I have had a huge problem getting checked in at the McClesky Y. Although I have no problem logging in on my account at home, the people there say there are actually four people on our account, three of which have the same name (mine) and Im to guess which one is correct. After filling out the covid questionnaire four times and each time it not going through, I gave up and left. They also kept badgering me for my cellphone number, saying it would make it easier. Easier for what--folks, youve already messed up my account, why should I give you a crack at my cell phone number? I know the Y does a lot of worthy things, but I can only conclude that this is being done to me to discourage me from using the facilities.
Good option for a family but the weight section is very limited, with a strange layout. If there are 3-4 people there it feels crowded. The bathrooms smell terrible and half the lockers are broken. The cardio equipment (treadmills + ellipticals) are well past usable. Pieces hanging off, screens dont work, audible clacking on a lot of them. They said they were going to replace the machines 1 year ago but no change. I asked about it and was brushed off.
Best place to go to get healthy! Take your kids at an early age and keep taking them there!
The McCleskey-East Cobb Family YMCA is practically in my backyard I reside on the same street that its located and I like the fact that when they are open there isnt that much traffic on our street and the parking is adequate for all the individuals and families who come to visit
Love the Zumba classes and enjoy swimming in the pool.
Oh my goodness, where do I began. The MCcleskey-East Cobb Family YMCA, have played a valuable part of my familys life. I am please with the professional, customer service and dedication of staff.
Great job at staying clean, great spin class, only 4 stars cause the decline bench is missing! Lol. Very friendly staff, family oriented gym/ pool/sauna/hot tub...
Love the Y but the staff people can be a little overwhelming, i feel their all over me just looking and asking the most ridiculous questions. So much for social distancing.
I love the facilities, equipment and cleanliness of the place. There are a lot ( A LOT!) of programs and classes at great times. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I feel very welcome here, which Ive never felt at any other gym/facility in various cities. I truly enjoy coming here as do my kids (aged 13 and 9). My kids have loved learning new sports and training actively in ones they already know.
Good facilities and equipment. Trainers are good. They have different levels of training programs
Dells weekly Zumba classes on Wednesdays at 6:30pm and biweekly classes on Sunday and Monday are thee absolute best!!! Dell is an awesome instructor that genuinely cares about her attendees and fellow Y instructors and always treats everyone with the utmost respect no matter the opposition.
Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming on my first visit. I received answers to all of my questions and found out about perks I wasnt aware of. Very glad to make this YMCA location my new gym!
Great summer camp for my 5 year old!
Is great, everyone that works there is nice people
Love the classes: Step, Strength, Boot Camp with Archana, Cycle Fusion with Tatiana. Love the instructors and class formats. Lots of different classes to meet everyones needs and abilities.
Great place with kind people! I really enjoy the community atmosphere.
The pool is the greatest. Its salt-water sanitized, which doesnt damage skin or hair. And its Olympic size, which is wonderful for laps. Just plan to swim when there are no swim lessons. And they have a fantastic weight room with lots of equipment.
We had a membership here for awhile but cancelled because we didn’t come enough. It was clean, they had a ton of classes, the child care was nice, all the workers were kind and they have a sauna. We now have the program membership so my son can play soccer here and so far so good.
This YMCA location have been nothing but great to me from the day I sign up for the use of the exercise equipment on 2/18. I came back the next day to speak with Angela, the certified trainer and she was so sweet and patient with explaining an exercise routine that I could use to get started. I love that I can come as early as 6a as a convenience to me or even after work, if I choose. A great place for singles or families for all your fitness needs and more for children, if needed.
Definitely in the top 3 of best Metro Atlanta YMCA facilities!! Excellent facility and staff
Always a great place to workout, go swimming, take classes, and meet people. The staff is really friendly, and the facility was really clean.Although far from an expert, I believe all YMCAs have the same amenities, but a couple of staff members made all the difference in the world regarding my review.
Nice YMCA, with plenty of exercise equipment, pool, racquetball courts, and more. I love that its non-profit and helps the community too!
I have so much fun &friends
I didn’t even have the chance to experience what the YMCA was about. I signed up for 4 swim classes for the same day different times. My daughter got sick and gave my other daughter the strep. So I called several times went to the location called the main office and still no refund. It’s been a month and 2 weeks and still no refund. All I wanted was to cancel the classes and reschedule for another. The YMCA is supposed to be about building communities, helping families but in my case it was destroyed! I’m sure it’s a nice place but for me I will be dealing with local governments services. I know they will treat you fair and give the best service.
As a whole the staff and facility is very nice. Every thing is kept clean and well maintained. The only reason they didnt get 5 stars is the weight area. Most of the benches arent bolted down, causing them to rock or shift. The barbells are very old and not in great shape. The weight area is small but effective. If the facility could cut back on the MASSIVE cardio area just a little bit and add to the weight area they would be a world class gym.
I called just to inquire about the activities that were available at this location and whoever answered the phone was extremely unhelpful and could not give me ANY information about future events or classes for children.
Definitely in the top 5 best Metro ATL YMCA facilities. Awesome!!!
