Theres a bunch of cool little trails in and around the marshy area. We had a great time exploring.
Small park. Nothing specifically stands out as amazing but great for a nice stroll through forest, prairie, and marshland. They are currently in the process of protecting the indigenous effigy mounds so they arent currently accessible.
Never crowded, very nice mix of topography in a relatively compact park.
A sewer drains into part of the wetlands and on hot summer days half the hike smells like a porto potty.
It is a small marsh with grassy areas full of trees and hidden paths. I enjoyed a morning walk around there. Its beautiful!
Adjacent to the Aldo Leopold Nature Center and accessible from it. Many of the trails are dead ends but that is OK. There is a long land bridge between two marshy ponds and for me that is the highlight
Always a peaceful place to visit and to see great wildlife !
Beautiful place to hike and explore nature
Fun, pretty trail
Hidden east side Marvel. This was once an ancient village of Mound Builders 1000-1500 years ago, complete with its own mini Isthmus, walking trails leading to 300 foot long mounds atop a terminal drumlin that rises 150 foot above freshwater spring fed ponds.
A slice of heaven, here in earth. Such a beautiful nature conservatory!
Nice place to go wander in the urban wild. Mixture of woods, prairie, and wetlands on the property. Theres even a few places where youre surrounded completely by nature and can forget that just beyond the trees and undergrowth are neighborhoods and highways. A couple trails connect to the grounds of Aldo Leopold Nature Center with signs that let you know once youve crossed over. Be kind and mind the rules posted on the signs.
Nice place for wildlife
Even though its next to a highway, the traffic noise never intrudes. Great place for a casual nature walk.
Nice place for a walk in town. Too bad you can hear all the traffic
Good place for a few minutes of quiet walking in the middle of Monona if you are there on a lightly visited day.
Wonderful natural space. Feels like a step back in time to wander around the grounds.
Gorgeous natural area with lots of wildlife, birds, and Native American mounds! They are 2,000+ year old burial mounds including a small panther/Water Spirit mound and several linear burial mounds- one of which used to be the longest mound in Dane Co at over 700 ft.
Beautiful

A little nature in the middle of Monona / Madison. Large enough you feel secluded and the sounds of the city are faint. Deer, fox, and muskrat can be seen here.
So many places to go. Watch out u might just call it home.
Great mix of trails. Some bugs. Put a dryer sheet under your hat.
Well preserved conservancy with wonderful wildlife.
