Very nice battlefield park. Well maintained and the signage is very informative. It would have been nice if the visitor center was open along with the buildings but I understand with covid. Beautiful scenery where such an awful event occurred. Well worth the visit.
There is so much to do at this park. Take the time to look at some maps and explore some of the parts of the beaten path. Sudly springs is a super sorry hike packed with history and pretty views and it is seldom crowded. There are other gems here if you take the time to find them. The dont bridge is still a great option if you dont mind driving shoulders with strangers during a pandemic. The stone house is a better option for the busy parts of the park as it is easier to move of the trail when passing other people.
Plenty of space and lots of history. The visitors center has limited things available with covid-19 regulations. It is well staffed and the staff is knowledgeable and super helpful. We went to hike. The trail was marked well, but the color of the markers didnt match the map. Also would have been good to know the milage on the trail when we started - it was way longer than we thought it was going to be. It was a beautiful day and worth the longer than expected hike
The Henry Hill visitor center has a small museum but also a map with lights that show the positions of the Confederate and Union armies and how the first battle of Manassas evolved. That map explains the terrain and the battle super well. It takes 7 minutes. We saw the museum on July 14, 2020. We had to wear masks. The battlefield is set for the 1st battle of Manassas with cannons set. There are multiple markers and plaques with information. We walked only part of the battlefield. You can see it in 1 hour.
Nice place to hike and learn some history. Everything is well maintained. The visitor center has a clean bathroom.
As the number one thing to do in Manassas, we thought we would give this a try as it offered interesting historical perspectives and the ability to keep our distance in the Corona Virus time in which we live.Great overview of the battle inside the visitors center - while low-tech, it certainly allowed you to focus on what had happened and understand the troop movements. A reasonable display of the battlefield uniforms and materiel that the troops used.Outside you will find well-defined paths, excellent explanation markers throughout the battlefield, and set-up replica cannon to give you an idea of what the soldiers were able to see (and not see!) during the battle.
Los of good hiking trails with a variety of lengths and terrain. Trails are a mix of open fields and wooded areas, many which are very doable for kids. There is usually plenty of room to stay socially distant even with the large number of people who go. Favorite hikes are the Stone Bridge, Henry Hill, and Matthews Hill. Some of the trails get really muddy. Also, definitely check for ticks after.
Nice place for walk and relaxing in the weekends with kids and family I was stop by with no planned with worth it
One of the best preserved Battlefields in the World - particularly the Chinn Ridge section.
Beautiful park. Dog friendly. I would recommend checking for ticks as we found several after leaving the park on the dog.
Nice well kept trails. Theres always a group of people dressed up taking professional photos. There are some nice Scenic areas at sunset.
Historical markers. You can see where the original bridge was over 150 yrs ago. LOTS of greenery and flowers Ive never seen. Like jewelweed. Very nice boardwalk. People outdoors, with masks on. They become faceless. No pun intended. Non entities. No smiles, no hellos. For the most part, no one even looks at them. This place will be pretty in Fall.
Clean, spacious and beautiful! Lots of history! The park rangers have tents outside to give out maps and answering questions. A lot people dont wear mask even on the trail.
This is a beautiful and informative park. My mom and I took our pup for a walk here, and all three of us loved it! There are multiple different trails, and the park is huge! It is very well maintained, with walkways that traverse the marshy sections. It is a very peaceful and hallowed park, with lots of history and interesting factoids spread throughout. There are also lots of wildlife, and the scenery is breathtaking!
Obviously the park itself is historic and incredible, but the people working/volunteering here are great too. For example, it was 100+ degrees outside and we were feeling it, but a costumed interpreter invited us to sit under a tree and handed out bottles of Gatorade (for free) to help us cool off. Nice!
Its easy to get turned around--and Google maps can take you to the wrong visitors center. There are 2 centers, Henry Hill visitors center is in the far southwest corner of the park and the main one is more central. Once there its an excellent thing to see. Stone bridge, the canons, the statue of Stonewall Jackson, its a good stop to make.
One of the best historical parks I visited so far. Have nice views. Have both open and tree covered trails.

This place is so quite and beautiful. It reminds of the bloodshed happened during the civil war which cost the lives of 620000 people and their sacrifice. There are many entrances for this national park but best way to access is through visitors bay. The place is well preserved with many of the remains from war. The museum is wonderful.
Love this place!! My go to place for photography specialy during the fall!!
Easy Parking, Natural Beauty with plenty of trails & historic marker signs, convenient gift shop, a real sense of this sites historic significance!