My family and I absolutely love this place! Son plays soccer here and really enjoys it
Amazing place for kids to come and have fun! There is swimming basketball, soccer and much more!!! Especially since it’s summer it is a great place to bring your children for summer camps !! I am sure you’ll love it here!
My partner and I came to watch our nieces soccer practice, and a woman harrassed us by placing several religious pamphlets on our windshield. She put them on our vehicle only, no one else had any of her literature. She insulted us in front of her own daughter and our toddler, she said she was entitled to preach to us about our pain because of the color of our skin. We were even asked if we needed help by another person. The manager did nothing but tell us she had to do it again to face any consequences, and that other people at this YMCA probably agreed with her (are against homosexuality). I was in tears and we told him we wouldnt come back. He got cheeky and invited us back on Saturday to see the difference. Poorly handled and extremely inappropriate. We did nothing to this woman and the manager obviously didnt care enough about discrimination against us enough to actually try and seem genuine. He even told us we would not receive an apology. This management has their priorities extremely mixed up. Keep catering to those who show their hate and this world will never change.
One of the most valuable services to offer your entire family. YMCA offers so much at such a great price
I love the classes. I also love how accessible the classes are. I dont feel embarrassed about my learning curve.
We signed up for a family membership 25 years ago. Our kids learned to swim, play tennis and soccer while l workout independently. Back then, we volunteered our time to assist in family programs. Our family have left home but my husband and l are still loyal active members.
Great place, great staff. very clean.
The class I took was difficult in a good way. The instructor was incredible. When I dropped my children off at childcare I felt safe leaving them and the staff were so kind and gentle with them.
Wonderful staff and great instructors. The group exercise classes are fantastic and there are so many to choose from. This is a great environment for family fitness!
Wonderful staff that is willing to help you.
Fun for the whole family. I mainly spend my time in their gym, which has numerous ways for you to workout. Theres also a pool, a yoga room, a daycare, a steam room, a sauna, and so on.
Great location. Clean, well maintained equipment, both dry sauna and steam room, full sized pool. My only complaints are that they do not provide clean towels for workouts or showering, and they have one designated cloth towel and spray bottle per machine, which isnt very sanitary when you have hundreds of people wiping their sweat off on the same towel.
Great gym. Friendly staff. The place is always clean. The cleaning staff makes rounds all day. The gym has several basketball goals and racks of basketballs. Outstanding exercise equipment and large variety of machines. Whirlpool and steam room are both available.
My kids experienced one of the worst swim lessons at the East Piedmont YMCA this week. My older one was in the swim stroke clinic and the coach was yelling “GET OUT!” at a girl in class several times in front of all the other kids. The poor girl climbed out crying and sat out for the rest of the lesson. The coach in my other son’s class was chatting with a staff member in the next lane for at least 20 minutes out of the 40 minute lesson. The two kids in her lesson spent most of their time standing and waiting around, not knowing what to do. We’ve been a long term member with YMCA and hope they can improve the quality of their swim coaches. Kids should have a fun and productive time in the pool, instead of being frightened or ignored.
Put your family in motion, with many varied activities and so much fun!
The swim team is SUPER SUPER good. the overall facility is good. The only thing I can complain is the bathrooms - specially the adult one it had bad smell all the time even so they try to keep those clean - I think is time for renovation and change the floor and walls tile.
I love to work out there and its a lot of people there will not a lot of people but they got basketball court to have coffee they have a pool thats a great place I liked it
Just called to ask if I can switch swim class from one day to there other. The receptionist wouldnt even check options. Response was all classes in May are full, period. Thanks for making an effort, girl! Also disappointed from soccer club; they would not commit for time of practices or ganes, how can someone be expected to pay amd register if they dont know the schedule?Other than that our experience so far was OK. Not a brilliant experience nor a bad one, just as expected.
What I love about the YMCA is that there are activities for my whole family to enjoy. Our family has made lots of friends at the Y. I love the weekly Zumba classes and the Glow in the dark Zumba party that we have each year. My son loves playing basketball in the gym and have made some really good friends. I am very thankful to have the YMCA as apart of our lives and our family. The YMCA is a safe place that our family can come to and not only exercise, but enjoy ourselves together.
One of the best Ys I have been to. The whole place is super upscale and modern. Everything is clean, everyone remembers your name. Really well priced as well. Great equipment. Some of the areas are a little small, but not bad.
Really love this facility!! Back before I had twins we had memberships to LA Fitness and Id say its better in terms of equipment and space, but once you have kids the Y cant be beat. They love the play facility here and the staff is super involved with them there whereas at LA Fitness I felt they were just bidding their time with my daughter but not really involved. They know me and my kids by name here. My eldest daughter has done soccer, swim lessons, and is signed up for summer camp here. She has loved everything shes been involved in and I have always felt everyone was respectful and kind to her. I have never experienced any rude staff, even those mentioned by other reviewers. I couldnt be happier.
Good service great price to work out no long term contracts
I love the family atmosphere of the Y. Everyone is so nice to our girls in the play center. The gym equipment, basketball court, and grounds are all excellent and well-maintained as well.
