A small but mighty museum that focuses on the people who literally built New Jersey, the skilled trades & crafts people. When you are surrounded by so many political historical sites & museums, this is a breath of fresh air to shift your thoughts to the real, everyday Americans. They also constantly ask the questions that make you think, Are there ways that *I* do things that make a difference to the community around me?The information is presented so beautifully that one could walk through and not even notice the stunning 1899 building. This was a library?! Wow! You just need to go experience it yourself.

Amazing place in Madison NJ! Must see! Building itself is piece of art. Exhibits are very interesting and educational not only for kids but for adults too. A lot of exhibits are hands on. Staff is wonderful! So pleasant and helpful. I dont recall such a good trade collection even in New York museums. Worth to spend money on admission.

Great collection of artifacts and carefully-curated exhibits that help teach New Jersey history. They also have wonderful educational and community programs. Theyve recently added a bi-lingual staff member, opening up their education programs to larger audiences.

As other reviewers have noted the building itself is worth the visit, add in their collection and its a must see in the area. We recently went on an architectural tour and it was fascinating.

I am not a huge fan of museums and most mueseums are about historical stuff. This museum is my favorite in the historical meseum category. They can pull of historical stuff here. They have a lot of cool toys here from the early 20th century. They even let you touch select objects which makes this place fun. Since most museums do not let you touch things. I am happy this place is super close and a perfect way to learn about the old days.
