This place was a big disappointment for us. We drove over an hour to get there and it was closed. Looked like it has been closed for a long time. 3 or 4 other visitors showed up while we were there proving that their website is not up to date. They are closed, dont waste your time.
We love the railroad park. All ages can enjoy it. They are open to the public on a limited basis. Most all the times we have been there are for a private party or gathering. We went to a church BBQ there on Saturday where there were probably 200 people in attendance. They are also a great activity for Birthday parties or family reunions. They have multiple scale trains to be seen. There is a great train ride that our kids ride almost nonstop while we are there. The clubs are super friendly and love trains.
Great place to learn anything railroad! Riding Live steam trains, Garden scale layout, and a renowned HO scale operating layout!Visit the Save The Railroad Park Go Fund Me
Looks like a great park for trains. Unfortunately it seems to be closed and the outside is full of hobos. Every time I come here I bring a few ham sandwiches to distract the hobos so I can look at the park.
I used to go here all the time as a little kid. Now that I’ve been there recently, it’s all still really fun. This seasonal organization is all volunteer ran. Free admission, and free trains rides, though donations are highly appreciated. You also have the chance to learn about fun history in Rail Roads in the cabooses. Highly recommend going when it opens.
I loved coming here as a kid.
It has a vast complex of Rail Road attractions. I went to the Model Club and had a great time learning and experiencing the layout.
Always sad to see them close for the off season. Such warm and passionate individuals sharing their time and knowledge with the public and all without pay as they are all volunteers! Would highly recommend to anyone, young and old alike.
This is my favorite place to take my granddaughter and was my favorite place to take my son when he was little. Its the best!!!
This place was great! Free admission, awesome train rides and tasty hot dogs. We had so much fun here and barely spent any money, making it super easy to give a generous donation. Dont lose out giving your kids this awesome experience! This place is a must see and will quickly become a regular on your to go list.
Just looked up place to check out did not actually go but maybe next time Im up there
This is such a fun and creative place! My 3 y/o loved it! Between the train rides, being able to ring a bell, hand on activities, watching miniature trains, learning about different trains. And all this is by donation only!!! They have a restrooms and some food for sale. There is not much shade there so make sure you go prepared. We spent 3hrs there and still didnt see everything. They are open every 2nd and 4th Sunday from 11-3.
When does this park open??? This is my fifth time here and never was I able to enter..It’s either closed or “not open to the public..for a private party”!!!!Only one time it was open on a Sunday, but I couldn’t find a spot to park my car because all Medford was there apparently! It had great reviews but I never was able to take my daughter there and see how nice it is..my daughter got disappointed and upset five times
Really fun place to take the kids for a family outing. Free to get it but I urge anyone who visits to donate as its getting harder to keep it going every year. Anyway its really fun to ride the trains through the park and there is a huge model train exhibit. Food and drink prices are reasonable. Try a the hamburgers by the front entrance. Very tasty.
Creepy as hell at night, but provides a bunch of homeless people with a place to lay their tired heads
Very cool place to take the kids. Wish it was open more often! Quite fascinating for the kids. They have a thomas the train to ride for the little ones as well as another for all adults and kids.
The kids really enjoy this place, and it’s hard to beat since it’s free.
Nice place to eat lunch.
Kids love to be able to check out, ride and learn about the trains
This is an awesome free activity for the kiddos! Just remember to donate so we can keep enjoying this!
Homeless are all over this railroad part sleeping on the greenway cool to look at the old school railroad carts
Best place to take my son! Fun for adults as well. Miniature train rides are awesome! And its free!!! Ran by volunteers, so I always donate to keep the place going
This is a gem of a park. You dont need to be a train enthusiast toenjoy a day here. The details are incredible.
Fun place to take the little ones. Free to boot.
It was fun. The kids really enjoyed themselves!
It was great. We took our grandson. I have never been there. We want to say Thank you to all the volenteers.
Love this park to pop in and have lunch away from it all. Its nice.