The facilities are clean and well maintained . The staff is very friendly. There is nothing that I dont love about the McCloskey YMCA.
Great community events and rec place. I only lift weights here and its really nice during off hours the weight room is almost deserted. Sometimes can get busy but usually no issue.
Fabulous environment, very friendly, skilled staff
Very pleasant staff. Anytime I need assistance they are always willing to help me. I submitted and application for spring break camp at 8:30 PM, by 6 AM the next morning I saw an email that was sent at 9:15 PM with the application status attached.Best YMCA location Ive ever frequented.
Rachel Singer was an awesome team player - She was a big help in working with our 16 year son acclimated to the Y, getting him working in the Counselor in Training program, doing some personal coaching with him -- Tiffany in Aquatics also spent a lot of time at swim lessons with our smaller boys -- We really appreciate everything the team at the Y has done to help our boys.
Nice facility & people. Gym & pool all in one location.
Great facility with plenty of machines, good kids programs and fun atmosphere.
Great family place to work out. They have a childrens center where they watch your kids( 2hrs) while you work out. They have tons of activities throught the year for kid of all ages. My kids are in their teens now and still enjoy the Y.
Quiet and clean.
Good gym. kind and patient people. My only beef is there are too many kids, but thats more a beef of perspective. Im sure if I was a kid it wouldnt be a beef at all.
I love the Zumba classes. The machines are just what I need. I havent used the pool or cycling room but they both look great. Overall a clean and friendly location.
Great spin class!
I love this place. Great programs and staff
This facility is well maintained. There are tons of activities. We love our community YMCA.
My son loves it here! We enjoy all that is offered and the staff is nice!
Extending child care service hours over weekends would make it even better
This is a great gym. The equipment is excellent and if you need assistance there is always someone there to help. Lots of cardio equipment choices. Well maintained.
Excellent place and they even have an opportunity to apply for a scholarship which pays for up to half of the fees if your income is low.
Nice pool, but does not have a family room. Big deal if you are a mom with little boys.
Still going for my special needs child.
Great YMCA my biggest complaint is no family changing room.
Love going here. The people are friendly and the pool staff is AMAZING
Walked in to this YMCA today as a visitor and dealt with an extremely rude lady. Looked angry that she had to assist me. Total disappointment since this facility seems to be a nice one. Mseramily and I will take our recreation fees elsewhere if thats the customer service well receive
Great spin class today!
Always clean, always plesant
The childcare was great, the facility was always clean, the pool was always the right temperature and the employees were helpful. Ill definitely want to renew my membership in the future.
Ok the ymca is nice and somewhat spacious, nice cardio area, full basketball courts and swimming pool(25 yards). What the ymca lacks is a spacious free weight area. The area dedicated to free weights is smaller then most of the 24 hour gyms that I have been to. They have one bench, one decline bench, one squat rack one smith machine and a couple of utility benches with dumbbells and kettlebells. The barbell clips are old and they seemed to be in short supply so if your coming to lift i would suggest that you bring your own. As small as the area is, it gets pretty crowded fast so definitely try to get here when they first open up otherwise it could be awhile. The mens locker is nice just make sure to bring your own lock and they do have private showers.
Great work out facilities.
A great YMCA facility! Weve had a family membership since my kids were babies.Id love to see them post about upcoming events for the McClesky location here on G+.
Its a great place with great people and staff! The place is a really good atmosphere for children and a place for adults to work out.
Friendly staff, great group classes, nice play care area and first 6 months free coaching program!
My son enjoys it.
Awesome family club .
Nice gym. Very clean facility. Lots of things to do here...
Both kids and parent favorite place. Lots of activities for kids while parent put saving back in their pocket. On average, we save 20-30% on those great swimming classes. Not to mention, parent night out program. Oh yes!
Great place4. My kids absolutely love this place. And it is very convenient for me to bring them here.
This is my spot!!! I love this y location staff welcoming, friendly & helpful. I cant say enough. They have childcare it can get crowded with games and all but I guess I not bothered since I go anytime day or evening.
Fantastic equipment and facilities. I couldnt give 5 stars due to multiple daytime visits where older men are naked in the sauna, drying off naked in the sauna, and drying their clothes and or towels in the sauna. Ive spoken to the staff several times about this.
Beautiful facility. Nice soccer fields.
Nice people, nice facility and the salt water pool is grand!!
This was our first YMCA experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful, we got a tour and guest passes. We also got to stay and use the pool that day. We hope to join in the near future!
Fantastic place to work out. Just wish a better eye was kept on the sauna/spa areas
The place is a fantastic Location to hangout with family and friends.
Beautiful bright and clean! Staff very helpful.
Plenty of space and nice staff, but the room decor and exercise equipment is old
Love this Y still go to it today. Stafff is very kind and respectful
Clean, nice facilities, variety of programs and classes. They offer a child care service while you work out, too.
Convenient for workout, lots of group classes, Pool, Racquetball and basketball courts, very good workout machines and also running indoor track.. Also has kids day care for young families..
Great gym with tons of equipment. Love the child care, and theyre always putting on events for kids and families.
