This is a great park to take a walk and add to your run route. It has wide fields and a couple of nice hills that keeps your cardio activity interesting. Its great for sledding as well.
This is a lovely park with three separate areas in the pavilion that all have fireplaces and picnic tables. The fully functioning bathrooms were open in October 2020 when I last visited. There is also plenty of green space with picnic tables to use to play or have a physically distanced gathering.
Good - Great park right next to CUNA mutual office. Nice rest area, toilets well maintained lots of spaces for kids to play. Pickle tennis ball courts are usually full. Grounds to play soccer also mostly occupied. Trees look so lovely during fall amazing vibe of red, orange yellow and green. The bad - sit out / party lounge area too noisy when occupied
Excellent park! Very spacious and lots of amenities. Small parking lot at the main park entrance that can fit approximately 20 cars. Plenty of street-side parking though. Large pavillion, soccer fields, basketball courts, a volleyball court, tennis courts, and a baseball field. Lots of connecting paved paths throughout the park. Occasionally, they have Opera in the Park here.
Nice park, a little small. Decent walking path and it has tennis courts.
Beautiful park with well maintained facilities. The pickle ball courts were in pretty good condition with only some minor cracks.
Lots to do. The mecca of obscure sports. Pickleball, field hockey? Lacrosse, Tai chi and more
Garnet Park is a favorite with many. There is a large stone shelter, nice walking path, and lots of grassy space for physical distancing!
A pleasant city park with soccer fields, tennis courts, open green space, and some tree covered areas
We were looking for some place for outdoor badminton and Garner Park worked well - flat grassy areas with enough tree shade to hide from the direct sun.
Good sledding hill. Not too steep, not too short. Wont send you to the hospital like Elver but big enough to be satisfying.
Incredible park. Well-kept, spacious, and beautiful.
Nice & quiet place. Lots of space to roam around in. People play pickle ball here.
Garner Park is a gem in Madison! It has so many uses. The tennis courts have been converted to pickleball and now serve many active residents. Lessons are available through the summer months.Opera in the Park is a free event for the community that is held in what is a natural amphitheatre in the Park. The slope of the sledding hill provides summer seating to a huge crowd, drinking wine, picnicking, and enjoying sublime music from Madison Opera. The natural prairie is lovely in all four seasons, providing cover for a variety of birds and wildlife. The Madison Parks Department has recently upgraded the paths and roads within the park to make it very accessible. Playground equipment is available and well used by neighborhood children and visitors alike.
A wonderful medium sized park on Madisons west side. Room for a few soccer fields below near the basketball court. Up top near the really cool shelter are tennis courts. There are also several trails to walk through and around the park. There is also a softball area in the lower right side if your at the top of the park looking down. Also home to a few wild turkeys that you will see from time to time.
This park is great! It has a multi layer shelter, the play structure is really nice, and even a lovely path to walk or bike along.
Best pickleball in town.
Its a very nice park, clean and well-maintained. Its one of the larger parks in Madison, which is nice. You wouldnt know that from driving by, or even just pulling into the lot, but it actually goes on for 42 acres!
Garner park is a very nice place with a playground, excellent hills for sledding, a shelter with a water fountain, and plenty of room to stretch ones legs.
Dramatic Nordic picnic shelter. Tennis, pickleball courts, great sledding hill... Soccer fields. Well hidden from two adjacent arterials. Nice paved walking or bicycling paths.
Nice park for a picnic!
Hidden gem in the middle of the west side...great easy walking paths and best tennis courts in the city.
Unique park. Gorgeous setting with the stone facade. Only wish....a play structure close to the shelter.
Great park for pickleball and theres actually 75 parking spots in the lot. Courts are very popular and often full. Maybe time for another 6 to be added?
Had my wedding there and I have always loved this park. Fantastic shelter and wonderful views.
Got my ankles broken by identical twins on the courts here. They were money from the 3 and worked as UNIT totally capable of beating a team of Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson (Lil movie reference for the ogs out there) anyway pretty slick park, sun sets and cuts the court in half, so one side is shady and the other is sunny. I guess you could do other stuff there to. Other people seem to anyway.
Pickleball courts!!! Need to walk a little from the parking to find the courts. There are cracks but very nice.
PICKLE BALL! Nice newer courts. Loved this new sport our son introduced to us. The courts are a bit of a walk from parking lot though. Cant wait to see if maybe Milwaukee area has some courts.
Such a clean and beautiful park! Perfect pavilions to rent.
Fun for all!
Lovely park for fun activities! Great to conduct small outdoor parties in the summer.
Nice large park with plenty of open green space. Its a short walk from work so its a nice place to eat lunch when the weather is nice.
Nice park. Could use more picnic tables and fewer soccer fields.
Wonderful piece of the Midwest landscape for everyone to enjoy
We play nerf here once a month as ND its great!
We reserved a shelter. Shortly after we arrived we were approached by a park ranger who asked if everything was okay. Gave us her card and said to call if we needed anything.
Soccer fields, tennis courts, a play structure, basketball hoops, and volleyball net and sand. There is a multi level shelter, and if you reserve it through the parks department you get keys to the tower! In the winter the hill makes a good sledding area which has a flat ending so you wont slide into the road or a parking lot. The soccer fields also are flooded and turned into ice rinks with nets and boards.
A big park with some easy walking paths, soccer fields, and playground. The shelter is very unique and interesting. I would swing by just to see it. The tower would be awesome to climb, but was locked when I was there.
Cool structure on a big hill. We had our company picnic here. It was fun.
This park is beautiful with rental options for larger groups. The basketball courts are under the tree shade. Taking a walk down the sidewalks helps give you a breath of fresh air.
Nice community park. Benches and picnic tables. Large Covered pavilion. Very pleasant for a picnic or family game.
My favorite park in Madison. The structure in the center is beautiful. There a hidden trails on the edges and the main pavement is a great place to walk a dog!
Beautiful city park. Large open space and one main large stone shelter. No awesome views but quite. Small Woods and large fields.
Nice clean park, easy access
Very nice. Its clean, open space, parking, and has a nice shelter. Its also easy to get to, and leave.
Nice place to play Pickleball. Has a restroom and play area for children. Nice off street parking.
Beautiful location and lots to do!
Kids can sled in the winter, you can have cookouts in the summer, and there are several fields as well. Nice park
Huge hill!!! Kids love rolling down the hill in the Summer, or sled in the Winter. The Pavilion is 2 levels and has a wood burning fireplace! Great place for a gathering with some food and fun!
Nice place for family
Love love love this spacious park! Nice location. Nice playground for kids. Big soccer feild. Very nice shelter on top of the hill! I come here and play pokemon with friends with its 2 gyms and pokestoos. It also is a ex raid hotspot! Its always clean and very well maintained and respected by everyone who visits!
Great place to hang out with family
Its very nice. I wish the play area didnt feel secluded from the neighborhood.
Soccer fields, good sledding hills, pickleball courts, and a shelter is what you will find. Good place to bring kids.
Fairly large park offering a nice shelter with 3 public fireplaces, restrooms (seasonally) and lots of space to enjoy with friends.Theres also a tower in the shelter but it is always locked and NOT accessible to the public.
Opera in the Park is a big hit!
Opera in the Park is something I look forward to every year.
Beautiful park. We went for the free opera in the park. An outstanding event.
I only go to this park once a year for Opera in the Park. The park is perfect for this event as the hill slopes upward so everyone has a good view of the orchestra.
Theres a nerf group that plays here every 4th Sunday of the month
Great park. Definitely worth visiting when Opera in the Park is happening.

Beautiful park.
It has it all for a local park-equipment, space, AND bathrooms!
