If you’re new to Marquette, then you should grab your swim trunks and make a stop here to jump off the black rocks. This is an iconic place in Marquette. The water is almost always cold, later in the summer is best for warmer (but still cold) water. Every time we pass through Marquette we stop and make this jump and its always fun and worth it! Its breathtaking (literally) so you dont want to miss this.
Rocks were warm and fun to walk over and jump off of. It was entertaining watching everyone jump into the cool water and has several jump off points for different levels of boldness. Worth the short walk over- just make sure to park in a spot- we parked along the road near the pavilion in line with about 5 other cars but got a parking ticket- seemed unreasonable. Otherwise, a nice trip.
The black rocks are a must see when in marquette. Follow the signs for parking and if there isnt any room at the Black Rocks, go a little further to Sunset Point and there is additional parking. Bring a swimsuit as its certainly exciting to jump off the rocks. Pictured is the spot where you can swim to to get out of the water. This would be a great place to launch kayaks too!
Beautiful scenery. Crystal clear water. The jumping point is at the end of the cove you see when you first drive in, but the entrance is further down, to the left, through the trees. I made the walk in flip flops but I was also very careful about where I was stepping. The further out you go on the cliff, the deeper it is. For reference, a lady of typical height (55, 56) jumped from a spot about halfway out and she said she touched bottom. There is a small area towards the cove on the same side as the cliff where you can get out of the water and not have to swim all the way in (which means you also dont have to walk all the way around to get back again).
Boy oh boy do I wish Id found this place sooner. First time visiting Marquette after coming to the UP for several years. Presque Isle is stunning and if youre hoping to swim, the point offers cliffs to jump from and inlets with tumbling stones and that crisp, blue, lake superior water! Excellent views and trails, too!
This is definitely a must! You can explore a lot of the ragged coastline and get out on the big rock formations with regular shoes but to get the best experience bring along high true hikers. There are rugged walking paths and nicely paved paths. Lots of places to pull off for those who need to stay in the vehicle and a road for cars with truly stunning views. Even though you can drive the same area you would explore by foot... trust me GET OUT OF THE CAR! this was the most beautiful place I have ever been in Michigan!
Lots of people, but gorgeous area. Our group had so much fun jumping from the cliffs. There were a lot of people around, but we felt it easy enough to find our own space. Lots of little rocky beach areas as well where you can set up and get in the water if jumping from the rocks is not your thing. The views are beautiful!
This is really cool! These are way more volcanic rocks than most of ahywere else in the area. You can see really amazing views just a small way away from your vehicle. Or, you can climb out onto the rocks. The park has a really clean restoom at the far end of the loop. It was a cold and blustery day, and it felt nice to warm up for a sec.
Something you wont see any other place!!! Youll love it. In the summer people jump off the cliff into Lake Superior !
The kids absolutely loved the cliff jumping! Very popular spot. Was a little confusing getting to the spot where you jump from but after asking a few people, figured it out relatively easily. Gorgeous views with a great walking path, some of the best views youll ever see up north, even if youre not going for the cliff jumping factor I highly recommend!!
Sweet little cove with plenty of areas to jump and swim. If thats not your thing than just chilling on the cool rock formations is nice too.... PS. follow the parking signs DO NOT PARK IN NO PARKING ZONES I was dumb and followed the crowd being probably the 50ith ticket in line
What a beautiful stop in Presque Isle Park! It’s a great place to watch the waves or sit and relax or to explore. I just love it here.
Great place to experience Lake Superior near Marquette. Some faces of the rocks are suitable for jumping into the lake, of course at your own risk. Always check the bottom for adequate depth. Great place to see the sunset.
Favorite local spot for jumping in to Lake Superior. Caution when strong waves are present as people have been swept away and some were never found. Beautiful view from nearby sunset point.
Its a really nice place. Should have a better play ground for the kids to play like they do have lower harbor
Awesome rocks to walk and climb! Cant wait for summer to jump them! Its beautiful place to watch sunsets.
Such a beautiful, picturesque gem! So many photo ops here! The sunsets are simply breathtaking. These views are gorgeous! I look forward to visiting again & again!
Love this place, kids love jumping off the rocks ...too coldfor me though
Looks unearthly, could have been a lava flow. If you dare you can take a jump off the cliffs. 12 high.
Absolutely beautiful and the rocks are easy to manage.
Beautiful spot, great fun to jump off into lake superior! Seems they close the drive during the day in the summer, so be prepared for a mile walk.
Guess I expected more. Still pretty.
Always a classic destination to take a short break and enjoy the beauty.
Cliff jumping is awesome. Even in September wont feel cold. Must place to visit.
Magnificent shorelines. I loved the atmosphere of everyone jumping off the rocks and everyone watching. Beautiful place to swim around and adventure.
Wear a lifejacket! They have them.*Heard a lot of people get ticketed when theres an influx of people, I suggest biking to the park. They have good bike routes in Marquette. Also, no dogs allowed.
We werent brave enough to jump because the weather and water was cold, but looks fun and rocks were still fun to climb with a nice view.
