Played here for the first time in early October. Paid $62 for 18 w/ cart. Range was included which was a nice touch. Played with a 3 of my buddies. We’re all 15-20 handicappers. Condition of course was alittle disappointing. I realize it was the end of the season, but fairways and greens had patch areas that you would not expect for the price we paid. Pace of play we slow on the front. We were behind some hackers that slowed us to a 3 hour and 15 min front 9. Luckily they didn’t play the back and we finished the back in 2 hours and 15 min. Also I group behind us that was blasting music we could hear from 100+ yards away. Not the courses’ fault I know. It had just rained so Greens were soft but blazing fast. All in all, the course presented a tough challenge with plenty of hazards, elevated greens, and tricky holes locations. But was definitely most disappointed with the patchy areas. If you wanna pay $60+ for a nice course, go to boulder creek
This course is definitely not for the novice or amateur golfer!!! Im basically a new golfer because I havent played in years and just recently began playing again. There are a couple of obstacles that you cant play around so expect to lose some balls. At the time that I went the driving range was included in the place and that was a nice surprise!!! But, as stated earlier if you dont have a solid golf game, you should probably expect a day full of lose balls and frustration!!!
Shale Creek was a excellent golf course, just watch out for the cow manure smell late in the season. The bar is nice and the beer is good.
Nice course. Not for walkers as there is huge distance from green to next tees. Good layout but greens could use some TLC. people are fixing ball Marks on greens so getting pockmarked
Greens were fast but lots of ball marks. Course in good shape
Good layout, however, very average condition of course for Mid October. Not worth the $54 price tag. Too high for a weekday for this condition.
Way overpriced since new clubhouse went up. But course is nice
Fun golf course in pretty good shape, especially considering rains within past week.
Shale Creek is one of the areas top courses. Reasonably priced.
Great coarse, little slow ranger needed to visit more often
Nice golf course and a freindly staff.
Have never been here, so not sure but seems to pop up and dont even know the place. Thought it was on Hamilton Rd but had another name
Ate supper after the guys golfed. Several of us had prime rib and it was a nice cut nicely prepared. Medium was very red, so order accordingly. The brussel sprouts were very good. I hope more people go here for meals than that evening
Excellent golf course and restaurant!
Ok so Im not gonna lie...Ive never actually played the course. But Google thinks I have because I work close to the course. I am a golfer and I see the track all the time! I would absolutely love to play here!!! Its freaking beautiful and lovingly maintained.
Landscaping is very nice, but it could use more trees. Surrounded by houses. The clubhouse and employees were all nice.
One of the best courses around, service is amazing... At the pro shop. Donna is the best kind hearted person ive met... shes perfect for golf!!
Probably in my top 3 courses to play in NE Ohio. Always in phenomenal condition and well designed.
Greens are like putting on granite beware
Got rained out but was given a rain check for 9
Course is in beautiful shape. Everything from the fairways to the greens and even the ponds are beautiful. Great course. Great staff.
Challenging course always in great shape. Staff are very welcoming. Food is good as well.
Beautiful Layout... Great Service... love the sneaky Greens.. Lol.... enjoy
Golf balls are like eggs........they’re white....sold by the dozen..... and a week later you have to buy more :) Tremendous staff here!!
The 10th hole isnt marked well for first time players. And the proximity sensors on the golf carts are annoying. The course is decent, and Id play it again, but the items i mentioned are annoying
Great challenging course. Very nice clubhouse with great food
Excellent and well maintained course. Great experience.
Two thumbs way up. This course is in great shape, and puts up a fight. Fairways and greens were immaculate. The greens were fast but fair. I shot an 83 and felt like I accomplished something as a weekend golfer. The clubhouse is nice and has a patio overlooking one of the greens. This is a sister to the Quarry. Id say Shale is more of a challenge though not as pretty. It can be pricey so I would recommend looking for a GolfNow deal.
In great condition, even after the rains this course dried out wonderfully. Challenging holes, and a chance to use every club in the bag.
Doesnt drain well (it had just rained the day before). Nice course, a little on the pricey side. Nice clubhouse. Staff was friendly and attentive.
Have had 5 huge parties here, great food, great service, beautiful venue.
Love this course. Well maintained, challenging, and good rates for the play you get. Greens are usually true and well maintained. Friendly staff and patrons alike.
Its a must see and play
Driving range is priced by the hour rather than by a bucket size and for $10 an hour its an amazing deal
Awesome course
Good shape greens a little slow
Greens rolled true and were in excellent shape Course is in great condition
A great place to enjoy golf with anyone.
Great place to play well maintained even when wet
Favorite course in north east ohio. Always a good time.
Let me start off by saying I hardly ever write reviews and I dont like to trash local businesses. I went here for an even tonight at The Ganite Grill which was $30pp. It included dinner and a show. Dinner was supposed to start at 7pm and the show was from 8-10pm. We did not get our food until almost 8:30 and when we got it, it was cold. The table behind us, sent their food back. There were 3 servers for about 100 people. The servers were inattentive and unknowledgeable. 4 tables around us had their meals comped. Even after the management comped one of our meals, they still added a 20% gratuity for two people. Leaving our server a big tip for horrible service. For what we paid, we could have had a much nicer dinner with much better service, somewhere else.