We were hoping this would be a good place to stop with our daughter on the way home from Oregon... but it’s a homeless encampment so I’m not really sure about all the rave reviews
Try to come through here once a yr just to keep up on all the fun updates. This is great fun for the whole family
Great Private tour. The volunteers are excited to preserve the history of the western railroads....great rail cars, cabooses and an old engine being restored. The childrens RR park is trenendous. No tax dollars to support the park. Purely alive based on donations.. we had a wonderful visit...
Grandkids had a lot of fun in a small place.we all loved it. Thank you
Love this park! Most of my kids do, too. Though my daughter with special needs finds the smell of the fuel too strong and the engines too loud. Not for everyone, but their private parties are so enjoyable.
This place is so much fun and tailored to all ages. If you are looking for something to do with your family, then you need to check this place out.
It was awesome set up and children a d families were enjoying themselves.
Very interactive donaton based park. Friendly outgoing club members are available to educate and demonstrate railroad park attractions.
Super friendly people that were eager to show us around! Highly recommended!
The kids had a blast, best auntie day ever!
You need to take your kids here if you live in the rogue valley! The train rides are long (except for the toddler Thomas ride) and its a fun and free experience for the whole family. Just plan on bringing a couple of bucks to donate to help keep the trains running and for a snow cone or snack.
A perfect day for your train-loving family! There are mini rail rides for everyone. Lots of other small attractions, from going into boxcars and ringing bells to watching delightful scale models with familiar engines like Thomas and friends and the Hogwarts Express! Arrive at least 15-20 minutes before opening to get a parking spot. Totally free, donations appreciated (and it has suggested donations for each ride). Will go frequently!
Great fun amazing track. Lots to see on the train route
Most under rated attraction in the Rogue Valley. Free admission... But is entirely volenteer funded. Remember that each and every activity in the park belongs to a different group; I highly recommend to bring a stack of one dollar bills and tip everything you enjoy. Especially deserving are the two old gentlemen who sit in the snow plow and caboose on the Northside of the park - these two guys tell a mean story and have a great way of talking with the kids. They each should earn at least 3 bucks out if your pocket if you take the time to talk with them! Open 2nd and 4th Saturday of the summer months. Be prepared to walk a bit... The parking lot can get awfully full. Good time had by all!
One of the best things to do with kids in Southern Oregon!
I thought it was a great place for familys. My 3 yr old son loved it.
Needs to be brought back to life!!
It was fun going there, the trains where nice owo. But I didnt enjoy AlOt -w-
Great place for the family and very reasonable prices for birthday parties!
Private party with the place to ourselves. Unlimited train rides. It was very fun!
Seriously a great place for both families and train loves to visit
Free train rides, model trains, actual rail cars that you can get in, very nice people. please leave a donation because it is all free!
Grandson is a huge train enthusiast. The excitement he felt at the Railroad park was contagious from the moment we arrived. We will for sure be regulars tbere.
Awesome relaxing park with monthly rides on trains. They have a railroad museum which is aft by local members of the train Club. It connects directly to the greenway bike trail which includes Ashland all the way to Central Point.
I always enjoy going here, there are fun things to do and to look at for all ages.
Cool place, 4 different model railroad clubs here, from HO to the larger ones, 2 sundays a month great place to bring the little ones they can see the real train cars and run around
A great place for families to have fun. The place is ran by volunteers. They do a great job. Thomas the train is so fun for the kiddos to ride on.
I cant believe this place is free. Its awesome. Please donate generously. These volunteers are wonderful... and always friendly and fun. Hamburgers are simple yet good... Helpful to not have to bring lunch with us (although fruit & veggie & water & sunscreen are good to keep on hand.) Kiddos are super active here! 3 train rides, play structures, a train that kids can control, museum-ish areas, real trains to explore and tons of miniature trains to mesmerize all ages!
So much fun to ride the trains and thers so many little things to look at. Wish it were open more but its kept open only by volunteers and donations.
