I had such a great time! The campground is clean, quiet, and all around wonderful! We stayed at the campsite next to the host, Robert, and he was so friendly and helpful! We walked the Pond Loop Trail and had a fantastic time. Watch for fire ants though!! The Chucklissa Center and trail were so informative and exciting too. Highly recommend staying here!

Really enjoyed what a park should be. Clean, quiet, friendly. Our 40 coach plus tow car barely fit in the pull through so we unhooked it, which we intended to do anyway. The host was very nice. Our spot #36 was level but we were told some of the others are not, having an incline. Really enjoyed the park and city access was close by.It was built before these huge rigs were popular, so driving into the site was a bit tight. Not horrible. And the laundry room and bathrooms could be cleaner, they werent awful or unusable, they were old. But if thats my only complaint, its not bad. I will be coming back to this park.

Stayed for a weekend while visiting graceland. Site was nice level asphalt pad, but that was about the only thing nice. The smell of sewage was awful. Its located in a terrible part of Memphis and we heard gunshots late at night. Mosquitoes were awful. The camper next to us looked like they were living there and had junk everywhere, and they had a late night visitor on Friday who left their loud car running for about an hour while they talked. Airplanes flew over real low all night long as its near the airport. The grill was broken as were several other campsites grills. We never seen any staff all weekend. I really dont have much good to say about the campground.Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

The park is very quiet. Lots of shade and trees. A big plus. Getting here was a little iffy passing through a pretty rough and dirty area of Memphis just blocks away. The site we were in (32 ft class A ) was easy to back into. We would have rated a 4 star but seems our neighbors live here permanently and the sight they occupy looks like a trailer park, littered with personal belongings, car seats, toys, wheel barrel, you name it...furniture etc. I’m actually surprised the park host allows this. But you can’t beat the price so check it out if you get the chance.

My family started renting the space apart from the gazebos near the pool for our annual outing. The area is spacious; there’s a kitchenette and restrooms. The ranger and other staff members are attentive and polite. Due to the pandemic, we elected to not congregate this year. As soon as this pandemic is over, we plan to reserve the area again.

About the only redeeming quality of this park was it’s location to all the things we wanted to see in Memphis. The park smelled like sewage, so much so that we mostly stayed in our camper when we were at the campsite and it made me nauseous when hitching up the camper. We booked over the phone on our way in and were told which space to park in. The concrete pad had been ripped up and looked to be piled up at the back of the site and a lot of it had been shoved into the dry creek behind our site. Hanging directly over what would have been the pad and where we were to park our camper, a giant tree had fallen onto another tree, had not been cut down yet, and hung about six inches from the top of our camper. The only thing holding up that tree was the other tree. The campsite host was not friendly at all and in fact, came by twice you question us and say he had no record of us being registered. There were PLENTY of open spaces in this campsite and why we weren’t given a safer spot is beyond my comprehension. It’s a TOTAL shame because the location is great, but I’m not going to stay in a sewage dump.

Park is beautiful with lot of camping spots, basketball court, play area for kids, grills and shelters to have picnics. It has a swimming pool too, but looked like it required maintenance.Beware of the trees and insects in the park! I touched a tree in the park and within couple of hours I had itchy rashes all over my body. There were some weird looking insects near the trees as well.If you go to the park, wear protective gear and insect repellent to protect yourself.I haven’t camped there, so can’t comment about camping facilities or safety.

I was very skeptical to make reservations at this park. Although, my husband and I are state park fans the reviews that I read prior to going almost kept me away. Im not a big review writer. However, after staying at this park I felt it was my duty to share my opinion with others. There were hardly any other campers during our stay. They all probably read about the horrible smell that I read so much about. However, during our 4 day stay we smelled a slight odor one evening while walking our dogs. Otherwise, fresh clean air.The campground was very well kept and clean. Checking in was simple just go to your assigned spot. And, the camp host will stop by or you can get set up and drive over to the visitors center. There are 2 routes in and out of the park. One through an industrial area and the other through a neighborhood. We took both and had no issues with anyone or anything. This campground is in the perfect location for visiting Memphis! The bathhouse was nice and warm. Very clean. With individual private showers. However, if you shower at night the light is on a timer and will kick off during your shower. I just opened the shower door and moved till it came back on. Like I said there were only 4-5 other campers in the whole park. So, I had the bathroom to myself.I actually had to use the washer and dryer while there. $1 each...nice! Also, very warm in the laundry room. And, are you ready for this?....an ice machine. Free ice like at a hotel. First that I have ever seen in all my travels.Im glad I took a chance on this park. I will definitely stay there again! We were in site 39. Nice big, level site.

Small park, gravel sites, filthy playground. The spot we were in, right behind the showers/restrooms, had a terrible odor. The restrooms were ok. The free showers were nice but the timer on the lights seems to be set for every 10 minutes so I’m thankful I had my daughter with me when I went to shower or else I would have been showering in the dark. No movement from the shower area would turn them back on, you had to be out by the sink. Odd. We probably won’t stay here again but in a pinch you can certainly make do.

Recently had a two night stay at the park. I will say the last five miles to the Welcome Center looked like a 3rd world country. Terrible with boarded up homes, trash everywhere, just dismal area but then you reach the park. On check in I met a very nice lady who was very helpful and graciously answered every question we had. Drive on to the park was nice and when we finally arrived I had to say I was pleasantly surprised. The sites/RV park are well laid out with the bath house centrally located. In the building was also a laundry room ($1.00 for washer and same for dryer) and ice machine. The individual sites are nice and ours was level. From the park you have about an 7-10 mile drive to Graceland and Elvis Presley BLVD.The downside to the park is the bath house. No air or fans and the windows are not opened. What this means is its hotter inside than out. No surprised then by the mildew throughout. Also, not the parks fault but bugs were out in mass - whenever we were at the park we were inside. There was a camp host who made regular trips through the park and whenever he saw us, would ask if all was ok and if we needed anything. The three stars are based solely on the state of the bath house.

Great trails here that are more technical than Shelby Farms or Shelby Forest. More dramatic elevation changes, more roots and rocks. Good for a challenging hike. Right now, parts of the trail are impassable because of downed trees from a storm. Not the best place to go if it’s rained that week: The mosquitoes and spiders are worse here than any other trails in the area. I’m on trails a lot, but the last the I was there the bugs were so bad, I turned around and headed home 20 mins into the hike.

We camped here for a week. The park is great but sits between refineries on one side and poverty on the other side. It is 10 min. from Graceland and 20 min from Beale st and National Civil Rights Museum. There were few restaurants, movie theaters or grocers. There is a slight smell from the refineries or whatever those factories are. The park is kept up very nicely. I would recommend it for day use or an overnight stay. There is also a prehistoric native American site you can visit and learn about the BC use and AD use. Hot showers, laundry and ice machine.
