A wonderful place to catch a show, and the Broadway season ticket prices are quite reasonable. My seat was in the balcony, but I was able to see all of the action very well. If you are up in the balcony, you may want to bring a pair of opera glasses or binoculars to see the finer details of the costumes, but you wont need to keep them stuck on your eyes the whole time.
Its nice and the seats are fairly comfortable but it would be nice if they provided better directions how to get to the center / Overture parking garage. For example: they could paint arrows on the walls and ground, they could include a good map / directions how to get there. At night its pretty hard to navigate around downtown because it as if you are driving on road patterns painted by Picasso.
Went to the Dinosaurs of the Deep show, the show itself was worth taking my three year old son. The ticket situation was strange, we bought VIP tickets which was supposed to include a lanyard and a backstage tour but when we got to the show, they didnt mention this anywhere and there was no VIP section to check-in. When we asked what the deal was before the show started, we were told they were out of lanyards, but nobody in the VIP section had any of them. The only reason Id give this theater a three instead of a two is because a nice woman on the staff tracked down one of the VIP lanyards for my son and saved them in the lobby.
This is a beautiful auditorium with comfortable seating and wonderful views the stage. I have seen a number of plays in their theaters and have never had a complaint. They sell a wide variety of beverages which we could take into the theater. And there are enough Ladys rooms that even during a sold out show, the 15 intermission is sufficient.
They always have a great selection of performances. Ushers are very courteous and friendly. You could make purchase light snacks and beverages before the show and intermission.
My family and I went to Kids in the Rotunda for the first time. I love that they put on free shows to get kids interested in the arts. My only reason for 4 stars is that we parked at the Overture Center Parking Garage, and then had to walk halfway around the building to get inside. It wasnt obvious where the entrance was. For your information, it was on State Street. Once you go in the State Street entrance, the Rotunda is essentially directly below you. One set of stairs down.
What a nice theatre!! Comfortable seating and people can actually walk in front of you to their seats. Amazing. Sound is also perfect.
I visited this place on International festival 2020 on Arts.. its a 3 level building with mutliple halls. Different countries showcased their National Dance/Music. Very nice family event...
Lovely production value and atmosphere! I brought my niece to the Children’s theatre, we were so impressed with the acting— both of us got very wrapped up into the Charlottes Web plot line ️ Every level 1 seat has a great view because they are dramatically stair stepped. You don’t have to worry about adults blocking kids’ views! The actors come out after the performance and the children get to meet them. Lovely!
Easy parking in nearby lot.Well-marked; the location was easy to find.Great sound.Relatively comfortable seating. Not once was I uncomfortable and I’m 6’3”.
The Overture is a beautiful place to catch a Broadway show, the symphony, or any other show. Ive seen shows in the main theater and the smaller Capital theater and both are very nice.
This is a great venue. In the heart of Madison, parking lots really close to it. It also have a great program for the kids and family (Kids in the Rotunda).
Gorgeous theater. Very modern. Hardly a bad seat in the place. Brings some pretty great shows and acts. Most recently saw Hamilton here, and it was top-notch.
Love the many venue choices the Overture Center offers. In particular we enjoy and are grateful for our amazing Symphony, the diverse stage shows and the Childrens Theater productions.
Greg Zelek is a great musical host and a wonderful organist. The Community Carol Sing was very attended. Overture Hall made us all sound great. A good way to get into the holiday spirit.
Very pleasant experience. Lost my ticket, they reprinted with no problem, was ushered to my seat and everything went so smoothly.
Fantastic venue. Runs smoothly even when PACKED like in the pic for Hamilton. Lots of options for parking and dining, plus many concessions and art for viewing inside.
Great place to go. Owners are amazing!
Great concert. Kind of crazy trying to get seated. It could have run much smoother with seating and dismissal but it was a very good concert.
I love the Overture and am so grateful to have it available here in Madison. I have seen many shows here and intend to see many more going forward. I’ve had orchestra seats and upper balcony seats and have always been able to enjoy the show.
Its amazing the quality of performances we are able to see in the midwest. Overture Center has brought Broadway quality venues right to our community. The spectrum of shows allows for adults and kids alike to enjoy theater.
Beautiful performance space. Went to see Book of Mormon, and Im happily going again this weekend to see Spongebob the musical. Plenty of events for everyone, and they really work to showcase the talent in the area. A free art exhibition is also available too for all art lovers out there!
Second visit. Staff very helpful. Some seniors on staff. They are excellent in customer service.
Saw the Nutcracker Ballet here, it is quite a beautiful venue!
Great venue for music. Not sure why Neil Young show only beer/wine?
Classy and fantastic. With the alpine seating and phenomenal acoustics there isnt a bad seat in the house. Everything is tasteful and clean. Also special note for the Capitol Theater inside which is a lovely venue and I highly recommend to see anything there as well.
A beautiful theater, the ambiance and sound were great. The seating layout is very good, not a bad seat in the house!
Beautiful and spacious. I attended the Phantom of the Opera in January 17. The theatre had very elegant designs along the walls that helped the flow of how the seats were arranged. The architect put a lot of thought behind designing that play hall.
Fantastic Acoustics even in nosebleed seats. A really well done modern theater
Love the Overture Center. Always clean always have good and interesting events going on.
The atmosphere is wonderful. We saw Hamilton and we love it there
Very nice place to watch a musical or play. Although the play that I saw was horrible the venue itself was nice and clean.
A real classy joint. Comfy seats and a great sound system. Good sightlines too.