History buff or just want to see a massive part of American history? Go! But you better be ready to walk around on trails for quite some time to take everything in properly in my opinion. I happened to be there on the 158th anniversary of the first battle. Very cool. Even in a 107 degree heat index real feel temperature I enjoyed every minute and I spent 4 hours walking the trails and checking out the battlefields and buildings. Take advantage of the free water and AC in those buildings.
Beautiful scenery, nice museum-style learning center and friendly docents. This is a great place to take your dog for a hike.
Very informative. If you have the time I highly recommend taking advantage of the Ranger led tours. They are always willing to answer questions. Visit the Stone house and see the names of 2 soldiers that carved their names into the wall and floor. Spoiler: one was crippled for life and the other died.
Wide open area with markers that give descriptions of events that happened throughout the battles. On site Rangers are very helpful and knowledgeable of what transpired on the field
Nice short hike around the battleground was awesome specially when you are locked up with covid for months
Outstanding park, good number of trails to walk. Ticks are bad during summer, so e aware.
Great place to ride, lost of area to run with your horse and exploring. Trials are a bit gravelly and dirt mixed, lots of grassy areas and dirt mixed once you pass the main part of the trails that heads towards Battlefield.
This is historical place!!! Very recomended
Love this place. Lots of history, you can spend lots of time here.
Its a nice historical park to walk around in. There are educational signs throughout that explain historical events surrounding the battle.
Love to come here with my boyfriend and our dog. Its beautiful and you can do a small or long hike. It feels great to experience the outdoors and get some history. Its definitely a favorite weekend spot.
Haunting, yet beautiful. You can come for the guided walk at 11:00, or take a self-guided tour. We opted for the self-guided, as the map the ranger gives you is clear, and the trail that circumnavigates the park is well marked and explains how the first battle of Bull Run unfolded. We came early in the morning shortly after the visitor center opened, and theres something about walking the grounds at a place like this when youre all alone and the morning light is casting its shadows. The hike took about two hours and is an easy stroll. Well have to return another time to see the site of the second battle, as its an 18 mile loop done by car that would take an entire afternoon. This is really worthwhile even if you have a mere passing interest in American history. Would do again.
Very educational. Would recommend. Also spacious which is good for social distancing.
Fantastic location for a hike. Beautiful scenery .....a must go!
Outstanding visitor center/museum! Trails are well marked and beautiful.
The family and myself love to come here, spend some times and shop. We love the staff at this location, and the place offers a wonderful experiences that we come to value. Its always in a good location to us as well. We would come back again in a heartbeat. We enjoyed the open space, and the many places within this place to explore and hike. This is a historic place for sure, but its always epic as it stretches for miles.
Lots of history associated with the area and there are good walking and running trails
It is so beautiful here. Lots of room of picnics, games, history overview and just some quality time with family and friends
Great hiking trails and a lot of opportunities for history enthusiasts.
Fun outdoor space with plenty of historical markers
Fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly tour guide. BEAUTIFUL grounds and museum are open!
I felt such a great energy on these grounds. I felt free to run and take a deep breath. Wonderful place to remember that our freedom was not free. This grounds wittnessed the deadliest battle during the civil war. The park ranger was very knowledgeable as well.
Close to DC. Great trails, very popular for walkers, runners, ect. Great views. Good historical information available. I havent seen a ghost yet, but Im ready..
Good Civil War battlefield to visit. Great trails to walk or run. The people at the visitor center were very helpful. I recommend walking the First Manassas Trail to the Stone Bridge (you can also drive to the Stone Bridge) and the Henry Hill Loop.
Great park to go during COVID, extremely spacious. Stay safe and wear your masks.
Nice place to run or walk and enjoy the scenery and learn history at the same time
Beautiful park! Completed the 5.5 mile 1st Battle of Manassas Trail Loop and enjoyed the sights while reading up on local history. The trail was well marked and maintained.
The history of this place is amazing. It is neat to walk where so many gave their lives. Seeing the cannons and old landmarks really hives perspective to what they went through in battle. Would recommend a visit if you are out that way.
I love going to this place with family. The sunset, the fields and the history of it.
Very informative signs posted throughout the park/battlefield.
Lovely trails, all well marked. For such a close location to DC area, it makes for a quick and easy hike. For those interested on going, wear good shoes as there are portions with a lot of mud!
It’s not as famous as other parks in VA so it doesn’t get too crowded. It’s a pleasant area for walking.
Great historical site of the Battle of Bull Run. Nice setup to help visualize the battle and really nice walking trails.
There is sooo much history here, its an amazing place to visit.
Great walking spot also theres a small spot to let the little ones get there feet wet or your dog.