Fun place for families! The cliff jump seems small, but when up there its scary. Fear certainly takes the cold from the water away. Lol.
Love this area! Beautiful area, so much to see! Would definitely recommend adding it to your things to do!
Beautiful as always! Tadpoles and froglets in the pools on the rocks.
Great place! Make sure to check the hours or be prepared to walk back to the rocks!
Beautiful sight, especially in early October!
Would recommend anyone to visit this natural attraction!
Beautiful as always! Forever one of our favorite stops to make while in Marquette. Nice little cruise or a quiet place to watch the sunset. If youre lucky youll see some critters, on a weekday its usually not too overcrowded.
Great place to walk around the lake and enjoy the beauty of the park. Take the trails!
An amazing place to spend the day exploring the island trails, swimming, and picnicking
Gorgeous sites, beautiful landscapes and the magnificent Lake Superior. Everything was perfect
I am in love with this place. Thought I was going to die when I just but thankful I tried! If you are not a strong swimmer, I would suggest a life jacket. Although, I am traveling by myself.
Such a cool place and we even jumped from the cliff!
Such an awesome place to enjoy the beauty of creation and have fun with the family! The kids loved jumping off Black Rock!
Beautiful scenery and not a difficult hike onto the rocks. Great place for photography at sunset, picnics, and theres even a ledge to jump from!
Just beautiful! This place was amazing!
Fun experience here jumping into the water! Beautiful views all around the area. There is not a designated place to change clothes so come equip in swim suite!
Gets busy on weekends. Scarce parking spots but dont worry. The walk is scenic.
So much fun! Cold, but you only live once.
Cliff jumping was amazing! Water was cold, but not unbearable.
This is a Must Stop to appreciate the UP and Nature. Love this place
Perfect place to take pictures to prove you have left the house in the past year.
Packed with people. Way too crowded! But it was a hot mid day.. So I get it, just wasnt fun with so many people.
Tons of fun. Amazing water and rocks
Great beer, great atmosphere. Beautiful outdoor seating.
We visit every time we are near.. beautiful
Park and walk up the pier and then hiking back to this spot is a must. Amazing views of the water and super fun to climb down the black rocks and go in the water!
Amazing nature walk and the veiws are amazing
Amazing landscape. A must see for everyone, however as a RN who has taken care of spinal cord, traumatic brain, and multi-fractured trauma patients I cannot stress enough how dangerous jumping from black rock can be. Just go and enjoy the beauty.
Went cliff jumping earlier today. Water was so warm and overall great place to visit for a holiday weekend
Awesome place to jump into lake superior. A bit cold though. After a few times you get used to it.
Beautiful rocks! Jumped off a cliff and slightly injured my arm here. 10/10 would jump again
Beautiful place and so cool on Lake Superior. My wife and kiddos loved it and we got to see some cliff jumpers too. Seemed cold to me, but they were doing it anyway!
Cliff jumping, beautiful views, nice walking paths. Would recommend if ever in the Marquette area!
Cliff jumping, rock climbing, mountain biking, walking, picnicking, just enjoying your surroundings. Black rocks is a fantastic adventure close to home, right in Marquettes backyard.
A must visit place in Marquette, you will create a lifetime memory. A windy day is ideal for a visit especially because it acts as fuel for some big waves.
Loved this place! The view is breath taking
Amazing!! Amazing!! Amazing!!!We went to presque isle and walked to the rocks—great view!! There is even a rock you can jump into the water off of
Definitely go exploring back in here! I recommend bringing some solid water shoes and after you jump off the cliff, swim across and climb rocks.
Gorgeous spot. Highly recommend!
Nature’s beauty at it’s finest.️
Breath taking views. A must see.
Jumped off, had a great time
Beautiful not to far away from the rock where you can jump into the water.
It is super cool and scary at the same time but the view is incredible. I would recommend cliff jumping thats the best part.
Best kept secret in Michigan with stunning views. Just as neat as Picture Rocks. Plan on spending the day.
Very fun and very busy with lots of people on a Saturday.
Peacefull! Water is always freezing but you can still watch kids jumping in. The views are amazing and the small hike is enduring.
Picturesque, fun, fairly easy to access. Great view of the lake.
Even though it was gale force winds & below freezing, Presque Isle was beautiful. I cant wait to go when its warmer to hike the whole park.
Absolutely beautiful. Must see!
A really beautiful place in the UP for cliff jumping ! Just a warning : the water is extremely cold !!!
Obviously tons of fun- but please please please pick up your trash. Found a whole pack of cigarettes in the water after forth of July weekend
Pretty busy on the weekends. Great place to see the sunset.
Good cliffs for jumping here, pretty popular spot though
Cold water but worth the jump!
Difficult to find. Amazing little jewel hidden on Presque Isle in Marquette, MI.
A great place to go, we really enjoyed our time.
Awesome, incredible experience! Beautiful park!
Beautiful views, only downside is it is not handicap accessible.
Nice scenery and plenty of exercise!
Awesome view of sunset and deer and foxes
I go here every year. Definitely the highlight of my year.
Fun place to watch the kids dive.