Saw Hamilton. Great venue and awesome show! Easy to find our seats and the ushers were very helpful!
I had an amazing experience. We were pretty high up in the back, but I could still see everything, the acoustics were great. The play was absolutely wonderful (Anastasia)......the building was beautiful. Cannot wait to see another show!
Beautiful place, great sound. I love the events held here.
We sat in the rafters for Hamilton but still felt very intimate. Friendly staff and great ambiance in the lobby.
Beautiful setting. The staff were incredibly helpful and wonderful sound.
Been here to see multiple productions. A very beautiful venue!
Beautiful remodeling and nice place for seeing a play or shows that come through Madison.
Very cozy place. Staff was very helpful & organized. Had a great time. Any seat is a good seat.
Saw Hamilton, an awesome show. Overture is one fantastic facility. Madison is so lucky.
The free organ concert and Christmas Carol sing was fantastic! We will definitely be back.
Great venue! Friendly ushers and staff! Great show, Choir of Men
Absolutely fabulous venue. Beautiful architecture and amazing local theater plus traveling broadway shows...what more can ya ask for?!
Beautiful venue that brings a diverse range of quality shows to Madison. I always know Im going to enjoy my night if Im headed here!
A very nice concert hall provides various arts programs, classical and modern.
Great theater with a super range of shows and more. Been seated all over the auditorium and never a bad experience.
2 things that prevented me from giving 5 stars.1: the seats could have just a touch more room between the rows, so that it wasnt such an inconverience to let anyone pass.2: Cant they turn up the AC or something? especially towards the end of the play, it got real stuffy.Other than that, it was great!
Both the food and the service better than expected. Very nice place for a special occasion.
The music, singing, lighting, acting and stage were wonderful.Lots of people to help even if they arent super knowledgeable. Slow elevators. Attended Hamilton.
Beautiful venue. Excellent production and sound
Great place to see a Broadway type show.
Saw a wonderful concert by Straight No Chaser. My first Overture Center experience. Staff there are very friendly and helpful.
One of my favorites places to see music and theater. Comfortable and sounds great.
All the events I have attended here were amazing highly recommend going in. Even just to look around. Never disappointed
Shen Yun was awesome! The costumes were beautiful and the music was great!
We just enjoyed an incredible performance of Hamilton! The Overture Center does not disappoint.
Great and helpful staff members. The seats dont have a lot of leg room so it can get uncomfortable for longer shows.
We saw Anastasia on 8/3. IT WAS AMAZING! I was a little miffed that my wine cup lid kept leaking on me. I kept having to lick the rim or end up with it on my hand/pants. Luckily it was white wine.
We come here for kids in the rotunda which is a free show for young children each Saturday during the winter. The shows are awesome for kids and adults and are highly educational and engaging. I cannot recommend this enough. Makes me so happy to live in such an awesome city that provides programs like these.
Love coming here and seeing all the different performances. My only complaint is how small the aisle is when you need to get out of your chair during the performance. Very little room to walk.
Beautiful building. Multiple venues to watch events and performances.
First, when I bought tickets on their website in the summer of 2018, my credit card number was stolen and I had to get a new card. Second, it is impossible to buy lap seats for small children for childrens shows online, so even when you buy tickets months in advance, you still have to wait in line to pay 3 or 4 dollars for your own lap seat before entering the theatre. (Ironic, since these are childrens shows, and I wouldnt even go if it werent for my child.) Third and worst, whenever I attempted to contact this establishment, they never respond to anything. They do not answer questions, they do not answer complaints. I just recently went to see Rudolph, which was marked as all ages and was absolutely not appropriate for very small children because of the loud sounds and the roaring Snow Monster. It should have been marked 4+ at least. When I have to leave other establishments because my daughter is in panic or scared, they respond / refund / address the issues. I never get anything from Overture, regardless of my query (from questions about tickets to complaints). Shameful.
Its a spacious area, with state of the art sound equipment and lighting. They out on top quality shows, and are a must stop for Madison travelers.
My family and I attended the spongebob musical and my children loved it! Amazing time and the ushers were very helpful.
Honestly this was my first conference attending there and it was the best I have ever seen. I would highly suggest going.
Great event center and food was excellent.
Beautifully designed with awesome staff, and no shortage of quality shows.
I really love River Dance and Overture Center was a Great plus.
Ive seen two productions here and this is such a nice theater!!
Beautiful building and great place to see a show.
Love this place! Kids in the Rotunda is a great program for exposure to the arts!
Best large performance space in Madison. The seating and view was better for Hamilton than the Chicago production and parking is always available and reasonably priced. Dont miss any production of Les Misérable that comes through.Dress code is as casual as you can get away with or as formal as you please. Nobody will bat an eye if you dress like a poor college student, but youll be able to rub elbows with the hoi polloi if you clean up nice. (Ive only seen top hat and spats once and I treasure that memory.)
Absolutely Fabulous concert.Enjoyed It So Much.
Wonderful performing arts center for wide variety of culture and art.
Beautiful architecture. Sound carried wondefully.
Went to a Brit Floyd concert here. The performance was wonderful but they were put in a far, far too small performance space for the sound to be any good. Really disappointed with that. Expensive tickets considering were in Madison, used to go to a similar quality venue in DC for less. The venue itself is very nice for things that arent a rock concert, like plays and art shows, though. Always something beautiful to look at.
I come from Washington DC and Los Angeles areas and I think this Center for the Arts revival any of those large metropolitan for quality and value.