There are 2 main trails around 5-6 miles in length that show you a good bit of the history of the park. The visitors center is nice & has a large light up map that details the events of the battle at manassas.
Excellent hiking trail that just got recent regrading upgrades (June 2020). The trail has new gravel and mulch in many spots that were washed out previously. Blue trail: Excellent hike for younger kids!
It has lots of different areas of fields to walk on, great to visit with your kids and dogs.
Lots of space, well kept and a fun place for children and animals
Such an amazing learning experience!
Nice place to have a picnic or a walk, perfect for kids to run and play while keeping distance from other people
Out on a Harley Davidson, great views and just makes you feel humble.
Very interesting place to hike. A lot of interesting history and very dynamic trails.
The battlefield where some of the first shots (and the first civilian death) of the Civil War rang out. The farm and fields are preserved/recreated, with cannon, fences, houses, walking paths, and a visitors center (with helpful staff, maps, and a gift shop).
Beautiful place to run! Trails are carved throughout the entire battlefield with markers along the way depicting key moments in the battle. Easily run for 8-10 miles without knowing it. Also, a great place to take the kids. Young ones enjoy running around the open land as well.
Great place to hike. Glad to see my tax dollars preserve our nations rich history
It always good to visit manassas battle field, yesterday was beautiful with cool, sunny weather.
Beautiful grounds. Wear good, water resistant, shoes because the land can be quite wet. It is an amazing experience.
Great park for easy walks. Tons of good trails both with some light woods and open fields
Its interesting to see this in person. It gives much more perspective on the history than what we were taught in history class. I also found it interesting to read the stories about the homes that happened to fall in the crossfire of the battle.
Amazing location. Very helpful park ranger who spent time educating us about the area and the battlefield. So happy we stopped to see this important piece of our countrys history
Loved this place. The setting is gorgeous! There is a trail that goes around to different places that is 1.1 mile long. The museum is very small, but it has a very good informational video. They had tours with tour guided every 1/2 hour, I believe that lasted quite a while from what I could tell. I only heard parts of it while we walked on our own. I couldnt get over the beautiful area.
Always my familys favorite place to retreat.
Definitely going again. Still alot we didnt get to read and walk the battlefield. The history is great the videos in the visitor center are a must do. Go walk the same steps of many soldiers that didnt get to make it home ever again.
Visited for short time. Visitor center is nice and have good information on park, movie to represent what happened there. There are guided tours as well with ranger so check timing else maps are good enough to walk around. For sure it’s heavy grasslands as I didn’t seen paved walking paths as mostly walking on grass. So wear shoes.
Great place to visit even on a rainy day
Manassas, Virginia. This battlefield leaves you an experience of a lifetime. Come experience what General Stonewall Jackson and the Confederate troops fought and endured against the Union during a very difficult time in America. Leaves a real life experience in you.
I have always wanted to visit a Civil War battlefield and this one did not disappoint. It looks like it did over 150 years ago. The set up of cannons, old farm house and zig zag fences gives you an incredible surreal feeling. Complete with a 7 min lighted map that narrates the battle and complemented by a fairly lengthy movie showing, it gives you plenty of information to understand the sacred ground you stand upon.
I am able to immerse myself in history, or just enjoy the peaceful countryside.A national treasure.
Very well maintained park, our family and new puppy loved our trip there!
Very beautiful historical pakr.
Great time! Lots of room to run!! Lots of history !!
Very well maintained battlefields. The reenactment display in the visitor center is impressive, & was my favorite part of our visit.
Wonderful jogging trails, sunny or shaddy you choose.
Our favorite of the battlefields. No fees. This site is where the very first engagement occurred. Easy walk. Slightly hilly. We were lucky enough to see an reenactment. Lots of period clothing and artillery. Chapmans Mill isnt to far away. Also a must see.
Great place to walk around enjoy the scenery and learn about history with the family.
Awesome place full of history. Lots of trails and areas to walk. I came here once with my grandma when they were shooting off some Civil War guns and cannons (no actual bullets or cannonballs were used) and it was a very cool presentation. Definitely a place worth checking out.
Excellent place to walk the dogs with 2 separate hikes approximately 5-6 miles. Not too challenging and plenty of history and gorgeous views. The visitor center is small and no food sales on site so be prepared with your own supplies. Also, no comfort facilities on the hike so take care of business before you go.
Lots of open fields, wooded trails and historical markers
Hike here nearly every weekend. Lovely landscape and dynamic.
Great place for hiking.Fresh air
Great place to take a long walk. Beautiful trails and historical markers.