Great place to visit and take kids of all ages on a train ride
I know the rail road park has no control over the people around the park but, the transit activity was too high for me and my family.
Something that restores your faith in humanity. Thank you guys for making an awesome park, my son and I dont miss a week when youre open.
Great place, lots of history. Kids love it.
We love this place! Great for kids! So thankful for the volunteers who keep this park running.
Great place to spend the afternoon with the kids..ITS FREE TO GET IN...awesome volenteers..and some realy friendly people. Snacks and drinks available at reasonable prices..my kids love it...please donate when leaving because thats how this incredible train attraction survives
It was closed. It seemed cute. Idk much about it. I guess if youre into trains you might dig it.
They removed the picnic tables because of homeless. Dont want to give them or anyone elses a place to sit. Whats next remove grass but in shards of glass. Thank you Medford City leaders. Jokers
We love this place and have been visiting for years. It can be hard to keep up with their hours though, so here they are right from their site:It is open to the public on the second and forth Sundays from April through October between the hours of 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM.That said I couldnt agree more with the reviewer who reminds us that we need to appreciate this wonderful FREE park that runs on donations and volunteers. :)
The best place I found it was a birthday party it was very reasonably priced the rented spot. I could not find a birthday party under $100 I only paid 30 bucks for my reservation and Im definitely going to hold it there next year as well
A wonderful place going to return with great grand son.
Very elaborate and well done outdoor model railroad exhibits. Great for kids! Garden RR rides. Several historical, full-scale railroad cars including a Willamette geared locomotive -- in process of restoration -- and small museum. Definitely worth a visit. Limited hours, so plan ahead.
Beautiful club and park losts to aee
Great place to take the kids
Great adventure for the kids and adults alike. Even my 14 year old son had a great time on the trains, as did his friends who were also worried about looking cool.
Parking was intense, but the park itself was wonderful!!!
Sweet volunteers, amazing atmosphere for kids & families.
What an amazing place for kids (and adults) of all ages! I cant believe its a donation based park. What a wonderful place with amazing volunteers. Wish I had known about it years ago. Please donates a decent amount every time you visit to keep it running and improving! I went with my kids and parents and we all had a blast.
Only time its worth goint is the 2nd and 4th sundays to take kids for the train... Its full of extremely rude meth users... Needles laying around and people trying to attack others... If you go... Dont EVER go alone.. STAY SAFE
Always enjoyable family fun.
Its an ok park but not to safe for kids alot of homeless hang out there
The kids love it. Its a little hidden treasure.
The kids and adults in our family LOVE this place! Excellent place for family outings..You can also rent the park for birthdays, ect. Super fun!
Great place dont forget to donate
Free fun and educational place to take the kids
Great family park on 2-4 sundays
Great park and service for families and kids.
This is a MUST-SEE! Perfect family outing. Great people, wonderful train ride for ALL sizes and abilities, creative train displays and even full size train cars to explore.
This is a hidden gem in Medford. So fun and exciting!
This place is amazing, especially with young children. It does have limited hours (second and fourth Sundays of each month, April through October) but it is staffed completely by volunteers, its completely free (though you really should donate what you can because we want it to stay open) and its so much fun. Mini trains to ride on, huge model train display including Thomas area and so much more. More details on the city of Medford website. We go as often as we can with our toddler.
Full of vagrants using drugs, which is sad becuase when i very young I have faint memories of that place being so nice and busy. Now it feels more of a ghost park next to the greenway where there is even more vagrants living next to the toxic bear creek. Whst happened to Medford? Now its more or less called methford... Sad that the place I grew up has turned into a cesspool of drug addicts.
So much fun taking the kids here! Then years later I was able to take the grandkids too! Love it!
Looks nice from the outside, but hard to determine when its really open. It wasnt when we went by.
One of the many great places to play Pokemon GO. Unfortunately it is a place where the homeless frequently hang out but, I have never had any trouble with anyone.
Fun for all ages.
