loved the trail. Its all lit up too
Just relaxing great view of the Mississippi River.
Greath place to start and end a jog. Either go out the parking lot to Big River Crossing or go towards the river and follow the path on to Tom Lee Park. Beautiful views of the river, mud island and downtown Memphis from high up on the bluff.
Enjoyed a nice brunch of a Crab Cake Benedict. Good food, friendly staff. Outdoor seating.
Took away one star because its hard to find. Very pretty park with nice trails. Walk over and cross the river on the bridge
My nieces wedding was there. Nice turn around for the horse and carriage to come in. The park was very shady with the exception of where they set us. Not the parks fault. The grass was very overgrown though. There were a few people there outside of invited guests but I dont think its a very busy park anyway. I think thats why my niece picked it. Not any activities to do with kids there so bring your own games or sporting equipment if youre trying to entertain children. You may can see the river when the grass is cut but Im not sure.
Love it!
Good place to park our car to walk across the bridge. That’s pretty much all we used it for but other than that the park seemed nice
I walk thus strip every chance I get. its just great. Cardio workout .almost 2miles across and back very enjoyable .it should be on everyones bucket list
Very clean well kept. Nice place to take a family
Secluded, quiet park that seems tucked away. Great River view! Lots of termites though. Trees need to be treated, but hey its the great outdoors!
Loved it first time going. So peaceful and the view was amazing.
Its a great family friendly environment that is a great place to walk and have the kids play on the playground.
Clean and beautiful
BEAUITFUL HISTORY! Beautiful LAND &TRAILS
Awesome sauce
Nice place for a walk and good view of the Mississippi
I was born here when it was a neighborhood. The city took the land away by Eminent Domain. I love Martyrs Park and the Harris Sorrelle monument to the Yellow Fever Victims.
I am proud that we have this memorial. Highly recommend for this reason and the view!
There isnt really anything here but a few benches overlooking the river and a memorial to those who died helping those with Yellow Fever. It is a pleasant spot to have a picnic due to the shade from all the magnolia trees and it smells great when they are in bloom. You can also start the Riverwalk here though it doesnt connect to the Big River Crossing. You have to walk out the parking lot to Channel 3 Drive to get to that trail.
Beautiful location quiet serene
Peaceful
Best when the Beale Street Music Festival isnt happening.
Beautiful site lines.
Interesting history the light show on the bridges is great at night...
This park is considered to be a historical landmark because located within is the brief history of Memphis battle of the 5th wave of the Yellow Fever epidemic that took place in the 1800s plus their a statue dedicated to the those that bravely stayed and help those in need during this plague. This time in history had changed Memphis greatly and learning about it is greatly welcomed so one individual can have a better understanding.
I took someone I was friends with and her children here for some pictures and to enjoy the day.
Beautiful place for a wedding
Great park abd views
An historic and lovely place to visit
Was a very enjoyable walk with my mother, niece and 2 daughters..We saw a black racer enjoying the ..beautiful walking path
The best park in Memphis. Is usually quiet and not too crowded.
Nice little shaded area to sit and look at the river.
This is a special place with a great view of the river and now it’s finally connected to the rest of the park system by a really nice Riverwalk
Beautiful Views of The Mississippi River !!!
Good place to park your car if you want to hike accross the Big River bridge.
Nice quiet park on the river thats not well known. Good for getting a piece of mind and learning a little history.
Awesome place for a sunset. Quiet. Place to sit and read or talk with someone you love. Also a great place for a run.
My favorite at this point is Big River Crossing. But then I havent seen all of it. Im looking at the view of the river from martyrs park near Riverside Drive. Absolutely gorgeous.
Beautiful space and wonderful outdoor location
If all the other riverfront parks are overcrowded with KIDDOS and their moms and dads this hidden gem is a wonderful escape
Its close to the Mississippi river and Big River crossing
Would be a great place if it wasnt right next door to the MPD Organized Crime Unit HQ and surrounded by an array of Orwellian eyes in the sky. No thanks.
Shared this afternoon with my grandbaby at Martyrs Park. We love this park . If you come to Memphis its a hidden Jewel you must go see for yourself. The view of the Old Man River is Grand from Martyrs Park
This is a great park to get beautiful views and/or pictures of the river and downtown Memphis. I suggest walking north to what used to be called Ashburn/Coppock Park. You can see the Great River Crossing from here, which is worth walking on. You can actually walk over to Arkansas.
Love the ambience. Great for quiet walking, jogging, dog walking & picnics all along side the river. Great views!!!
Martyrs Park is one of the best spots in Memphis to watch the sunset/rise...plus its right next to the lit walkway to walk across the Mississippi River...Highly Recommend
Checked out the memorial on a run along the river. Very interesting.
Nice park and walking trail with an interesting story. Trail DOES NOT CONNECT to the Big River Crossing trail.
Great park
Beautiful scenery. Its another side of the city not often seen. People of all walks playing and having a good time together.
Its beautiful a park. Check it out if youre local or touring.
Nice place to go and read a book and look at the river. A great place to take our guess
Quiet cozy place to chill
Beautiful view!
Small park at the end of the River Walk. It could be better manicured and cleaned up some. Interesting monument for the Martyrs and a nice view of the old bridge. Out of the way and doesnt seem to be much traffic. Just sort of meh.
Very nice clean and safe Park
Lovely peaceful park.
Nice spot by the rivet
Had a nice walk across the river into Arkansas and back
Very nice too many bugs
Big River Crossing is a great walk.
Beautiful sunsets overlooking the Mighty Mississippi River