They have some of the nicest people. They even take time out of their day to respond to other reviews I am impressed.
Course was decent, greens were a little tore up, but puttable. Got charged $14 more than i was told on the phone. Also would like to thank the honest person who found my ball retriever and decieded to keep it. Will not go back.
Used the driving range $10 unlimited calls, pretty good deal.
We came back after we heard that the chef has changed the menu and changed and we were pleasantly surprised that the food is very good and the service was just as good
Great golf course
Great golf course.
I lived in medina for a little while and I enjoyed this track very much; I’m used to pine dunes in Texas so this was fairly similar just way less sand.
Nice greens. Hidden Medina treasure.
Course was in great shape. Love the electric carts with course GPS!
Awesome
Great corset, failcility, and food
The course is immaculate.
Great friendly service
Top 5 Cleveland area public course. Long course, challenging in places but not overly difficult. Nice practice range with complimentary practice balls to warm up.
Great condition. Great price on Golfnow.
The bartender was rude, inconsiderate, and had a smart mouth. The food was horrible. Wont ever go back
Nice golf course!
This is a links style course, maintained well but is fairly expensive for a round.
Great shape. Fun course!
Great course, very well maintained. Friendly staff and excellent food.
Trivia on Thursday night! Friendly service, great food! Plus the sunsets!
Some nice holes. Lot of blind shots. Lot of homes along the fairways.
Wonderful course layout.Beautiful club house.Very friendly staff.
Beautiful course. Too bad the people who golf there cant seem to actually golf. I pull 20-50 balls off the neighboring turf once a week.
Wow! This is such an awesome course. Great course conditions, great lines, and overall difficulty make this course the best in Medina County. Come out and play!
The staff is great, especially Rob who always go above and beyond. Course is always in excellent shape - any time of the year!
Had a wonderful time at an event hosted here. It was a beautiful place with fantastic staff
Beautiful course with fast, complex greens and fairways in nice shape. I think its one of the best in Northeast Ohio. Its sister course The Quarry is also fantastic.
Great course, friendly staff and weekend rates after 4.
I played shale creek on a Tuesday morning and wasnt very excited. Id heard great things about the course. It cost me $54 with a cart.On arrival the staff were very friendly and polite. I really like both the starters.I started on the back 9 which is fine I said I was more than happy to. The course looked in great shape. I felt good and it was a perfect morning.I teed off and put it down the middle and thought this is gonna be a good day. I really wanted to play well here and had been looking forward to it.NOW THE BAD STUFF!On my approach shot one of the grounds men was behind me driving around dropping blobs of foam. I thought hell shut off his engine when I approach my ball. I took a few practice swings and hes still driving around maybe 40 yards behind me. I hit my shot but he drove around through my whole shot. Very off putting and not what Id expect, especially after the very professional greet you get upon arriving. The next hole a gentlemen let me play through he was very nice. On the 3rd ( 12th ) the same grounds men was laying this foam around the tee area. I hit my shot off to the right ( in play but I was slightly annoyed) I went back to my bag pulled out another ball and looked at him. He pulled to one side and shut off engine like you he should have 2 holes ago. From there the next 6 holes were great. Good pace of play and course was great. Really enjoyed it. I made the turn after 1 hour and I was 1 under par.Now the real fun stuff happened. I came to the club house the starter said you can go right out. I said thank you sir and off I went. The first hole is fairly short. I walked onto the tee and there were 3 older gentlemen infront of me. 1 on fairway and 2 off to the right in the rough looking for balls. They got onto the green finally. I hit my t shot, chipped and 1 put. I got to the next hole ( 2 par 3) they were still on the tee box. I watched them tee off they got in their cart and drove away. I did this for the next 7 holes. I was behind them every single hole watching them tee off. The ignorance and shear rudeness of these people completely stunned me. I got to the tee box pretty much the same time as them every hole. Now I understand not everyone plays quick and being older I dont expect them too, but to say sorry would you like to go through???? I would have been out of their way in less than 1 minute they wouldnt have seen me again.I feel like shake creek has to take some responsibility for the players on the course. They should talk to golfers just before teeing off about etiquette and avoiding slow play. All the starters would have to do is say please try and avoid slow play, if you are caught by other players and especially if you are a group and get caught by a single, please allow them to play through.I did like the course but my back 9 was completely miserable. I didnt even play 18. I picked up my ball after 17 holes and just drove back to the club house. So 8 holes took 2hrs 30 mins. The front 9 took 1 hour.I would like to play here again as I thought it was a nice looking course but my first experience has really put me off returning.
Excellent salad and the staff isexcellent
Long day cart path only.check before you go.
Facility was very nice, however the food was typical bar fair.
Great layout. Greens a little bumpy. In joyed it only paid $25.00 18 and cart on golf now.
Love the course but service in the clubhouse bar is some of the worst I have seen. Course should get 5 stars and restaurant should get only one!
A course you can play often, good pace of play.
Best links style golf course in the area.
Amazing good and great service.
Free driving range with round. Not too expensive.
Course is in great shape and greens are rolling smooth.
Great course and setting.
